Finding Forrester : Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) has signed on to direct the drama Finding Forrester which Sean Connery will star in and executive produce. The film tells the story of a reclusive East Coast writer and his relationship with an underprivileged young black writer who also excels in basketball. Laurence Mark (As Good as It Gets) will produce the film.

The Score : Ben Affleck will join Robert De Niro in The Score. The picture is about about a veteran thief who wants to retire, but is blackmailed into one last big score. Affleck will paly the blackmailer. Frank Oz will direct the movie based on the script by Kario Salem. The shooting starts March 6 in Montreal, Canada.

Band of Brothers : Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks will return to the United Kingdom for another World War II drama. Several European countries, including Austria, the Czech Republic and particularly Ireland, were vying for months to be chosen as the site for the massive project, which will be in preproduction and production all next year and involve the construction of more than a dozen cities and villages and a river nearly a mile long. The area has finally been selected as the base and main location for the shooting of t 11-hour HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. The budget will top $100 million.

The Kid : Emily Mortimer (Scream 3) joined Bruce Willis in The Kid. Mortimer will play Willis' love interest and assistant in the movie which will be directed by Jon Turteltaub. The film concerns a man visited by his younger self. The script is by Audrey Wells (Truth About Cats and Dogs). Shooting is expected to begin early next year.

Tigerland : Director Joel Schumacher, has chosen an unknown student named Matt Davis from Utah to star in his next film Tigerland. The movie will be an ensemble drama about youths, combat training for Vietnam. Young Irish stage actor Colin Farrell will also star in the movie. Schumacher said "With younger talent, you can take bigger risks". The pic will shot on a closed-down army base where there will be no makeup artist, hairdresser or production designer.

Heart of Love : Blair Witch's co-directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez confirmed that their next film will be a comedy called Heart of Love which they described as Monty Python meets Airplane. Daniel Myrick said "It's the film we probably would have done first if we'd had the money."

Ocra Coke : Kevin Costner and Kevin Reynolds are trying to find $80 million to make the pirate adventure Ocra Coke. The picture tells the story of Robert Maynard, a disgraced British naval officer who redeemed himself by capturing notorious pirate Blackbeard in a battle in Ocra Coke, an inlet outside North Carolina. The two had been previously worked in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and Waterworld.

Steven Spielberg : Michael Fleming reports that Steven Spielberg is about to make a decision after two years. The director who last shot Saving Private Ryan is expected to decide whether next to direct Tom Cruise in Minority Report, or do A.I., the project Spielberg himself is scripting based on a treatment by Stanley Kubrick. There has been talk that he could do two pictures back to back the way he did with Jurassic Park and Schindler's List.

Emma Thompson&Greg Wise : Emma Thomspon and her husband actor Greg Wise has a baby girl. 40 year old Thompon and 34-year-old Wise met in 1995 when they played together in Sense and Sensibility. Thompson was previously married to director-actor Kenneth Branagh.

Billy Crystal : Variety reports that Billy Crystal is likely to return next year to host the Oscars, although he hasn't yet made a final decision. Last year, Crystal refused to host in order to devote time to promoting Analyze This, and Whoopi Goldberg hosted the show. Although Goldberg made a decent work everyone's favorite is definitely Crystal.

European Film Awards : 12th annual European Film Awards were held at Berlin. Pedro Almodovar's All About My Mother was chosen the film of the year and the film's star, Cecilia Roth, got the prize for actress of the year. Ralph Fiennes won actor of the year for the Hungarian film Sunshine. Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, won the People's Choice Awards for European actor and actress for Entrapment. Tim Roth and director David Lynch also took awards in the night.

Weekend Box Office : Toy Story 2 again got the first spot easily in its second week. The World is Not Enough was second and Schwarzenegger thriller End Of Days was a close third.

Say It Isn't So : Variety reports that Chris Klein (American Pie) is set and Heather Graham (Bowfinger) is in final negotiations to star in the comedy Say It Isn't So. The movie will be directed by James B. Rogers and produced by Peter and Bobby Farrelly. The film will center on an unlucky bachelor, (Klein) who finally finds the love of his life, only to discover that the woman (Graham) is his sister.

Any Given Sunday : The official site for the new Oliver Stone movie is now open. The cast includes Al Pacino, Dennis Quaid, Jim Caviezel, Cameron Diaz, Matthew Modine and James Woods.
