Gladiator : A teaser trailer has finally arrived for the new Ridlley Scott movie Gladiator. The movie is the story of warriors who battle to protect their empire in ancient Rome. Russell Crowe, Connie Nielsen (Rushmore) and Djimon Hounsou stars in the film.

Woody HarrelsonPlay it To The Bone : Two TV Spots for the Woody Harrelson-Antonio Banderas starrer boxing movie Play It To The Bone. The film centers on two boxers who journey from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, where they attempt to resurrect their floundering careers.

La Gran Vida : Salma Hayek will star in a Spanish-language comedy called La Gran Vida (The Great Life). Hayek will play Lola, a Mexican waitress working in Madrid who befriends a 30-year-old suicidal man who has borrowed $1 million to blow on his last day on Earth, knowing he'll be killed anyway if he fails to return the dough. Having met Lola, however, he decides that life may be worth living after all.The film will shoot in Madrid for nine weeks.

Charlize TheronWaking Up in Reno : Charlize Theron is in talks to star with Billy Bob Thornton in Waking Up in Reno for director Jordan Brady. The film tells the story of two redneck couples from Arkansas who take a vacation in Reno to see a monster truck show. Thornton and Theron will not play a couple but will be paired with another actress and actor.

Timeline : Variety reports that a deal is imminent for scribe Jeff Maguire (In the Line of Fire) to adapt Michael Crichton’s novel Timeline for the big screen. The storyline concerns three students working on an archaeological dig. The trio must travel back in time to 14th century France to rescue their eclectic professor, an obsessive academician who has become trapped after venturing into his favorite era to study it first-hand. Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon) will direct the movie.

Tomb Raider : Paramount Pictures is in advanced negotiations with Simon West (The General's Daughter, Con Air) to direct Tomb Raider, an action film based on the popular video game series. It is reported the the storyline will resemble Raiders of the Lost Ark. The start date still remains unclear.

Golden GlobesGolden Globe Nominations : The 2000 Golden Globe Nominations are anounced and American Beauty led the film categories with six nominations, followed by The Insider and The Talented Mr. Ripley with five each. Also well-represented: The End of the Affair, with four nominations, The Hurricane with three, and Julianne Moore, who received two acting nominations for two different roles (for her leading role in The End of the Affair and her supporting role in An Ideal Husband). The awards, will be distributed in a televised ceremony on Sunday, January 23. Click here for the complete list of nominations.

Alien 5 : Sigourney Weaver told SCI FI Wire: "I've always wanted to do one (an Alien movie) where we go back to the planet from which the Alien originally came." She adds "I don't know that there are any plans to do another one. It wouldn't surprise me if some time in the next 20 years or so, you see a white-haired Ripley hobbling around out there. But I haven't heard of anything." She also says a fifth movie has "never been a serious discussion."

Robin Williams - Bicentennial ManWeekend Box Office : Stuart Little took $15.4 million and came first through the weekend. Tom Hanks starrer The Green Mile came second while Toy Story 2 was still strong with $12 million. Robin Williams' Bicentennial Man was fourth and another debutant Jodie Foster starrer Anna and The King only took $5 million to finish in the 6th spot.

Anthony HopkinsHannibal : While talking to Popcorn magazine Anthony Hopkins has finally confirmed he will be reprising his role as Dr Hannibal Lecter in the sequel to The Silence Of The Lambs. Jodie Foster is still deciding whether to play but Hopkins says he'll do the part regardless. You can listen the auido comment by clicking here. Ridley Scott is directing the movie.

Luc Besson : French film director Luc Besson has been named jury president for the 2000 Cannes Film Festival, which will take place May 10-21. Gilles Jacob, who is programming his final festival before becoming the event's president in June, made the announcement Thursday. He said the choice of Besson represents the bridge between the present and the future.

Kingdom Come : Milla Jovovich, will star in a romance set during the California gold rush named Kingdom Come. The film also stars Wes Bentley, Sarah Polley and Nastassja Kinski. The story centers around a wealthy land owner who is reintroduced to the wife and daughter he gave up for a land claim two decades before. Jovovich will play a local saloon songstress who forms a bond with the daughter. The role was originally slated to be played by Madonna, and then Charlize Theron before both fell out of the picture. Michael Winterbottom will direct the picture.

Trailer : The trailer for the upcoming movie Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her is released. The film stars Cameron Diaz, Glenn Close, Calista Flockhart and Holly Hunter. The picture is astudy of the physical and emotional intricacies affecting the everyday lives of a very diverse group of women, and the strategies they adopt in coping with events.
