Spider-Man : Sam Raimi is now in final negotiations to direct Spider-Man and will helm the project in late fall after helming The Gift with Keanu Reeves. No cast is yet announced. The story revolves around Peter Parker, a teen who develops superhuman powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider. According to Hollywood Reporter, Raimi will shoot from a script by David Koepp (Jurassic Park).

The Score : According to Hollywood Reporter, Edward Norton is finalizing a deal to star opposite Robert De Niro in The Score for director Frank Oz. It is said that Norton will be paid a $6.5 million upfront plus 4% of first-dollar gross. De Niro will take $15 million for the movie which tells the story of a thief who is ready to retire but gets pulled back for one last score when he is blackmailed by a younger thief. This comes a month after Ben Affleck dropped out of the project.

The Million Dollar Hotel : The film stars Mel Gibson, Jeremy Davies, Milla Jovovich and Peter Stormare. It is a black comedy set in the near future that tells the story of a hotel which plays host to rich mental outpatients. The director is Wim Wenders. U2's Bono co-written the script and made the songs.

The Ottoman Empire : Keanu Reeves is set to play the lead role in The Ottoman Empire, a wild comedy about a New Jersey furniture salesman with a terrible secret. Andrew Bergman will direct from his own script. He will begin work shortly on the Sam Raimi-directed drama The Gift in which he plays a wife-beating redneck. He then will move to the Pat O'Connor-directed romance Sweet November. Then he will star in Ottoman Empire before starting the 250-day shoot with Larry and Andy Wachowski on back-to-back sequels of The Matrix.

The Gift : Hilary Swank who won a Golden Globe for Boys Don't Cry is nearing a deal to join Keanu Reeves and Cate Blanchett in The Gift for director Sam Raimi. Swank would play a woman, physically abused by her husband (Reeves), who turns to a psychic (Blanchett) for counsel. The budget will be under $10 million.

28 Days : The trailer for the upcoming Sandra Bullock movie 28 Days is released. It is the story of a big-city newspaper columnist who is forced to enter a drug and alcohol rehab center after stealing a limousine and crashing it into a house. The other cast includes Elizabeth Perkins, Viggo Mortensen and Steve Buscemi.

Pearl Harbor : Michael Fleming reports that producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay are moving forward on the Randall Wallace scripted Pearl Harbor. They had cut the fees to $130 million and talk has turned to casting. The key will be the commitment by Bruckheimer and Bay to stay on budget. Word is the original Armageddon budget started as $100 million and ended with $140 million. It is said that Bay wants Wes Bentley (American Beauty), Jim Caviezel and Charlize Theron to play in the movie.

Golden Globes : Toy Story 2 was named best comedy, while American Beauty took the best drama award. Denzel Washington and Jim Carrey named best actor while Hilary Swank and Janet McTeer won best actress award. Sam Mendes is chosen best director for American Beauty.
