Robin Wright PennUnbreakable : Robin Wright Penn is in talks to play the female lead in Unbreakable, writer/director M. Night Shyamalan's follow-up to The Sixth Sense. After Julianne Moore's departure to play in Hannibal, the studio is searching for a new name. The film also stars Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson and is set to start shooting in mid-April. Willis plays the sole survivor of a devastating train wreck, and Jackson a stranger who offers a bizarre explanation.

Training Day : Denzel Washington, is in negotiations to play a corrupt cop in the drama Training Day. Washington will play a veteran cop who escorts a rookie on his first day with the LAPD's undercover narcotics unit. The initiation is complicated by the fact that the reckless older cop is a danger to his young charge. Will Smith and Ben Affleck mentioned as possible co-stars.

British Academy Film Awards : The nominations are announced and American Beauty, received 14 nominations including best actress for Annette Bening and best actor for Kevin Spacey. Neil Jordan's The End of The Affair gained 10 nominations while British director Anthony Minghella's The Talented Mr. Ripley received seven. "Today's nominations are a true reflection of the continuing resurgence of the British film industry,'' said awards chairman Tim Angel.

Heather GrahamWhen the Cat's Away : Heather Graham will star in When the Cat's Away, a remake of 1996 French movie Chacun Cherche son Chat. The film is about a woman who, before going on vacation, leaves her cat with the neighborhood's unofficial kitty sitter, an old lady with a house full of felines. Upon her return, the woman is told that the cat has disappeared. Searching for her missing pet, the woman meets a variety of colorful people. Brad Anderson will direct the picture.

Queen of the Damned : Wes Bentley is in final negotiations to star as the Vampire Lestat in Queen of the Damned, the third novel from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Michael Rymer (In Too Deep) will direct the picture which follows Lestat as he becomes a rock star whose music wakes up Akasha, the queen of all vampires. In the process, a young woman who works as a vampire hunter falls in love with him. Shooting is expected to begin this spring in Australia.

American Psycho : It is reported that the makers of serial killer film American Psycho have cut parts of a sex scene to win an R tag and avoid the more restrictive NC-17. A spokesman for Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.,said only a few seconds were cut off a scene in which the maniacal serial killer played by Christian Bale, engages in sex with two prostitutes. The movie, based on Bret Easton Ellis' 1991 novel of the same name traces the life of Patrick Bateman, a young and wealthy New Yorker who uses his money and privileged place in society as a cover for his murderous ways.

See Spot Run : Martin Lawrence has dropped out of comedy See Spot Run over creative differences, Warner Bros is in negotiations with David Arquette to replace him. Lawrence who is now shooting Big Momma'a House had been on the project since October 1998.

Novocaine : Helena Bonham Carter (Fight Club) has agreed to star with Steve Martin in the upcoming dark comedy Novocaine. In the movie Martin will play a successful dentist who suddenly finds himself the target of a con gone awry. Bonham Carter will play Martin's newest patient, a seductress who sends his stable life into a downward spiral. Kevin Bacon is in talks to co-star.

The Whole Nine YardsWeekend Box Office : The Bruce Willis- Mathew Perry comedy The Whole Nine Yards grossed an estimated $9.6 million and got the first spot through the weekend. Snow Day managed to stay in second place while Ben Affleck-Charlize Theron starrrer Reindeer Games debuted at the third place. Hanging Up was declined more than %40 and Pitch Black was close behind. Another debutant was Wonder Boys starring Michael Douglas. It opened in the seventh place.

Renee ZellwegerBridget Jones' Diary : Renee Zellweger, will play the lead in the upcoming comedy Bridget Jones' Diary. The film will be an adaptation of the Helen Fielding bestseller about a single girl in her 30s. Zellweger is working with a dialogue coach to play the role with a British accent. Sharon Maguire will direct the picture from a screenplay by Richard Curtis (Notting Hill).

Morton Orwell : Sylvester Stallone is set to star as a criminal on the run in an upcoming thriller Morton Orwell. Stallone will play the lead role of a sophisticated bank robber, chased by both an FBI agent and a sworn enemy, and manipulated, it seems, by a rogue intelligence officer.A Female lead for Orwell's love interest, has yet to be cast. The film is also known as Confidence.
