---[ JEAN RENO ]---
Ever since I saw him in the stunningly and beautifully shot film THE
PROFESSIONAL this guy has been a favorite of
mine. This guy can ACT. He's foreign but don't let that fool you. He can
do comedy, drama, and action, all equally well. The man is talented and
has an extremely captivating look to him when you focus on his face. His
neat accent adds to his charm, he's Spanish not French and was born in
Casablanca. I mean, is it possible to have a more exoitic background?
He's not a typical action/horror/scifi god like Stallone or Ahnuld, but,
is rather an everyman you could believe in in a film role. In THE
PROFESSIONAL he was a lonely hitman who was able to break free of his inner
demons and learned to love again; consequently there were wonderful scenes
where his comedic talents shone through like a bright light. Ironically the
"funny shots" involving Réno were all orchestrated via physical comedy.
Makes you wonder how this guy can NOT be funny if just given a chance.
I hear his films THE VISITORS and THE VISITORS 2 are extremely funny and I'm
gonna watch 'em as soon as possible. The only thing that pisses me off though
is that in every film I've seen him in so far (THE PROFESSIONAL, MISSION:
IMPOSSIBLE) he has died! Crap! I wish JC would hurry up and cast him
in one of his films. Jean likes to work with Luc Besson a lot, the way Kurt
Russell does with JC, only more so. There are like only 2 films in his
career that he (Jean Réno) hasn't done with Besson, among them the directors
last effort, last years THE FIFTH ELEMENT (the role of character Corbin
Dallas, some say, was tailor made for Réno). So you see, he would be a perfect
candidate as a new favorite actor for John to pick on for several films.
I'm thinking of starting a Jean Réno page.
So do you think Jean Réno is a good choice? Do you agree or disagree with me? Let me know what you think. If you want to see a particular person appear in a John Carpenter film let me know who it is and I'll start up another page dedicated to actors that viewers of this site want to see in a JC film.
