Nick walked through the front door, humming as he smiled a greeting to Alex who was reading a magazine. She gave him a wink and continued her reading. Nick's mood was obvious. He had just gotten back from checking out the reports of corpses being stolen by a cult only to find out it was a publicity stunt. All the members of the house enjoyed it when the cases turned out to not be some demon or other force causing trouble. After all, they face those threats often enough to appreciate a false alarm. Nick bounded up the stairs and into their room. Oddly enough, Michael wasn't in there. After checking a few other areas of the house Michael favored, Nick went back downstairs to consult Alex.

"Hey there. You wouldn't happen to know where Michael is hiding?"

"He's in the kitchen. I would NOT go in there if I were you."

"Why? Is something wrong?" Nick asked, concerned.

"No, but I still wouldn't go in there," Alex replied, giving a very curious smile.

"Ok, but I'm still going in." Nick walked into the kitchen to find Michael in an apron with several pots out and an array of ingredients and spices set out. The smells coming from whatever Michael was cooking was divine.

"Hey, what's going on here?"

"Nick. I thought you weren't due back until this evening," Michael said, looking up and smiling as he tasted a sauce that was simmering.

"It turned out to be a false alarm. Now, what is going on?" Nick asked, reaching to snag a taste, but Michael slapped Nick's hand away before he could.

"Oh no you don't. Out of this kitchen, then we'll talk. This meal is for tonight."

"Oh, does that mean you'll serve me a different meal now?" Nick asked wickedly, as he rubbed his stinging hand.

"No, that's later tonight as well. And don't look at me like that. If I give in, the dinner will be ruined and the dinner is for everyone. If it were just you and me, just maybe....ok, most likely, you could persuade me to go upstairs."

Nick pouted and stuck his lower lip out, which Michael quickly leaned forward to kiss and suck on for a moment before ushering Nick out and into the living room. He even picked Nick up and plopped him down on the couch when he started to protest. Alex couldn't help laughing at the hilarious image of Nick being slung over Michael's shoulder. It earned her a venomous stare from Nick, but she couldn't help it, so he eventually just rolled his eyes at her. "Alex, I am placing you in charge of Nick. He is not to come into that kitchen under any circumstances. If he wants me, you come get me and I'll come out here to talk to him."

"Michael, you can't be serious--*" Nick protested before Michael planted a quick kiss to keep him quiet.

"I'm serious, Nick. I am in the middle of cooking, and the dinner will be ruined if you are in there constantly snatching tidbits and distracting me. If you force me, I'll cast a sleep spell on you until it's time to eat. I know you won't like it, but I will do it." Michael gave Nick one more quick kiss before hurrying back to the kitchen.

Nick sat there a bit embarrassed and annoyed, until he finally cleared his throat to get Alex's attention. "Do you think he suspects?"

"No. We've been careful. How could he?" Alex asked.

"Ok. Do you know why he's making this dinner then?"

"Not a clue. Why? You don't think something's wrong, do you?"

"Well, how often does Michael do this? It can only be something really good, or he's softening the blow for some really bad news."

"Don't worry. I promise you he doesn't know."

As the last light from the sun began to fade in the sky....

Michael announced it was time to eat. Everyone filtered into the dining hall to be greeted with a feast. There was roast pheasant, stew, cheeses, soup, pastries, fish, croissants, as well as some unidentifiable, most likely long forgotten dishes which Michael probably only knew the recipes to. Michael also produced two bottles of wine over 300 years old, one for dinner and one dessert wine.

"Whoa!" was all Nick could say as he sat down.

"I'm not surprised at the amount. You have been at it all day. I just want to know where you learned to cook all this fantastic looking food," Alex chimed.

"That is a very long story, better left for another time," Michael replied.

"I wonder if th' church would consider indulging in this sinful," Phillip questioned, his mouth watering.

"We are supposed to enjoy life, but I have a feeling Michael asked that all of us join him tonight for a special reason, not a philosophical debate," Derek answered before Michael could.

"Yes, I did, but that topic is for when we retire to the living room with thesecond bottle I had sent here."

"Oh, c'mon. You're killing me with anticipation," Nick said nervously.

"You'll live. Now, we should dig in, before it gets cold," Michael said with a wink. Turning to Phillip, he added, "Would you like to say grace for us, Phillip?"

Phillip smiled, accepting. After a brief but meaningful thanks, they ate heartily. Nick, despite his nervousness, put away two plates of food. Derek, Alex, Rachel, and Phillip all overstuffed themselves a bit also. It was hard not to with the exquisite tasting bounty Michael had cooked. Michael was the only one who ate with some reserve, betraying his calm exposure. Small talk ensued through out the meal, but everyone was eager to find out what had brought this on.

Later on, everyone filtered into the living room, sipping at the delicious wine. Derek leaned back, a little sleepy from being so full. "Michael, have you ever thought about letting us hire you as the cook here?" Rachel questioned, before adding, "Of course, I'd have to start going to the gym a lot, if you were. I feel like I've put on ten pounds."

"No, I only do this for something special. On regular nights, I'm happy with a good pastrami, mustard, and lettuce on toasted rye, washed down with a good beer. Before my real supper that is. But, I digress. I do have an announcement to make. I wanted all of you here for this. I--*"

"Wait!" Nick cut him off, "I need to make an announcement first. I know you really are entitled to go first, but if I don't get this out now, I'm going to go nuts. Michael, I love you. I love everything about you. I would never intentionally hurt you. I need you to know how I feel, before I say this."

"I know, Nick. What is it?"

"I'm not the best at saying something like this, so I'm just going to be direct. I want to stay with you as long as I live. Will you marry me?" Nick asked, getting down on his knees before Michael. He took one of Michael's hands in his, and with the other, he produced a ring from his pocket. It was simple and beautiful, a band made of twisting silver, platinum, and gold.

Michael began crying, right before he pulled Nick into his arms and a long embrace. He didn't need to say yes, as the answer was obvious as he kissed and held Nick. Eventually, they parted to see everyone staring at them smiling. Nick let out a small laugh before settling back onto the couch, his hand in Michael's.

"I'm sorry. I just had to get that out. What were you going to say?"

"That's alright," Michael said, wiping the tears from his eyes, "I'm actually glad you went first. It makes what I'm going to say easier. Nick, have you ever thought of having kids?"

"Yeah. I want to. I guess we could adopt in the future. Why?"

"Well, we won't need to. I'm pregnant."

Derek and Rachel dropped their glasses, Phillip and Alex dropped their jaws, and Nick literally fell off the couch in shock. Michael helped Nick up, before getting ready to answer the questions everyone had.

"H-h-how???" Nick stammered out, too shocked to get out anything more.

"Well, Nick, you were there," Michael said teasing, "I'm sorry. Did I forget to mention that male Visagorum can become pregnant from human males?"

"Yes, you did," Derek replied for everyone, his normal composure in a state of complete shock.

It was actually quite funny to see a group who couldn't be shocked by an army of demons attacking them in this state.

"Y-you're serious?" Nick asked, gently placing his hand on Michael's stomach.

"Quite. Males of my people can give birth. I'll need some of them to assist in the birthing, as it will require a ritual and operation, but I have a womb. Males of my people can only become pregnant by human males though. Our females can become pregnant through either human or Visagorum, but for males, it has to be with a human."

Nick stuttered, still numb. Michael gave them all a little while to absorb the news. Nick finally smiled and looked into Michael's eyes. "I don't know what to say."

"Just answer me this. Are you happy?" Nick nodded, smiling. "Then don't say anything," Michael responded, kissing him deeply.

Derek finally recovered some of his composure, as the two kissed fiercely. He cleared his throat to ask a question, when it became apparent they wouldn't stop anytime soon.

"I have a question for you, Michael."

"Go ahead, Derek."

"What race will the child be, human or Visagorum?"

"I don't know. He or she will decide. If our child embraces the magic, he or she will become Visagorum. If not, then the child will be human.....well, a little more than human depending on your view. If the child decides to live as human, he or she will live to be about 120 to 160 years old, and be about 30-50% stronger and faster than a normal human. But the child's offspring would be completely human."

"Have you had children before?" Nick couldn't help but ask.

"Actually, no," Michael said, letting out a small laugh, "This is my first." Michael realized he had yet to put on the ring Nick had bought for him, as he felt it when he took Nick's hand. He promptly slipped it on, and kissed Nick's hand. He smiled before, he looked at his watch.

"I hate to do this, but we really need to go to bed. After all, calling this day exciting would be an understatement. We also have a wedding to start planning. We need to get married before I give birth to make everything proper. And we only have 4 months, as it takes less time for me to come to term than a human. I think we should say goodnight."

Nick just nodded, allowing Michael to lead him up to their room. The remaining four stared at each other, still taking in everything that had just happened. Derek finally broke the silence.

"I just have one question. Michael is obsessive in knowing where Nick is. One of the only times they're apart is when Nick is on assignment, so who helped out in getting the ring?"

"I did," Alex said.

"Did you know about Michael's announcement?"

"That, I was just as much in the dark as the rest of you."

"It really has been a lot to take in. I think I'm going to go to bed as well.....after a long journal entry," Derek said before getting up.

Shortly after, everyone got up and said there goodnights, before retiring to their rooms.
