Hey there! You've all read the stories up on Jenga's Library, but have you ever wondered.... "What was that author thinking when (s)he wrote that??? Well, hopefully, you didn't flame that poor soul! Some of you might just be too shy to write and ask, so...I did it for you! *grin*
We'll be bringing you some of the best PR authors around, unplugged and talking about all sorts of things!
We've got a couple of really great authors here who are just waiting to tell all of you how they REALLY feel about the wonderful world of PR.....
So, sit back, put your feet up and put on your fave tunes...and get ready to find out just what makes a person sit down to write a PR fic.....
That's right, you heard it here first. *grin* We've trapped...er...asked this lucky sucker...um...soul to tell us ALL about her and what she thinks! Who is this forutnate soul??

Ready to find out just what makes this girl tick?
Let's
Get
Dangerous!!!
What first got you into PR?
You really want to know? ^_^ Well, what happened was five ancient years ago
I happened to have a day off from school. Around about 2:30 PM I was flipping
through the channels when my eyes suddenly caught five people running around in
bright spandex; it was the opening credits of PR. I thought it looked kind of
interesting so I stopped and watched the whole episode, which I still remember to
be "Power Punks". After the episode was finished, I knew I was hooked. Then when I
caught the first episode of the "Green With Evil" mini-series and laid eyes on
Tommy Oliver, I knew there was no turning back then. :)
What or who first interested you in writing PR stories? Where do you think your
inspiration comes from?
I actually got interested in writing PR fanfics after I read Ellen Brand's
"Personality Conflicts" and Jeremy Ray's "Earth Crystals". I really don't know what
happened, but I realized that I really wanted to write too. Both to satisfy my
savage imagination and express my love for the show and a certain ranger *wink*.
Most of my inspiration comes from watching too much TV, reading too many PR
fanfics, reading too many science-fiction books, doing too much homework and
talking way too much to my wacky PR lovin' cousin. :) Seriously though, I think
most of my inspiration derives from my imagination and anyone else willing to throw
some ideas at me, literally. ^_^
If you could be a Ranger, which one would you be? Why?
Ooh man. This is a real tuffy. Sincerely, I love all the rangers but if I
had to be one........Well, I can't choose just one. I choose two instead! :) I
think the tie would be between Katherine and Cassie because I really think they're
both two awesome female rangers. Katherine because she's just an all around sweet
and caring person, who puts her friends' well being above her own. I also chose
Cassie because I believe (IMO) she probably is the most independent female ranger
ever and she's just seems really rebellious and strong. By the by, this has nothing
to due with the fact that they're both Pink Rangers either. ^_^
If you were talking about color though, I would want to be the Red Ranger.
I guess that's because I've always been somewhat partial to the color. (It also had
a little bit to do with Tommy) ;) It's always bugged me also that guys have always
been in red and as the leader of a PR team most of the time. That's probably the
main reason for me making Liyah the Red Turbo Ranger in my fanfics too.
Who would be on your "dream team"?
Wow. My dream team? Okay. They would DEFINITELY be in armor, Zeo armor if
possible. Though I do admire spandex for some of it's better *wink* qualities. Oh,
wait. Let me list them. It'll be easier. :)
Red Ranger - Tommy
Green Ranger - Adam
Blue Ranger - Billy
Yellow Ranger - Tanya
Pink Ranger - Katherine
White Ranger - Cassie
Black Ranger - Andros
My dream team pick from the PR teams that Saban has created for the show would have
to be the Zeo Ranger team without Jason/Gold Ranger. I guess I just feel that they
have had the best chemistry of any of the other teams.
Who's your favorite Ranger? Why?
I love all the rangers, so this is another tuffy question. I guess I would
say my two favorite female rangers would be Cassie and Katherine (in that order)
for the same reasons that I used two questions before. For the guys though, it's
Tommy and Andros (in that order). Really. It's kind of ironic because they both are
alike in so many ways. They both have "the hair", they both brood, they both jump
around in red spandex.......Get my point? *_* For Tommy most of my reasons are
looks, but some are for his protective personality. You've gotta love that! ^_^ For
Andros, looks also come into play, but his personality, for me, sort of lags.
The Rangers have totem animals. What do you think your totem animal is and why?
I guess my totem animal would have to be a snow leopard. I really like to
spend time by myself a lot, enjoying my own company; but I do enjoy other people's
company too. I also like to think of myself as a unique person, just like snow
leopards which happen to be very rare. I just really identify with the animal a
lot.
Do you write in any other genres?
I've tried my hand at writing in the Star Trek genre; especially Star Trek:
Voyager. ^_^ (OH MY! Yes, I am a certified trekkie and I am VERY proud of it!) I
haven't web published any of these stories, but I just write them for fun once in
awhile. I also write heavily in historical fiction for school and for my own
pleasure; mostly about post and pre-Civil War as well as pre-Revolutionary War.
What advice can you give to someone thinking of writing a story and submitting
it? Any words of encouragement?
Advice? I could give you twenty pages of advice for writing, but I won't do
that. Most of the important things are you enjoy what you're writing, you know
exactly what you're writing about and you take your sweet time to write it. If you
don't do any one of those things, I guarantee, to an extent, that your writing will
not turn out as good as it can be. Believe me, I should know; it's happened to me
once or twice. Adding to that, if someone rejects your submission, which hopefully
they won't because it is SO good, don't give up right away. If you have patience
and lots of faith in yourself and your writing, you WILL prevail in the end.
Remember that good will ALWAYS prevail. :)
What, in your opinion, makes for a great story vs. an okay one?
In my opinion, "okay" stories have these good qualities: good inventive
plot or plots, suspense, quirky or smart dialogue, big climax and an okay
resolution. In the same opinion though, "great" stories have some of these good
qualities: unique and smart plots, slow building suspense, tension between
characters, detailed and unique descriptions, quirky and smart dialogue, lots of
small climaxes, a gigantic climax and a resolution that solves it all.
Even though, a story doesn't necessarily have to have any or all of those
elements to be a great story. Almost all stories with a strong and driven plot are
great stories in my book. That's because I always look at the unique points of a
writer's perspective and take those into account. If you want to know more about
what I'm talking about, e-mail me and we can have a LONG chat about it. ^_^
How long have you been writing fiction?
Ever since I was in the second grade; I still have the story in its
original form. It is called "The Adventures of Casey the Polar Bear". ^_^ The title
really gives away what it is about. :)
Out of all the stories you've written, which is your favorite and why?
Out of ALL my stories?!?! :o Well, if I was forced to choose I would have
to go with "Imminent Departure". It's one of my most recent ones written, but I
really had a lot of fun writing it because I got to throw around ideas about
Tommy's past; I manipulated it practically. :) I really liked the emotions I threw
into that story also. A favorite scene of my mine happens to be the scene where
Caroline comes to see Shannon in her ICU room. Oh man! I wanted to cry! :( Other
choices I have floating in my head right now are: "Nothing Really Matters"; "I
Can't Make You Love Me"; "In The Eyes Of The Betrayer". "Nothing Really Matters"
because of Kat's "near death" experience; "I Can't Make You Love Me" because of
Kat's reaction and feelings; and "In The Eyes Of The Betrayer" because of whole
last chapter's emotions.
What hobbies besides PR do you have?
What?!?! I'm supposed to have other hobbies besides PR? Just joking. ^_^ As
I mentioned before, I am a certified trekkie; which means I love Star Trek ALMOST
as much as I love PR. I also love Sailor Moon- Japanese and American versions both
satisfy me- so I collect memorabilia from that show. I am a bookworm too,
especially for historical or science-fiction books. I play the violin in my high
school's orchestra and I sing in my high school's Jazz Choir. I don't know if you
can call those hobbies or not, but I do them! :)
What's your favorite color?
The BIG question. My favorite colors of all time will be black and red,
always and forever! *_*
Who's your favorite author (not PR or fanfic -- published stuff)?
Since I read a lot of science fiction, I would have to say my favorite
author is Christie Golden. I just LOVE the way she writes! :) My favorite of her
books has to be "Seven Of Nine". It SO kicks! :)
What is your favorite book?
My favorite book changes often, but right now my favorite book has to be
"Pathways". It was written by Jeri Taylor, who used to be the executive
producer of my favorite Star Trek show; Star Trek: Voyager. It basically
touches on the pasts of the main characters on the show, but it was written
in such a way that I was practically enthralled in the book by the second
page; I managed to read it in one day, when it was more than 400 pages. :)
What's your favorite movie?
A lot of my friends think my favorite movie is corny, but it is Disney's
version of "Pocahontas". :o Don't even ask me why that is, I wouldn't be able to
even begin to explain why. :P
Favorite cartoon character?
Another good question! :) Since I am fan of Sailor Moon, which is a kind of
cartoon, my favorite cartoon character would have to be Setsuna/Sailor Pluto. I
just really like her powers and character! :)
What other television shows do you watch, other than PR?
Other shows I watch religiously are: Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Deep
Space Nine, Sailor Moon, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Felicity (for Amy Jo
Johnson of course), Spin City, Dawson's Creek, Legacy, and Xena: Warrior
Princess. I have a passion for action shows and drama shows. See, I told
you I watch a lot of television! ^_^
What kind of music do you listen to?
Everything and anything other than heavy metal.
Song that couldn't be improved on?
Oh gosh. There are just so many. I guess I would say "Power Of Good-bye" by
Madonna, "Two Become One" by Spice Girls, "Do What You Have To Do" by Sarah
McLachlan, "My All" by Mariah Carey, "Run Away" by Whitney Houston, "How Do I Live"
by LeAnn Rimes and "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt. There may be more
that just might be stowed away in my brain somewhere that I don't remember so this
is only a handful of songs.
Who is your favorite comedien?
My favorite comedian would have to be my friend, Natalie. (Don't peg me for
using your name on here, girl!) Yeah, yeah, she may not be famous but she's the
only person I know who can twist any sentence you say into a really funny or corny
joke that keeps me laughing non-stop; at least that's until someone yells at me to
be quiet. ^_^
Favorite joke?
I have no real favorite joke, but I've got this thing for extremely corny
"knock, knock" jokes. ;)
What's the coolest experience of your life?
Okay, I've got two cool experiences so far. One is when I was in seventh
grade my orchestra went to Anaheim, California and we competed in a music
festival/competition. After also going to Disneyland for the billionth time we
found out we got the silver award, which is like second place! That was the highest
I have ever placed in a music competition. Second, when I was in sixth grade I went
to Australia on Christmas vacation with my family. It was really beautiful. :)
Person you respect most?
The person I probably respect the most is my English teacher, Ms. Eliason.
She really has encouraged me in my writing very much the last two years and I just
value her faith and hope in me. She never gave up on me when I even gave up on
myself.
Special awards or achievements?
I've been getting English and writing awards since way back when I can't
even remember. :) I've also gotten a few awards for my singing and for my playing
of my violin.
Scariest thing you've ever done?
I was brave, and in the fifth grade I had a severe operation that placed in
me in home schooling and bed for about six months. Does that classify as scary?
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?
I think I would live where I was living right now in the California Bay
Area. I've lived in the Bay Area all my life and I sincerely think if I moved
anywhere else I'd miss the fog way too much. :) Yeah, there are lots of great
places to live, but for me it's my hometown forever; or as long as I can stay here.
^_^
What do you look for in a friend?
Usually most of my friends love the same things I like (including PR), but
mostly I look for a kind and understanding person; someone who I can trust and
easily confess my feelings to with no worries.
Three words that are often associated with you?
As my friends say, I am a smart, fun-loving, and compassionate person.
;)
Are you Shannon Kassandra Kaze?
No I am not. To tell the truth, I don't even look like her. Some of her
qualities may be based on some of the same qualities I have, but she's
definately a fictional character. That is unless some actually does exist
with the name, Shannon Kassandra Kaze.
If you won the lottery today, what would you do with it?
If I won the lottery I would pay my way through college, take care of my
parents and with what's left I would donate it all to a good charity. After all,
good deeds never go undone. :)
Do you have a motto you live your life by?
My motto is "Life has potholes. Don't drive around them." I really believe
that if life didn't have those big mistakes you make once in awhile, you wouldn't
learn anything. Thus leaving you with the most boring life on Earth. ^_^
Do you have a big dream -- like running for President?
Dreams? Not really. I try to see myself being a professional singer in the
future or an established writer, but nothing like running for President; a little
too murky from me. On serious note, a dream I do have is to see the human race
unite and forget hate. BIG dream for me. :)
This is where you can say anything you want -- as long as we don't have to
edit it. ;)
YaY! Okay, I would like to fly down mountains and go into outer
space......Oh, wrong thing. Never mind about that. ^_^
I would like to address the lovely subject of the Kim/Tommy and Kat/Tommy
debate. As some people may know, I am more partial to the Kat/Tommy relationship
than the Kim/Tommy relationship. Before Kim/Tommy fans get ready to flame me
vigorously, let me tell you a story of how this opinion of mine came to be.
Once upon a time I used to be a Tommy/Kim relationship supporter all the
way. I used to be angry that Katherine had taken Tommy away from Kimberly. Then one
day, I went to the Fanfic Shoppe and read Jeremy Ray Logsdon's Authors Unplugged
interview; especially the part about his opinion on the Kat/Tommy and Kim/Tommy
debate. Suddenly it hit me. What Jeremy Ray was saying made sense. :o So that was
the beginning of my change. Slowly and gradually I began to change sides until I
was a complete supporter of Kat and Tommy. And yes, I still like Kimberly very much
so please don't email me telling me that I hate Kim. I truly think she's awesome.
Now I really think I could go into detail about why Katherine and Tommy
make a fabulous couple in my eyes, but I think Jeremy Ray has covered that
standpoint many times over.
By the by, while we're on the subject of Jeremy Ray, a few weeks back {I think at
the beginning of October? Feel free to correct me Jeremy) people started flaming
our beloved webmaster about him opening a tribute website for Tommy and Kat. Now,
hearing this, I was a touch upset. Whatever happened to freedom of speech and the
first amendment? I know Kimberly/Tommy fans have the right to their opinion, but it
really isn't fair to a person who is also supporting their OWN opinion to be yelled
(flamed) at by people who have an opposite opinion. If you feel so strongly, go
into an empty room and yell at the walls for an hour; but please, don't take it out
on another person. You may not know it but when you flame someone you are really
hurting his or her feelings. They may not show it, but you are. :(
Okay. Now I am going to thank some people. Thank you to Jeremy Ray for
accepting my first fanfic at Jenga's Library about a little past a year ago and
also a BIG thank you for converting me to a Kat/Tommy fan. :) Thank you to Ellen
Brand for writing "Personality Conflicts" for without it, my series' creation would
have never been. Thank you to Julia for being a fellow Oliverette *wink* and for
interviewing me. Thank you to Jake and Astronema for being the ones to come to my
rescue when I needed help with "Emotions" (you two know what I'm talking about) and
thank you for letting me ricochet ideas off of you guys. ^_^ Thank you to Suzy
Chen, Sarah Nie and Monica for emailing me and asking me for help when you needed
it. *Shameless Plug* - Go read their stories, "The Dark Heart Series"! It's in the
beginning stages, but it shows LOTS of promise! :) Another thank you to Suzy Chen
for beta reading my story "Broken Wings" for me. And last but not least, I would
like to thank all the readers who have e-mailed me and encouraged me to keep
writing, as well as sticking with me as I explored my PR writing abilities. ^_^
THANK YOU ALL! :)

Okay! Well, there you have it from WhiteZeo. Thanks for letting me interview you! If you guys have any more questions for her, she loves e-mail (show me an author who doesn't!). Send your questions to WhiteZeo.
So...who's up next?? Have to wait and see, but I'll give you a hint: she's written a LOT of stories, created many original characters and she isn't Ellen Brand. *grin* That should keep you guys guessing for a while!
If you have any suggestions, comments or questions about Author Unplugged, e-mail Julia. Until next time, ja ne!
Take me back to The Power Core!
