Brief Character History: Joan is just the all around perfect mother. Joan always wanted to drive around Paris in a convertable. On the day Meg was supposed to marry Tim, Meg lived out her mother's dream of driving off in a convertable. Meg left Kansas because she caught Tim cheating on her on her wedding day. Joan is very supportive of her daughters. When Joan visited Meg in Sunset Beach, she wasn't too sure about Meg's new love interest, Ben Evans because Annie Douglas made Ben out to look like he was a dangerous man. After Joan got to know the real Ben, she accepted him and she couldn't be any more happier for her daughter. Joan likes all of Meg's friends that she made in Sunset Beach, but she is especially fond of Casey Mitchum. Joan wants her other daughter, Sara, to be with Casey, but Sara thinks Casey only see's her as a friend. With the help of her husband, Leo Deschanel, and Sean Richards, Joan is rebuilding Elaine's Waffle Shop from the aftermath of the earthquake.
