As a happy wife and mother with a full-time career and two websites, my life is very full. I have so very little spare time nowadays that I no longer update my website as regularly as I'd like to, but hey, that's life! News: I've recently retired but still do not have the time to regularly update Nancy's website.
I am, or at least used to be, an avid reader who prefers biographies, true-crime and non-fiction. I've been interested in Hollywood since childhood. Over the years I have read the biographies and autobiographies of numerous Hollywood personalities, as well as many other Hollywood~related books. I tend to think of Hollywood not as a specific place but as an entire culture unto itself.
My favorite actresses of today listed in no particular order are Susan Sarandon, Annette Benning,Kate Winslet, Winona Ryder, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster,Julianne Moore,Diane Keaton, Diane Lane, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Naomi Watts,Rachel McAdams,Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie and Reese Witherspoon.I cannot imagine why it took me so long to realize it, but I've finally come to recognize Meryl Streep for what she is -- one of the finest actors of all time. Actually, there are very few actresses that I don't like and just because they're not listed here does not mean that they are not among my favorites. And although some are listed by name here already, I cannot think of an actress from Great Britain or Australia that I don't admire.
I like many of the actresses of yesteryear, among them: Rita Hayworth, Susan Hayward, Bette Davis, Mary Astor, Jean Harlow, Marilyn Monroe, Olivia deHavilland, Lana Turner, Piper Laurie, Barbara Stanwyck,Judy Holliday,Joan Crawford,Paulette Goddard, Clara Bow, Anne Baxter, Eleanor Parker, Jane Wyman and of course, Nancy. I could go on, truly, because I adore so very many of the actresses of the '20s,'30s,'40s and '50s. Perhaps this is due in part to the magic they seemed to bring to their roles. Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond in the classic " Sunset Boulevard " said, " We had faces then! " The actresses of yesteryear had much more than faces, but those four simple words strung together make a powerful statement, don't you agree ?
Although I enjoy classical music, music from the '30s,'40s,and '50s, classic country, the " oldies" and rock and roll, my favorite singer of all-time is the legendary Patsy Cline. I also love to cook and create recipes. My other website SueBee's Kitchen is dedicated to the memory of Patsy Cline and although the website is actually a free recipe site, its foundation is Patsy and you will find links to many wonderful Patsy Cline websites there.
I am an avid baseball fan -- " Let's Go Mets! " My favorite teams are the NY Mets and the team playing the NY Yankees on any given day. By the way, Nancy was a baseball fan too, and although I suspect she may have been a Yankee fan, I don't hold it against her. Seriously though, I enjoy baseball very much although I can do very well without all the spitting, butt slapping and adjusting, thank you very much!
As far as collections go, I collect green and pink Depression Glass, vintage holiday postcards and I have a Marilyn Monroe collection dating back to 1972. In recent years I have started a Patsy Cline and Nancy Carroll collection. Regular visitors to " Babyface ", will be able to enjoy my Nancy Carroll collection as it continues to grow.
Thank you for visiting " Babyface" ~ A Tribute to Nancy Carroll, the site dedicated to keeping Nancy's memory and history alive. Please visit again, and while here, please sign my guestbook. Thank you!
