Rethel the Archer (Mischa Hausserman)

Mischa HaussermanMISCHA HAUSSERMAN (Rethel the Archer) made his feature debut with a small part in Alfred Hitchcock’s "Torn Curtain," after moving from his native Austria to California in 1965. Since then, he has appeared in the features "Eraser," "Die Hard With a Vengeance," "Slaughter Day," "Murphy’s Law," "The Salzburg Connection," "Missing in Action II," "Counterpoint," "The Evil That Men Do" and "Amanda." Most recently, Mischa had a very small role in John McTiernan's "The Thomas Crown Affair." Mischa played Crown's driver (picture below) and his only line was "can I take your briefcase?"

Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, Hausserman traveled to the United States when he was 16 in order to learn English. He decided to study acting at the Herbert Berghof Studios and at New York University. Fluent in three languages, and with a talent for foreign accents, Hausserman landed roles in television combat series such as "12 O’Clock High," "Combat," "Blue Light" and "Hogan’s Heroes."

More recent television credits include guest-starring roles on "Cop Files" and the daytime series "The Young & the Restless," as well as on "Masquerade," "Voyagers," "The Bionic Woman" and "Ironside." For German television, he starred in the telefilm "Century of Surgeons," and on the series lead on "Betty and Alexander."

One of Hausserman’s favorite stage experiences was starring in "The Threepenny Opera," which was performed in German at New York’s City Center Opera in a production directed by a former state theater director from Vienna. Hausserman also starred in Zurich in "Blithe Spirits," and in Vienna in "Four Windows With a View" and "The Boys in the Band."

Hausserman also worked as an aerial coordinator and camera-stunt pilot for such features as "Eraser," "Broken Arrow," "Die Hard With a Vengeance," "The Beastmaster," "Delta Force 2," "MIA II," "Why Would I Lie?" and "Cop Files." He is also a member of the DGA with a credit on the upcoming "The Thomas Crown Affair."
