Life is Beautiful has been classified as a comedy by many critics and viewers. However, this is an unfair classification. Although Life is Beautiful does contain many humorous sections, it captures a full range of human emotions in ways that not many films have ever successfully done. This movie is more about the love of one man for his family and for his life than it ever was about the Holocaust. Roberto Begini has used his World War II setting as a way to delve into the human psyche and explore the joys of love that transcend any time period. Life is Beautiful is a very enjoyable modern fairy tale.
