This file contains, to the best of my knowledge to date, a complete listing
of all the bloopers in the _Star Wars_ trilogy. These bloopers have been
compiled from various documents, E-mail submissions and the readers of rec.
arts.sf.starwars. The main documents used as source are _The Bad Guide to
Star Wars_ (copyright Brandon Gillespie -- brandon@cc.usu.edu), the
_Journal of the Bloopers_ (copyright Kevin Cox - Juan C. Walls), and the
Star Wars Nitpicker--Jason Lee (jlee@csua.berkeley.edu).

As always, the bloopers are arranged in the order in which they appear in
each of their respective movies, being _Star Wars IV: A New Hope_, _Star
Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back_, and _Star Wars VI: Return Of The Jedi_).
This was done so you could "read along" as the movies played.

If you have found a blooper that is not listed within this document, I
encourage you to mail me, Jeremy Kennedy, at ego@execulink.com with the addition.
You may also use the submissions form on my webpage located at:
http://www.execulink.com/~ego/starwars/

I've found that my personal criteria for a blooper may be a bit more
stringent than other lists out there. What some people consider a blooper,
I don't feel meets the definition of the word, and isn't included. I feel
that is for the reader's benefit. And so you know, I define "blooper" as
"an event or effect that was not desired by Lucasfilm but got past the
editing stage into the final cut of the movie."

I have included a credits section at the end, and since I was not the
original author of my sources, I have copied over their existing lists.
There may be a few places however where a name has been lost. If you feel
that your name has been left off, let me know, I am a reasonable guy!

F. The Star Wars Trilogy Trivia Viewers Guide

                              ---==========---
                                STAR WARS IV:
                                 A NEW HOPE
                              ---==========---

  1---==>}]SUBJECT: It Gets Lonely In Space
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this scene is when the rebel Blockade Runner is
      being chased by Vader's Star Destroyer.

           EVENT:

      As a joke, movie makers often put in little things that usually are
      never seen in the movie but at least they know they are there. One such
      case is in the Corellian Corvette at the very beginning of the movie.
      If you were able to see inside the front window of the ship, you would
      not only see a movie poster for _Star Wars IV: A New Hope_, but a
      Playboy Playmate hanging on the wall. There is a photo of this found in
      the book _From Star Wars To Indiana Jones--The Best Of The LucasFilm
      Archives_ by Mark Cotta Vaz and Shinji Hata, copyright 1994 Chronicle
      Books, San Francisco.

  2---==>}]SUBJECT:       R2-D2's Bad Guidance Sensors
           SCENE:

      When Leia is feeding R2-D2 the plans to the Death Star, on board the
      Corellian Corvette.

           EVENT:

      After Leia gives R2-D2 the message for Obi-Wan, R2 starts to roll away.
      If the scene had continued, he would have rolled into the wall and off
      the main pathway.

  3---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Moving Trooper
           SCENE:

      Vader interrogates on of the rebels on board the Blockade Runner as to
      the whereabouts of the Death Star plans.

           EVENT:

      Watch the leftmost stormtrooper. At the beginning of this scene, he
      is holding his blaster at his waist. As the camera cuts to a
      different angle, the trooper is holding the gun up to his chest, and
      as the camera cuts back to the original angle, the gun is back by the
      trooper's waist.

  4---==>}]SUBJECT:       Shy Stormtrooper?
           SCENE:

      Stormtroopers are searching the Blockade Runner for any hiding rebels.

           EVENT:

      The troops are looking in every corner and the camera cuts to Leia
      who pokes her head out from behind a pillar. We cut back to the
      troopers and if you notice in the bottom left of the screen behind the
      foremost "pillar" there is a white pant leg which sticks out then
      disappears back out of view.

  5---==>}]SUBJECT:       Forgetful Costume Designer
           SCENE:

      When the stormtroopers find Leia hiding in the corridor on the Blockade
      Runner, and prepare to stun her for delivery to Darth Vader.

           EVENT:

      The lead trooper says "There's one. Set for stun." He then gets shot
      by Leia. The trooper who then assumes the lead and shoots the stun
      blast at Leia has a different helmet than any other stormtrooper
      throughout the trilogy. On the sides of the helmet, near the bottom,
      on the part that almost looks like air feeder tubes, there are normally
      vertical slots or stripes. The trooper who shoots Leia is missing these
      slots.

  6---==>}]SUBJECT: Stupid Use Of The Force
           SCENE:

      During the Blockade Runner invasion, when Princess Leia is brought before
      Darth Vader.

           EVENT:

      When Vader is interrogating Leia, the first time we get a full face shot
      of him is when he says, "I want to know what happened to the plans they
      sent you." Look at his neck chain that holds his cape together; it is
      on top of the lip of his collar. The camera cuts back to Leia and then
      it goes back to Vader. Now, the chain has worked it's way underneath
      his collar. As the shot cuts back, Vader yells "Take her away!". Now,
      the magic cape chain has moved yet again, back above the lip of his
      collar.

  7---==>}]SUBJECT:       Blinded By The Light
           SCENE:

      Any scene featuring C-3PO.

           EVENT:

      Mostly visible during the first half of the movie, the lights in
      Threepio's eyes are off. As evidenced throughout the trilogy, we
      are shown that when his eyes are off, he cannot see, and is blind. If
      that is so, how can Threepio navigate around the desert. It is not
      just because the outside light is brighter than those in his eyes,
      because during the Tusken Raider attack when Luke and Threepio search
      for Artoo, when Threepio is stunned, his eye lights turn on.

  8---==>}]SUBJECT:       Threepio's Moving Stain
           SCENE:

      As Threepio walks past the skeleton of the dragon on Tatooine.

           EVENT:

      C-3PO has a large grease stain down the left side of his chest. A few
      minutes later this stain is on the right side. This is a result of the
      film being flipped in post production.

  9---==>}]SUBJECT:       Moving Gadgets
           SCENE:

      After the Jawas have captured Artoo in the canyon, and are about to
      attach the restraining bolt before he's put inside the Sandcrawler.

           EVENT:

      The Jawa walks up to Artoo and begins to attach the restraining bolt.
      Take notice of the "box" that he attaches it to. The Jawa places the
      restraining bolt in the vertical centre of this box. Then we see a
      close up of this scene, and still, the Jawa welds it to the centre of
      the box. We then cut back to a further away shot, and the restraining
      bolt is now near the very top of that box.

 10---==>}]SUBJECT: Kenny Baker, I Can See You
           SCENE:

      When Artoo first gets put into the Jawa's sandcrawler and he looks
      around at all the creatures in there.

           EVENT:

      You see R5-D4, the red R2 unit, and then right after the SECOND time we
      see the red R2, it cuts back to Artoo. He turns his head around and
      you can see the face of Kenny Baker inside through the bubble on
      Artoo's head.

 11---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Growing Plants
           SCENE:

      The Sandcrawler has stopped by the Lars residence and we get our first
      look at Luke Skywalker.

           EVENT:

      Luke's aunt Beru calls for him from down below in the residence. As
      Luke runs to the edge so he can look down to his Aunt, take note of
      any vegetation around him. There is one bush-like plant that we can
      see. In the next shot, we look up at Luke from down inside the crater.
      We see Luke, and there are three or four bushes and plants around him.
      When we change perspective to back above the crater, there is only one
      bush again.

 12---==>}]SUBJECT:       Loose Wiring
           SCENE:

      Uncle Owen is inspecting the prospective purchases and engages C-3PO
      in conversation.

           EVENT:

      Right before Luke whines about wishing to go into town to pick up
      some power converters, we see a side/rear shot of Threepio. In this
      shot, we can see a wire running up Threepio's back to the base of
      his neck/head. This wire is never seen again in any part of the
      trilogy.

 13---==>}]SUBJECT: R5-D4 In Two Places at Once
           SCENE:

      After Owen buys R5-D4, the red R2 unit, and it explodes.

           EVENT:

      As Owen points to R2-D2 and R2's head turns, you see a shot of the
      Jawas prepping R5-D4 from BEFORE Owen made his purchase.

 14---==>}]SUBJECT:       Bad Timing
           SCENE:

      Luke is cleaning Artoo and a holographic message appears.

           EVENT:

      When the message pops up, Leia's hologram says "Help me Obi-Wan
      Kenobi, you're my only hope." The problem here is that the gestures
      that Leia makes are not synchronized correctly with what the message
      does the rest of the time.

 15---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Hose Is Alive
           SCENE:

      The holographic message from Leia is playing for Luke and the droids.

           EVENT:

      Watch closely to the items in the background while the message plays.
      On the right of the screen, you will see a coiled up hose. When
      Threepio explains to Luke about how the restraining bolt has short
      circuited Artoo, the hose that was on the right, has moved to the
      left of the picture.

 16---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Disappearing Rag
           SCENE:

      Right after R2-D2 shows Luke the Leia hologram.

           EVENT:

      Near the end of this segment, watch 3PO's sleight of hand. In one
      shot, he's holding a rag, in the next shot he isn't, and in then next
      shot ("I'm sorry sir, but he appears to have picked up a slight
      flutter") he has the rag again, and in the next shot he doesn't.

 17---==>}]SUBJECT:       Fast Droids
           SCENE:

      In Luke's garage after hearing the message from Leia, and is about to
      leave to go and eat dinner.

           EVENT:

      The position of Artoo's head changes position instantaneously on
      several shots, as the camer cuts from close-ups to medium shots of
      the two droids.

 18---==>}]SUBJECT:       Aunt Beru the Ventriloquist
           SCENE:

      Any scene where Aunt Beru speaks.

           EVENT:

      If you watch Aunt Beru's lips whenever she speaks, you can notice that
      sometimes her lips are not moving exactly with her speech. This is
      because after the original theatrical release of the movie, Lucas had
      all of Beru's lines dubbed over. This is reportedly because Lucas felt
      that the real Beru's voice was too low and felt it needed to be changed.

 19---==>}]SUBJECT:       Luke's Drinking Problem
           SCENE:

      Owen, Beru and Luke are eating dinner.

           EVENT:

      Before Luke walks into the dining area, Beru is pouring a beverage into
      Luke's cup. The cup is slightly transparent, and you can see she fills
      it to about half way. A few seconds later, when Luke walks into the
      scene, Luke grabs the pitcher and pours the liquid into the same cup
      that Beru just did a few moments before, and it is empty.

 20---==>}]SUBJECT: Luke's Cup Keeps Switching Hands
           SCENE:

      When Luke is eating with Owen and Beru.

           EVENT:

      At the beginning part of this sequence, his cup is in his left hand.
      Later, it appears in his right hand.

 21---==>}]SUBJECT:       Rapidly Moving Suns
           SCENE:

      Luke storms out of the Lars dining area upset and walks outside.

           EVENT:

      Luke walks outside and stares into the Tatooine sky at the two suns
      (Tatoo I and Tatoo II). As the camera angle changes, the second time
      we see the dusk sky, the suns are clearly in different positions than
      they were mere seconds before. There is even a mountain partially
      blocking the lower of the stars the second time we see it.

 22---==>}]SUBJECT:       Day AND Night
           SCENE:

      After it is discovered that Artoo has run away. Luke and Threepio
      run outside to look for him.

           EVENT:

      During the conversation that Luke and Threepio have, you will see
      numerous shots of them from further away, and from medium distance.
      During the closer shots, the sky is much darker than it is during
      the further away shots.

           NOTES:

      This has been fixed in the Special Editions.

 23---==>}]SUBJECT:       Droid Without Power
           SCENE:

      Luke and Threepio are discussing what to do about the now missing
      Artoo.

           EVENT:

      Just as Threepio says "Pardon me sir, but wouldn't we go after him?",
      you are able to see a rope pulling the droid that is "rolling" in
      front of them from right to left.

 24---==>}]SUBJECT:       Armed attack
           SCENE:

      Ben has scared away the Tusken Raiders, and is gathering Luke and the
      droids for transport back to his house.

           EVENT:

      During the attack, one of Threepio's arms fall off. His left arm.
      However, when we see Luke pick up the severed arm, it appears to be
      Threepio's right arm.

 25---==>}]SUBJECT: You Didn't Lose Your Arm
           SCENE:

      Ben and Luke are gathering up the dismembered Threepio.

           EVENT:

      Luke is on the right of the screen, helping Ben to pick up Threepio.
      If you look just below the severed shoulder on Threepio as he is
      being picked up, there are a few split seconds where you can see
      Anthony Daniels' (the actor portraying Threepio) arm bent back
      behind his body, trying to stay out of sight.

 26---==>}]SUBJECT: Is Threepio On Or Off?
           SCENE:

      Luke, Ben and the droids are in Ben's hut and Ben is telling Luke of
      his father.

           EVENT:

      Threepio requests that he be powered off if he is not going to be
      needed, and Luke complies. But when Ben brings out Anakin's light
      saber to show Luke, when he powers it on, Threepio's head turns to see
      it, even though he is still powered off.

 27---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Disappearing Wall Hanging
           SCENE:

      Just after Ben gets out Anakin's light saber.

           EVENT:

      There is a "shawl" hanging on the wall which temporarily disappears,
      and then reappears in Obi Wan's house. It looks like a medium-brown
      macrame blanket. It is hanging on the left side of the plaster arch
      in the house. Notice it casts a shadow that sticks out to the left of
      the shadow cast by the arch, and just below the circular panel with
      the five lights on it. Right after Ben says "This is the weapon of a
      Jedi Knight . . .," the shawl disappears. After Luke turns off his
      saber, it is back.

 28---==>}]SUBJECT:       Choppy Lightsaber
           SCENE:

      Any scene where a lightsaber is ignited or retracted.

           EVENT:

      During every scene featuring lightsabers in _Star Wars IV: A New
      Hope_, when a lightsaber is ignited or retracted, the picture
      jumps around and becomes very choppy. This is because special
      effects had not been developed for this very well. What you are
      seeing is the film being stopped, the actors trying to remain
      perfectly still, while the lightsaber hilt is replaced for a
      "lit" lightsaber, which, during filming, was a stick placed in the
      lightsaber hilt.

 29---==>}]SUBJECT:       Nice Reflection
           SCENE:

      Luke is playing with his new lightsaber.

           EVENT:

      After Luke turns on the lightsaber, he swings it around. Watch
      Threepio on the left of the screen, and you can see the reflection of
      Luke's saber as he swings it. The blooper is that the reflection is
      of the solid stick, and not the coloured light that it should be.

 30---==>}]SUBJECT:       They Shouldn't Move
           SCENE:

      In Ben Kenobi's house when Artoo is playing the holographic message of
      Leia.

           EVENT:

      You'll notice the small table that Ben and Luke are sitting around, and
      Artoo is playing the message onto. Before the hologram begins, when
      we see the table, there appears to be two small objects resembling
      salt and pepper shakers, as well as a bowl or small kettle. When the
      hologram begins, and the camera's angle changes, the bowl disaappears,
      and even the shakers appear to have moved, albeit subtly. When the
      hologram disappears, the bowl returns to the table.

 31---==>}]SUBJECT:       The "Floating" Interrogation Droid
           SCENE:

      As Leia is about to be tortured on the Death Star.

           EVENT:

      In Leia's cell, you can see the crane that they used to make the
      interrogation droid float. This is between the droid and the right
      edge of the door.

 32---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Outrider
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this is only noticeable in the Special Edition,
      while Luke drives his landspeeder down the main street of the Mos
      Eisley Spaceport.

           EVENT:

      We see a humanoid type droid smack down a little annoying flying robot.
      Luke's speeder drives behind this scene from left to right, and the
      camera pulls back as we follow them. From the right, and flying to
      the left, near the top of the screen, you can see Dash Rendar's ship,
      the Outrider. Dash Rendar and the Outrider figured prominently in
      George Lucas' 1996 multimedia experience of _Shadows Of The Empire_,
      a story taking place between _Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back_,
      and _Star Wars VI: Return Of The Jedi_.

 33---==>}]SUBJECT: A Galaxy HOW Far Away?
           SCENE:

      Luke and friends have entered the Cantina.

           EVENT:

      We cut to the first wide shot of the bar, which pans from left to
      right. In the top left of the screen, one man in a traditional
      looking astronaut suit walks out from the bar and into view. On
      the left shoulder of this man, you can see what appears to be the
      flag of the United States Of America.

 34---==>}]SUBJECT:       Empty Headed Alien
           SCENE:

      Luke and Ben first walk into the cantina and the camera pans across
      the room showing us the vast diversity of aliens in the bar.

           EVENT:

      As the camera cuts around the room, we see a small little "mousy"
      alien beg for a drink at the bar. As he turns his head look closely
      at his eyes, as you can see through one eye and out the other, right
      through his head.

 35---==>}]SUBJECT:       Cantina Characters
           SCENE:

      When Luke is sitting at the bar in the Cantina after ordering a drink.

           EVENT:

      He takes a glance around the Cantina. The camera then gives us shots
      of various aliens. After the shot that shows a big alien apparently
      laughing, they cut to two blue skinned aliens known as Duros engaging
      in a conversation. One is holding up his hands like he doesn't
      understand what the other one's saying. If you look at their hands,
      the one on the right has big, purple, very alien hands. The one on
      the left is wearing white gloves over human hands.

 36---==>}]SUBJECT:       Flurry Of Action
           SCENE:

      Two aliens pick on Luke and start a fight.

           EVENT:

      The man with the crushed in nose pulls a gun out into view and
      aims it at the lightsaber wielding Ben Kenobi. If you look
      closely, this gun has a very long sight along the top of it.
      Kenobi attacks, and Walrus Man's (the other alien) arm is
      sliced off. When we see the severed arm on the floor, it is
      near the gun. The gun, presumably the one that the other man
      had drawn, is missing the sight that was on it before.

 37---==>}]SUBJECT:       No Coordination
           SCENE:

      Just after Ben and Luke bargain with Solo and Chewie for transport
      aboard the Falcon.

           EVENT:

      After Han says "It looks like someone's beginning to take an interest
      in your handy work," the camera pans over the crowded bar to a pair of
      stormtroopers walking there way. If you look in the middle of the
      screen for the "mousy" alien with the see-through eyes, as he takes
      a drink of his beverage, he clearly misses his mouth and hits his chin
      instead.

 38---==>}]SUBJECT: That Wasn't Greedo, Was It?
           SCENE:

      The Greedo/Han Solo "meeting" at the Cantina.

           EVENT:

      If you watch by freezing the frames right before Han blasts Greedo, you
      see the actor who plays Greedo replaced by a really bad dummy that
      explodes. The dummy doesn't even come close to matching the actor
      (much thinner, slightly taller, different jacket, and it's not even
      holding a gun!).

 39---==>}]SUBJECT:       All Terrain Artoo
           SCENE:

      Our heros enter Docking Bay 94 to prepare for their voyage to Alderaan.

           EVENT:

      Everyone walks down a set of steps to get to the docking bay floor.
      Artoo however is having VERY much trouble navigating the steps, and it
      is quite humourous to watch. As soon as the camera is off him by panning
      to the right, take notice of where Artoo was. He was about halfway down
      the stairs. All of a sudden, Artoo appears, rolling from the left of
      the screen. There is no way he could have made it down the rest of the
      stairs that fast given the trouble he had been experiencing before.

           NOTES:

      This can only be seen in the widescreen versions.

 40---==>}]SUBJECT: The Falcon's Not Finished Yet
           SCENE:

      Chewbacca escorts Luke, Ben, Threepio and Artoo into Docking Bay 94
      for their first glimpse of the Falcon.

           EVENT:

      The camera pans from the left of the screen where our heroes enter, to
      the right, where the Falcon is parked. Take note of the top right of
      the screen. The Falcon is missing it's trademark radar dish.

 41---==>}]SUBJECT:       Fuzzy Dice
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, it is funny to see. The scene is in the
      docking bay at Mos Eisley, and Chewbacca boards the Millennium Falcon.

           EVENT:

      When Chewbacca enters the cockpit to sit down, he brushes his head on
      two small objects hanging from the ceiling which resemble a pair of
      dice. These dice are never seen again throughout the trilogy.

 42---==>}]SUBJECT: Again And Again And Again
           SCENE:

      Stormtroopers barge into the docking bay at Mos Eisley in an attempt
      to stop the Millennium Falcon's escape.

           EVENT:

      The troopers come into the docking bay, and one of them yells "Stop
      that ship." We cut to a shot of Chewbacca, and then back to the
      entryway of the docking bay. A trooper in the centre of the screen,
      at the back, and running from left to right begins to fall when a
      shot hits the ceiling directly above him. He falls down on his
      knees, and then on his face. We cut to a shot of Han, then back to
      the troopers. We just see the blast hit the ceiling, and the same
      trooper is already falling to the ground. Again we cut to Han, and
      then back to the troopers, where we see, yet again, the same blast
      hit the ceiling, and the same trooper falling to the ground.

 43---==>}]SUBJECT:       Millennium Falcon's Stowaway
           SCENE:

      After Han runs into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon during the
      firefight with the stormtroopers in the Mos Eisley docking bay.

           EVENT:

      Behind Han and Chewie, there is a person with a green shirt standing in
      the corridor. A few seconds later he moves out of the shot.

           NOTES:

      This may be Ben Kenobi's back, using a cut from a scene later in the
      movie, such as when they make the jump to light speed a moment later.
      This blooper is only found in the letterboxed movie.

 44---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Falcon's Windows
           SCENE:

      Any shot with the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.

           EVENT:

      There is an inconsistency in the number of "window frames" in the
      Millennium Falcon's cockpit. The cockpit features a single circular
      window facing front, with a rim of windows immediately around that,
      surrounded by more windows. It is the first rim of windows that has
      the inconsistency--when we see from inside the cockpit, there are only
      three windows, with window frames as so:

                         _\/_

      However, when we see an exterior shot of the Falcon, this rim is
      divided into quarters, as so:

                         _\|/_

 45---==>}]SUBJECT:       It's A Hunk Of Junk
           SCENE:

      The Falcon has just blasted out of the spaceport, and Han realizes
      that there are two Star Destroyers in pursuit.

           EVENT:

      Han is sitting in the cockpit and says the line "Stay sharp. Two
      coming in." Han gets up and checks the NavaComputer. When he sits
      back down he grabs part of the "dashboard" as he sits. When he does
      this, the entire control panel tips and lifts up. Not very stable
      at all.

 46---==>}]SUBJECT:       Gloves/No Gloves
           SCENE:

      The Falcon is about to make the jump into lightspeed.

           EVENT:

      Han says the line "Go strap yourselves in." and mentions that they are
      about to jump into hyperspace. Up until this point, Han had been
      wearing gloves. But when the camera cuts to a shot of the pilots from
      behind, and Han pulls the lever to make the jump, he is no longer
      wearing gloves.

 47---==>}]SUBJECT:       Saber Shadows
           SCENE:

      Luke is practising some lightsaber skills on board the Falcon.

           EVENT:

      As Luke plays around with the remote, you can see a shadow of the
      "stick" used as the lightsaber against his tunic.

 48---==>}]SUBJECT:       Vader's Gesturing
           SCENE:

      There is a scene where Darth and Tarkin are talking about Leia's
      deception over the rebel base allegedly being on Dantooine.

           EVENT:

      During part of the exchange, Darth stops talking, but keeps gesturing
      as though he is saying something. Tarkin doesn't respond to his
      comment until after he stops gesturing. Obviously, they had some
      difficulty timing the voice over with Prowse's movements in this
      scene.

 49---==>}]SUBJECT:       More Cheap Costumes
           SCENE:

      The Death Star crew prepares for the capture of the Millennium Falcon.

           EVENT:

      After seeing the Falcon being drawn closer to the station, we see
      shots of troopers scurrying to get to their posts. One of those
      scenes is four troopers following a rolling "mouse-bot" on the floor.
      The second trooper behind this mouse-bot has an incomplete helmet.
      On a normal trooper, on either side of their mouthpiece are a
      black "button" or "point". The incomplete trooper is missing the
      button on our right side of the mouthpiece.

 50---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Falcon Needs Support
           SCENE:

      The Millennium Falcon is caught by the Death Star's tractor beam and
      is being pulled on board the station.

           EVENT:

      As the Falcon enters the hanger bay of the Death Star, watch the
      bottom centre of the ship as it passes through the hanger door. The
      edge of the door is lit with a white light, but as the ship passes
      through, the light is "broken" by the vertical pole that was used to
      hold the model of the ship.

 51---==>}]SUBJECT:       MORE Cheap Costumes
           SCENE:

      The Imperial scanning crew has boarded the Falcon and been knocked
      out. Han yells down "Hey down there, could you give us a hand
      here?"

           EVENT:

      Two troopers look at each other, and then go up the ramp to the
      Falcon. The trooper on the left of the screen, when he turns his
      back to us, is missing the canister on the small of his back that
      all other stormtroopers have. This is the stormtrooper armour that
      Luke wears during our hero's assault to the detention block.

 52---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Scans
           SCENE:

      Our heros are in a Death Star control room while Artoo scans their
      computer network to find where the tractor beam can be disabled.

           EVENT:

      After Artoo locates where the tractor beam can be disabled, the scene
      cuts to Ben saying "I don't think you boys can help." Look directly
      behind Ben to a display showing a red "sensor beam" sweeping a circle
      over a schematic of the Death Star.

      Immediately we cut to a shot of Ben saying "I must go alone", and the
      sensor beam is almost half way around the schematic. If you notice
      the speed in which this beam sweeps in previous shots, there is no
      way that the beam could have travelled that far around the picture
      in such a near instant time frame.

 53---==>}]SUBJECT:       Camoflauge Costume
           SCENE:

      Han, Luke and Chewbacca wait for an elevator down to the detention
      block.

           EVENT:

      There is a wide shot from above showing the three wait for a lift.
      From the left of the screen, you see an officer walk by who is wearing
      a grey shirt. We then cut instantly to a closer shot of the three,
      and the man walking by our heros is wearing a black shirt.

 54---==>}]SUBJECT:       Say Cheese!
           SCENE:

      As Han looks for Leia's cell number and speaks into the intercom in the
      detention area.

           EVENT:

      Just after Han shoots the control panel and yells to Luke, look over
      his shoulder on the left of the screen. You will notice two racks of
      security cameras hanging from the ceiling, untouched, even after our
      heroic trio very thoroughly destroyed them all.

 55---==>}]SUBJECT:       Shells for Laser Ammunition?
           SCENE:

      Virtually in any battle, the best is in the battle with the
      stormtroopers immediately after Leia has been pulled out of her cell
      (right before she blows a hole in the wall).

           EVENT:

      The laser rifles are actually modified Sterling 9mm submachine guns,
      and when filming the shootouts they used blank bullets (so they would
      know when they were shot, and they would simulate "kickback") which
      ejected spent cases as if they were real bullets.

 56---==>}]SUBJECT:       Magic Hair
           SCENE:

      During the cell bay shootout, and Leia gets lippy with our heros.

           EVENT:

      Leia says "This is some rescue". Notice that a little piece of hair
      has slipped out of the buns and is loose on her forehead, on our left
      hand side. The camera cuts to Han, and then back to Leia. The loose
      piece of hair is miraculously tucked back into the bun.

 57---==>}]SUBJECT:       Restocking The Weapons
           SCENE:

      Our heros are battling in the corridor of the detention block.

           EVENT:

      Luke uses the comlink to call up to the droids in the Death Star
      control room to ask how to get out. On the right of the screen, next
      to the red and black computer panels, there is a gun rack, which is
      stocked with three blaster rifles.

      Later on in the movie, when the stormtroopers barge into the control
      room with the droids, the gun rack has four rifles in it.

 58---==>}]SUBJECT:       Chewie's Deja Vu
           SCENE:

      During the shootout in the detention area, Leia shoots a hole in the
      grate leading to the trash compactor.

           EVENT:

      Leia tosses her blaster to Luke and jumps in and Chewie begins to
      follow and places one foot in the hole. The camera cuts away to Han
      shooting down the hallway. The camera cuts back to the wookie who is
      again walking towards the compactor and places the same foot in the
      hole again.

 59---==>}]SUBJECT:       Flimsy Grating
           SCENE:

      Han has blasted a hole in the grate leading to the trash compactor, and
      our heros are jumping through.

           EVENT:

      Han is the last one to jump through, and as he jumps through the hole,
      his foot hits the alleged metal grate, however, you can see it giggle
      as Han passes by.

 60---==>}]SUBJECT:       Moving Blaster Burns
           SCENE:

      In the trash compactor after Han jumps in.

           EVENT:

      When Han lands, he fires his blaster at the door in an attempt to open
      it. The blast hits the door on the left, and creates a dark grey
      discolouration. In the next and subsequent scenes, the blaster burns
      disappear, reappear and move all over the door.

 61---==>}]SUBJECT:       Speak Up Luke!
           SCENE:

      After you hear the roar of the Dianoga in the trash compactor and right
      before he is pulled under.

           EVENT:

      Luke turns his head and moves his mouth, but nothing comes out. It is
      quite easy to read Luke's lips saying "What's that?". A moment later
      you see him do it again but you can only catch the end of what he said
      and therefore cannot decipher it.

 62---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Change Leia
           SCENE:

      Luke gets pulled underwater by the trash compactor beast and our
      heroes wait for him to resurface.

           EVENT:

      Leia and Han wait nervously for their friend to come out of the
      water. The camera cuts to Leia as she leans to our left against some
      garbage. The camera then goes in for a close-up of Leia who is now
      leaning forward and to our right, with no time to change between the
      camera shots.

 63---==>}]SUBJECT:       Stormtrooper's Low Clearance
           SCENE:

      When Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie are inside the trash compactor, in the
      Death Star.

           EVENT:

      After the compactor has started and Luke is yelling into the comlink,
      the camera cuts to C-3PO's comlink sitting on the table, and then to
      the security door. The door opens and Stormtroopers walk in. The
      trooper behind and on the right of the lead trooper hits his head.

 64---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Incredible Shrinking Stormtrooper
           SCENE:

      Artoo and Threepio are found by the imperials in the control room.

           EVENT:

      One stormtrooper hangs back to guard the door which is low enough for
      someone to hit their head on. The camera cuts to a different angle
      and there is all of a sudden plenty of clearance between the trooper's
      head and the bottom of the door.

 65---==>}]SUBJECT:       Space Age Metal
           SCENE:

       Right after we hear Threepio say "Use the comlink? Oh my, I forgot."

           EVENT:

      The camera cuts back to our heroes in the trash compactor. Leia
      grabs a metal pole to try and brace the walls. Watch her left hand as
      she grabs it. It actually "crunches" momentarily when she clutches
      it, and when she loosens her grip, it returns to normal suggesting a
      VERY weak metal not even worth trying to brace the wall with.

 66---==>}]SUBJECT:       Indecisive Chewie
           SCENES:

      While our heroes are trapped in the trash compactor, after Han speaks
      the line "One thing is for sure, we're all going to be a lot thinner."

           EVENT:

      We are shown a medium close up of Chewbacca who is pushing against the
      wall with his hands. He then turns to our right to grab his blaster.
      We are then shown a shot from further away where Chewie is once again
      pushing against the wall. After a few seconds, Chewie turns around
      again to grab his blaster.

 67---==>}]SUBJECT: Make Up Your Mind Chewie
           SCENES:

      Just before the droids disable the trash compactor.

           EVENT:

      We are shown a wide shot where Chewie is bracing the wall with his
      bowcaster and he is keeping it steady. We cut to a close up of the
      wookie who is pushing against the wall with his hands. Finally we cut
      back to a wide shot where Chewie is once again bracing the wall with
      his bowcaster.

 68---==>}]SUBJECT:       Colourful Trash
           SCENE:

      Han, Leia, Luke, and Chewbacca have exited the trash compactor and
      begin to compose themselves.

           EVENT:

      In the first scene, if you look past our heros and through the door
      into the trash compactor, you will notice that the contents of the
      room are very dark. Lots of browns and blacks. However, in all the
      camera shots afterwards, if you look through the door, there are
      orange objects on the left side resembling road pylons that were not
      there before.

 69---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Hands
           SCENES:

      Our heros have escaped the trash compactor. Leia and Han are
      exchanging insults.

           EVENT:

      Keep an eye on Luke while Leia says "From now on, you do what I tell
      you." He is holding his blaster in his left hand, which is up by
      his head. When the camera cuts to a different angle, Luke's left
      hand is down by his side.

 70---==>}]SUBJECT:       More Quick Hands
           SCENE:

      Luke and Leia are on the bridge that needed to be extended.

           EVENT:

      Luke throws the grappling line up and prepares to swing across. Leia
      throws both of her arms around Luke's neck and gives him a kiss. But
      when we instantly cut to a far shot of the pair swinging across, Leia's
      hands are clinging to his waist.

 71---==>}]SUBJECT:       Who Dressed You Vader?
           SCENE:

      During Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber battle on board the
      Death Star.

           EVENT:

      During a brief pause in the action, the camera cuts to a medium shot
      of Vader while he speaks the line "You should not have come back."
      Vader's chest plate is backwards in this scene.

 72---==>}]SUBJECT:       More Saber Shadows
           SCENES:

      During Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber battle on board the
      Death Star.

           EVENT:

      On several occasions you can see a shadow of the lightsabers against
      the wall as the two duel. The instances are too numerous to mention.

 73---==>}]SUBJECT:       Out of Batteries?
           SCENES:

      During Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber battle on board the
      Death Star.

           EVENT:

      There are several times when things are positioned just right that you
      can see a white power cord used to light up Ben's lightsaber. This
      effect was later scrapped and the "light" was added in
      post-production.

 74---==>}]SUBJECT: The Lightsabers Have Lost Their Shine
           SCENE:

      During Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber battle on board the
      Death Star.

           EVENT:

      There are two or three shots of Ben when his lightsaber had not been
      coloured. As well, after Ben is killed, Vader's light saber is white,
      instead of red. This is because the colouring was added after the film
      was made, and the optical effects crews forgot to add colour to this
      one scene. The white is the actual colour of the rod. The most
      notable instance of this is after Vader slays Ben and we see Darth
      Vader from across the hanger bay. His saber is white.

 75---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Shadows . . .
           SCENE:

      When Chewie and Han arrive first in the hallway leading to the
      Millennium Falcon before the line "Didn't we just leave this party?"

           EVENT:

      You can see the shadows of Luke and Leia, who are waiting to run in on
      cue right after Han and Chewie run in.

 76---==>}]SUBJECT:       Artoo's Weak Legs
           SCENE:

      In the Death Star hangar bay, before Luke, Han, Chewbacca and Leia
      make a run for their ship.

           EVENT:

      Threepio turns to Artoo and says "Come on Artoo, we're going".
      Artoo extends his third leg and begins to roll. In the next shot,
      Han instructs his party that they too are going to make a break for
      the Falcon. We cut back to Artoo, and if you look at the base of
      his legs, his back two legs appear to be joined by a white bar
      which is very close to the floor.

 77---==>}]SUBJECT:       Malfunctioning Lightsaber
           SCENE:

      Ben notices that our heros are trying to escape, and puts his
      lightsaber up in sacrifice.

           EVENT:

      When Vader takes his long sweeping slice to Ben, Vader's saber
      passes through Ben's lightsaber blade slightly above the hilt,
      when in all other occasions, lightsaber blades could not pass
      through each other.

 78---==>}]SUBJECT:       Do It Again
           SCENES:

      Darth Vader just slays Obi Wan Kenobi and a firefight erupts in the
      hanger bay of the Death Star.

           EVENT:

      Everyone except Luke has taken refuge in the Millenium Falcon. Obi
      Wan's spirit instructs Luke to run, and he does. We see a medium
      close up of Luke. He is holding his blaster with two hands. He
      turns, and drops his blaster down by his side, holding it with only
      one hand. We then cut to a further away shot, and see Luke holding
      the blaster with two hands, and then dropping it down to his sides
      again!

 79---==>}]SUBJECT:       Leia's Fast Moves
           SCENE:

      Everyone except Luke has moved towards the Falcon's boarding ramp.

           EVENT:

      Leia runs up the ramp, and stops, standing behind the ramp support
      beam closest to the camera. As the camera cuts to different angles,
      Leia shifts position from behind the support beam, to beside the
      loading ramp, and back, numerous times.

 80---==>}]SUBJECT:       Falcon Needs More Support
           SCENES:

      The Millenium Falcon escapes the Death Star, and Han notices that
      some TIE fighters are in pursuit.

           EVENT:

      Han and Luke are waiting in the gun ports of the Millenium Falcon.
      Leia calls over the comlink "Here they come!". The shot changes to
      a rear exterior view of the Millenium Falcon as the TIEs overtake
      her. If you look at the white engine glow coming from the rear of
      the Falcon, you can see a black vertical bar, which was the support
      for the model used in filming.

 81---==>}]SUBJECT:       Inconsistency of Hyperspace
           SCENES:

      After the Falcon escapes from the Death Star and battles free of the
      pursuing TIE fighters.

           EVENT:

      The last of the fighters are destroyed and the Falcon jumps to
      hyperspace. We cut back to a conversation between Tarkin and Vader,
      and then back to the cockpit of the Falcon. As Han and Leia speak,
      if you look out the window, there are the plain stars of "normal
      space" and not the fuzzy white of hyperspace, that we see earlier in
      the film.

 82---==>}]SUBJECT:       Mirrored Heroes
           SCENE:

      Our heroes just arrive at the Yavin 4 Base and are departing a
      transport.

           EVENT:

      After Leia speaks the line "We have no time for sorrows Commander" the
      camera cuts to Artoo being unloaded from a transport. The film has
      been reversed. The easiest ways to pick this out is to look at Artoo,
      or Han's holster. It's hanging off his left hip, instead of his
      right.

 83---==>}]SUBJECT:       Poor Plans
           SCENE:

      During the rebel briefing conducted by General Dodonna.

           EVENT:

      The General shows the rebels the Death Star plans downloaded from
      Artoo's memory banks. The "detailed" plans however are flawed, because
      they show the Death Star's main turret centred along the equator, when
      in reality, the turret was clearly on the northern hemisphere of the
      battle station.

            NOTES:

      This was because the model of the Death Star used in the film was
      changed halfway through productions for reasons unknown. However, the
      computer graphics had already been made for the original model and it
      was either too late or too expensive (or both) to change them to
      reflect the new model.

 84---==>}]SUBJECT:       Bad Timing
           SCENE:

      The Death Star approaches the rebel base on Yavin IV, while Tarkin
      and Vader watch a viewscreen.

           EVENT:

      A voice comes over the intercom and announces that the rebel base
      would be in range in thirty minutes. The screen changes, and shows
      a countdown timer, starting at thirty. As the movie progresses, the
      time displayed on the viewscreen does not match the time announced
      by the Death Star crews.

 85---==>}]SUBJECT:       Precision Ground Crew
           SCENE:

      In the rebel hanger on Yavin before the battle, as Luke prepares to
      board his X-Wing before the battle.

           EVENT:

      The shot consists of a matte with two ranks of X-Wings superimposed
      on top, one shot small the other large. If one watches the movements
      of ground crew closely, the large frame action is repeated a few
      seconds later in the smaller superimposition.

 86---==>}]SUBJECT:       Pilots Switching Helmets
           SCENE:

      The rebel pilots scramble in the hanger bay to get to their ships in
      preparation of the Death Star attack.

           EVENT:

      With the exception of Luke, every pilot you see boarding a ship, or
      running frantically through the hanger is shown holding a very clean
      white helmet. The only markings on these helmets are blue "rebel"
      logos, similar to the ones on Luke's helmet. However, once the
      pilots are in flight, we do not see even one pilot wearing the
      blue logo covered helmet.

 87---==>}]SUBJECT:       Broken Speedometer
           SCENES:

      The rebel fleet is on it's way to the Death Star.

           EVENT:

      We see the fighters from behind as they approach the Death Star.
      Given it's tremendous size, and the rate at which it is growing
      larger to our view, their rate of approach must be incredible.
      Moments leader, as they are about to begin the attach run itself,
      Red Leader calls "Accelerate to attack speed", and yet, when you
      consider their speed with their surroundings, they are now going much
      slower than when they were on their approach.

 88---==>}]SUBJECT:       Threepio's Moving Dent
           SCENE/EVENT:

      Near the beginning of the movie, C-3PO gets a dent on the left side of
      his head when he falls and breaks off his arm; he still has this dent
      throughout the movie, but in one shot at the end, when he's next to
      Leia in the Rebel Control Room, the film has been reversed--his dent
      is on his right side, and Leia is now on the other side of him. This
      is repeated several times throughout the battle.

 89---==>}]SUBJECT:       Reversed Red Leader
           SCENE:

      As the rebel fleet approaches the Death Star.

           EVENT:

      Red Leader's microphone attached to his helmet, switches from side to
      side. This is a result of the film being flipped during post
      production. This happens as he speaks the line "All wings, report
      in!"

 90---==>}]SUBJECT:       Mirrored Luke
           SCENES:

      During the battle over the Death Star.

           EVENT:

      After Red Leader says the line "Watch it, there's a lot of fire
      coming from the right side of that deflection tower," you will notice
      that Luke's microphone switches over to the opposite side of his
      helmet for that shot.

 91---==>}]SUBJECT:       Revolving Windows
           SCENES:

      During the battle over the Death Star, after the TIE fighters are
      launched.

           EVENT:

      If you watch closely, you will notice a difference between how the
      cockpit window of a TIE fighter looks from outside (the miniature
      model) and from inside with the pilot's eye view.
      From the outside, the windows are configured as follows:

                                    |
                                 \  |  /
                                  \.^./
                                  /   \
                              ---<     >---
                                  \   /
                                  /'v'\
                                 /  |  \
                                    |

      But when viewed from the inside of the cockpit, the windows are
      arranged like this:

                                  \    /
                               -_  \__/  _-
                                 - /  \ -
                                  |    |
                                _- \__/ -_
                               -   /  \   -
                                  /    \

 92---==>}]SUBJECT:       Reversed Red Leader . . Again!!
           SCENE:

      During the battle over the Death Star, right before Red Leader's
      untimely death.

           EVENT:

      Red Leader's microphone attached to his helmet, switches from side to
      side. This is a result of the film being flipped during post
      production.

 93---==>}]SUBJECT:       Mistaken Identity
           SCENE:

      During the battle over the Death Star after Luke kills the TIE pursuing
      Biggs.

           EVENT:

      Luke now has TIE following him. Wedge says "I'm on him, Luke! Hold
      On!" After a few tense moments, Luke says "Blast it! Biggs, where are
      you?" Didn't Wedge say he was taking care of the TIE fighter? Perhaps
      you could argue that Luke was getting scared and wished his boyhood
      hero to help him since Wedge was taking so long, but even in the
      script Luke says "Blast it! Wedge, where are you?"

 94---==>}]SUBJECT:       Mirrored Control
           SCENE:

      After Biggs' death and Luke gets shot.

           EVENT:

      Luke speaks into his microphone announcing to the control room that
      he's alright. We get a view of one of the controllers who's headset
      is on his left ear. But in the next cut, it's on his right.

 95---==>}]SUBJECT:       No Wreckage
           SCENE:

      After Red Leader's failed attack on the Death Star, and Darth Vader
      is in pursuit.

           EVENT:

      One of Vader's shots connect, and Red Leader's ship plummets towards
      the surface of the Death Star. We watch this happen from above,
      just after Luke looks out his cockpit window. If you watch this
      scene in slow motion, it is quite noticeable that no wreckage
      actually hits the surface, there is only an explosion. Because the
      camera moves very quickly in this scene, you wouldn't normally
      notice this without slow motion or pausing the picture.

 96---==>}]SUBJECT: Gold Five, Who Are You?
           SCENE:

      When Gold Five is going on his attack run on the Death Star trench.

           EVENT:

      Gold Five calls out, "Gold Five to Red Leader," to which Red Leader's
      response is, "I copy, Gold Leader."

           NOTES:

      At this point in the movie, both Gold Leader and Gold Two are dead.
      Because we never see (or hear) from Gold Three or Four (assuming there
      is a Gold Three and Four in this battle) it is possible that Gold Five
      is the leader of the Gold squadron. However, standard military
      protocol dictates that although command can be delegated to others, but
      not the position. The most probable name that he would be called would
      be "Acting Gold Leader" although that cannot be verified.

      The only exception is in the navy, where a Commander is able to be the
      commanding officer on a ship. Although in rank, he/she is a commander,
      he/she is referred to as Captain by all except those ranking higher
      than commander.

      Furthermore, since Red Leader presumably ranks higher than Gold Leader
      due to the fact that Gold Leader reports to Red Leader that he is
      starting his attack run. Even if Gold Five was acting commander,
      protocol would dictate that Red Leader refers to Gold Five by his
      actual rank, and not Gold Leader.

      Also worth noting is the fact that in the script, Red Leader says
      "I copy Gold Five."

 97---==>}]SUBJECT:       Instant Windows
           SCENE:

      Wedge complains that he is hit, and Luke orders him to head back to
      base.

           EVENT:

      As Wedge leaves the trench, we cut to a shot of Vader sitting in his
      TIE fighter, in which he orders his wingmen to let Wedge go, and to
      stay on the leader. This shot is from slightly above Vader's head,
      and you can see a window behind him. This window is not shown in
      any other shot of Vader's TIE fighter, and if you look at Vader's
      TIE fighter, there is no window at all on the back.

 98---==>}]SUBJECT:       Black Space
           SCENES:

      Luke is making his trench run with the targeting computer engaged,
      and Ben tells him to turn it off.

           EVENT:

      If you look out the rear left and right windows behind Luke, it is
      absolutely black outside. This is unlike all the other times when
      you can see a starfield and the sides of the Death Star trench
      flying past the windows.

 99---==>}]SUBJECT:       Teleporting TIE Fighters
           SCENE:

      Han Solo comes to the rescue of Luke and attacks Vader and his
      wingmen.

           EVENT:

      In the shot where the left hand TIE fighter is hit and crashes into
      Vader's TIE fighter, if you pause the picture when that scene first
      begins, the left-most TIE fighter is not there for the first three or
      four frames, only to reappear moments into the scene.

100---==>}]SUBJECT:       Paper Peanut Gallery
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this scene is when our heros walk into the
      main room of the Yavin IV rebel base to receive their medals.

            EVENT:

      The rebels that you see on the extreme left and extreme right of the
      screen are actually cardboard cutouts of rebles, in an attempt to
      make the room look more filled.

           NOTES:

      In versions of the film before the Special Editions, the colouring
      of these "people" looks a lot more bland in comparison to the real
      people in the scene. In the Special Editions, the colouring has
      been touched up to make them look more real.

101---==>}]SUBJECT:       Bad Lip Synch

      Leia is about to hand out the medals at the victory ceremony after the
      Death Star's destruction.

           EVENT:

      We have a close up of Han Solo and then we cut back to Leia who is
      displaying a very wide smile. She turns to our right to General
      Dodonna to get Solo's medal, but when the camera immediately shows us
      a slightly wider angle, Leia's mouth is closed.

           EVENT:

      The actor that played Wedge Antilles is credited as being played by
      Dennis Lawson. The actor's first name however, is spelled with only
      one "n", and is spelled correctly--as Denis Lawson--in the other

           SCENE:

      Luke narrowly escapes the Wampa creature in his cave on Hoth.

           EVENT:

      After Luke cuts off the Wampa's arm, he runs out of the cave with
      his lightsaber still lit. However, as he runs out, you can hear the
      tell tale sound of a lightsaber retracting, but the lightsaber is
      quite visibly on.

  2---==>}]SUBJECT:       Change Of Uniform
           SCENE:

      Luke runs out of the cave of the Wampa.

           EVENT:

      Luke runs out of the cave and stumbles for the first time, and lays
      down on his back. The rank insignia badge (and it may be tough to
      see), which is normally on his right breast, is now on his left.

      Later, Look at the medium close-ups of Han as he talks to luke. On
      his right breast, there is a rank insignia badge (it may be tough to
      see). After Han grabs Luke's lightsaber to slice open the Tauntaun,
      the badge changes to his left breast, as a result of the film being
      reversed in post production.

  3---==>}]SUBJECT:       Automatic Doors
           SCENE:

      Han and Luke are missing on the ice fields of Hoth while Leia and
      Chewie worry about the pair.

           EVENT:

      Two rebel officers approach Leia and inform her that it's late and the
      shield doors must be closed. The officer barely has time to give the
      order when you can see the doors begin to close over Chewie's shoulder
      on the right of the screen, but the doors make no sound. We cut to a
      wider shot of Chewie and the doors, but the doors are motionless.
      Then, the doors begin to close--FOR A SECOND TIME--but at least this
      time, they make the appropriate sound.

  4---==>}]SUBJECT:       Transparent Speeders
           SCENE:

      Any scene featuring an shot from inside of a snow speeder.

           EVENT:

      Because of problems the special effects team had with matting in the
      snow speeders on the white backgrounds of Hoth, you can actually see
      through the cockpit and windshield supports of the speeders. This is
      especially noticeable during the battle of Hoth, when the speeders
      are weaving through the legs of the AT-AT walkers.

           NOTES:

      This has been corrected for the Special Editions.

  5---==>}]SUBJECT:       Need Sound Proof Doors
           SCENE:

      Luke is recovering in the rebel sick bay on Hoth after enduring the
      bacta tank therapy.

           EVENT:

      Luke is laying in his bed when Han and the others come to visit him.
      Listen closely, as you can hear Han say "How ya feelin' kid?" even
      before the doors to sick bay open. About two or three words are
      spoken before the hiss of the doors is heard.

  6---==>}]SUBJECT:       Everybody Knows Your Name
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this scene is when Leia is briefing the rebel
      pilots of the evacuation procedures.

           EVENT:

      A character named Major Derlin claps his hands and orders everyone to
      their stations when Leia finishes speaking. This character was played
      by John Ratzenberger, who is better known as Cliff Claven off of the
      long running NBC comedy _Cheers_.

  7---==>}]SUBJECT:       A Change Of Weather
           SCENE:

      During outdoor scenes during the battle of Hoth.

           EVENT:

      Watch the sky closely during all the different shots during the battle.
      From shot to shot, the weather actually changes. In some shots, the
      sky is blue, and totally clear of clouds, then clear with some clouds,
      then very grey and overcast. This all appears instantly from camera
      shot to shot.

  8---==>}]SUBJECT:       Shadowless Speeder
           SCENE:

      Wedge's speeder attacks an AT-AT after Luke loses his gunner.

           EVENT:

      Wedge's gunner, Janson, fires his harpoon at a leg of one of the
      AT-AT's. During the first shot of this sequence, their snow speeder
      casts a shadow on the snowy surface below. But during all other shots
      of this sequence, there is no shadow to be found.

  9---==>}]SUBJECT:       Side Stepping AT-AT
           SCENE:

      Luke climbs up to the belly of an AT-AT and places an explosive inside
      of it.

           EVENT:

      After Luke sets the explosive, he falls to the ground to watch the
      walker's destruction. The AT-AT visibly and audibly takes only one
      step before the charge goes off. However, Luke, still down on the
      ground is MUCH further away from the walker than one step.

           SCENE:

      Luke places a charge in the belly of an AT-AT and it's about to
      explode.

           EVENT:

      The camera cuts to a shot from low and in front of the AT-AT. Watch
      the AT-AT's rear left leg. Just before it falls, you can see a stick
      pop up from the ground to tip the leg, and eventually the entire
      AT-AT over.

           SCENE:

      Han pounds a panel on the Falcon's control panel, bringing it's systems
      to live, and our heros escape the attacked rebel base.

           EVENT:

      The camera shows Luke outside the base and he watches the Falcon as it
      escapes. Unfortunately, the effect was not timed up with Luke's
      movements, and his head actually moves consistantly ahead of the
      Falcon's movements.

 12---==>}]SUBJECT:       Black Artoo
           SCENE:

      Any scene featuring Artoo in space, in the back of Luke's X-Wing.

           EVENT:

      Artoo's normally blue paneling is black. This is due to a special
      effect known as blue screening, where anything in the shot coloured
      blue, is replaced by something else. In this case, it's the blackness
      of space.

           NOTES:

      This has been corrected in the Special Edition.

 13---==>}]SUBJECT: Amazing What You Find In Space
           SCENE:

      Han rushes up to the cockpit of the Falcon as they begin to enter the
      asteroid field.

           EVENT:

      Special Effects crew at Industrial Light and Magic have often placed
      little "inside jokes" that are too small to be seen in the final cuts.
      In the asteroid belt sequence, one of the asteroids is actually a
      potato. There is no actual confirmation of which one or if it is even
      visible in the final cut but what follows is an educated guess.

      When Chewie and Han come up to the cockpit right after the line, "That
      was no laser blast, something hit us". Han sits down, and then it shows
      out the window of the Falcon and you see asteroids. Two asteroids come
      across the front of the window, from top left to bottom right. It is
      thought that perhaps one of these could be the potato.

 14---==>}]SUBJECT: TIE Pilot Up In Smoke
           SCENE:

      The Falcon first enters the asteroid field, and the first TIE fighter
      gets hit by an asteroid.

           EVENT:

      Supposedly another one of these little jokes the special effects crew
      made was creating a scene where a TIE Fighter pilot is visible in a ball
      of flame after his ship is blown up. In the centre of the explosion you
      can see the pilot, on fire, spinning from the centre of the screen to
      the lower left. It is a lot easier to find this scene in the
      letterboxed versions.

 15---==>}]SUBJECT:       Han the Ventriloquist
           SCENE:

      Han and Leia in the cockpit of the Falcon while they were in the belly
      of the space slug.

           EVENT:

      After a small tremor, Leia falls back into Han's arms. After a brief
      exchange, Leia says, "Captain being held by you is hardly enough to get
      me excited." If you look closely at Han's lips, you'll see that he's
      saying it with her in unison.

 16---==>}]SUBJECT:       Roaming Hands
           SCENE:

      Han and Leia are about to engage in a passionate kiss in an alcove of
      the Falcon.

           EVENT:

      In the moments leading up to the kiss, Leia and Han are holding hands,
      or their hands are at least out of the camera's view, below chest
      level. But when they finally kiss, the camera immediately cuts to
      a further away shot, and now Leia's hands are draped around Han's
      neck.

 17---==>}]SUBJECT:       Threepio's Falling Apart
           SCENE:

      Just as C-3PO walks in on Han and Leia kissing and he taps Han on the
      shoulder.

           EVENT:

      The "hydraulic mechanism" attached to his elbow and upper arm becomes
      detached. If you watch closely, you can see it fall to the floor.
      Then you can clearly see this "mechanism" protruding out of C-3PO's
      upper arm, and it is not attached to his elbow anymore.

 18---==>}]SUBJECT:       Over-Eager Effects
           SCENE:

      The Imperial fleet is bombarding it's way through the asteroid field
      in search of the Falcon.

           EVENT:

      The lead Star Destroyer is shooting down the large asteroids in it's
      way. The first asteroid, however, actually starts to explode one or
      two frames before the laser blast actually hits it.

 19---==>}]SUBJECT:       Bad Pilot Skills
           SCENE:

      Han and company have escaped the space slug and are preparing to
      enter hyperspace.

           EVENT:

      Han informs us that they are going to enter hyperspace. We see the
      shot from the front as Han pulls the lever for the hyperdrive, yet
      nothing happens. The next shot is shown from behind, and Han's hand
      still rests on the lever, which, in this shot, has not been pulled.

           SCENE:

      Captain Needa travels to the Executor to apologize to Darth Vader.

           EVENT:

      Vader chokes Needa with the force, and his lifeless body falls to the
      ground. Two other officers come to dispose of the body. But when
      they pick him up, the supposedly dead Needa appears to "help" the two
      in picking him up.

 21---==>}]SUBJECT:       On Or Off?
           SCENE:

      The Falcon has clamped on to the Star Destroyer, and our heros talk
      over their alternatives in the cockpit.

           EVENT:

      Leia and Han become annoyed with Threepio's chattering, and Leia
      turns him off. However, if you watch him in the background, you can
      see his body move as he breathes.

 22---==>}]SUBJECT:       People in Threepio's Head
           SCENE:

      On Bespin, after C-3PO has been dismembered and his parts are spread on
      the conveyor belt. Cloud City, C-3PO's parts are on the conveyor belt.

           EVENT:

      Chewbacca enters the "junk" room to collect the remains of Threepio,
      and in the close-up scene of Threepio's head on the conveyor belt, you
      can see a reflection of the camera and several of the crew.

 23---==>}]SUBJECT:       Disappearing Ladder
           SCENE:

      Luke is preparing to leave Dagobah against Yoda's wishes, and travel
      to the cloud city of Bespin.

           EVENT:

      During the entire scene, Luke is loading up his spacecraft for the
      trip, and you can see a yellow ladder leading up to the cockpit.
      Luke climbs this ladder to the cockpit. When the camera angle changes,
      the ladder disappears.

 24---==>}]SUBJECT: How Does Lando Do That?
           SCENE:

      After Lando asks if there is a problem with their droid and is
      escorting Han, Leia and Chewie to dinner.

           EVENT:

      Lando and Han switch sides from one shot to the next. In one shot, Han
      is on Leia's right with Lando and her left and in the next shot, as
      they head down the last bit of the corridor to the dining room, Han is
      on Leia's left with Lando on her right. Han stays on the left for the
      remainder of the scene.

 25---==>}]SUBJECT: Don't Forget To Zip Up!
           SCENE:

      Luke tries unsuccessfully to raise his sinking X-Wing from the swamp
      on Dagobah using the force.

           EVENT:

      Yoda scolds our hero and decides to resurrect the ship himself. Luke
      is sulking off under a tree. Notice his jacket is undone, and
      hanging loose. After Yoda brings the fighter back up, Luke stares
      in awe. Notice now, that his jacket is zipped up tight.

 26---==>}]SUBJECT:       Han's Change of Clothes
           SCENES:

      During the scenes when Han is about to be frozen in Carbonite.

           EVENT:

      Before he is lowered into the freezing chamber, he has shackles and
      straps around the upper part of his arms, which holds them to his body.
      The shackles are removed by an Ugnaught, but the strap is not.
      However, in _Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi_, when he is unfrozen,
      he no longer has the strap on his arms.

      Furthermore, in the same scenes, for far away shots, Han is wearing the
      white shirt that he entered the room in. For the close up shots, he is
      wearing his vest.

      Also worth noting is that his shirt is untucked before he is frozen,
      but tucked in when he is thawed.

      And finally, upon close inspection, you will notice that he is
      wearing a double breasted shirt when he is thawed in Jabba's palace,
      but is wearing a tunic style shirt when he is frozen on Bespin.

 27---==>}]SUBJECT:       Vader's Uncoloured Saber
           SCENE:

      Before Vader ignites his saber for the first time in Cloud City.

           EVENT:

      If you watch the seconds before he turns on his lightsaber, you can
      clearly see the actual uncoloured rod of the lightsaber. However, it
      isn't white like in the first film but dark gray which blends in
      against Vader's costume and the dark lighting conditions of the Bespin
      carbon freezing room.

      The best way to see it is to wait until he ignites his saber, then
      rewind the film with your eye on where the lightsaber was and it should
      be quite easy to see.

           NOTES:

      It is worthy to taking note how the rod of the lightsaber is aimed
      almost directly at the camera so that the least possible surface area
      of the rod is shown to the camera. This also helps show the effect of
      the actor tilting the lightsaber away from himself to simulate
      extension.

 28---==>}]SUBJECT:       Lightsaber Pass-Through
           SCENE:

      Luke jumps out of the carbon freeze chamber and grabs hold of the
      cabling above.

           EVENT:

      When Luke jumps back down, he grabs one of the slice cables which is
      spewing vapour, and shoots that into Vader's face. Luke then commands
      his lightsaber to his hand and reengages combat with Vader.

      When Vader says "release your anger, only your hatred can destroy me",
      we cut to a shot from behind Luke, low, and to his left. Luke swings
      his saber at Vader, colliding with Vader's saber. Luke's saber is on
      Luke's left hand side of Vader's.

      We then cut to a shot from over Vader's right shoulder. The lightsabers
      are still locked together, but now Luke's saber is on Luke's right hand
      side of Vader's.

 29---==>}]SUBJECT:       A Helping Hand
           SCENE:

      Just after Luke knocks Vader off the deck in the carbon freezing
      chamber.

           EVENT:

      After Vader falls, Luke walks around a large machine and doesn't shut
      his saber off, you can see him reach back and trade for a hilt with a
      hidden stagehand. You can even see the uncoloured rod swing back out
      into view for a moment. You can see it for a split second between
      Luke's back, and the grappler that pulled out the frozen Han Solo.

 30---==>}]SUBJECT:       Trampolines Aboard Cloud City?
           SCENE:

      When Luke is fighting Vader. After he knocks Vader off the edge, and
      jumps down behind him.

           EVENT:

      If you look and listen closely, you hear him hit a trampoline-like
      device. Then, his head magically reappears at the bottom of the
      screen, for a brief moment.

 31---==>}]SUBJECT:       Well-Trained Troops
           SCENE:

      Chewie takes cover around a corner on the Cloud City while
      stormtroopers fire at him.

           EVENT:

      Two shots come at Chewie during this sequence. The first one hits
      the wall and leaves a black charred hole. A second shot comes
      seconds after and hits the EXACT same spot on the wall. Talk about
      accuracy.

 32---==>}]SUBJECT:       Chewbacca Wearing Boots?
           SCENE:

      Lando, Leia and Chewie have just missed rescuing Han from Boba Fett,
      and are running back to the Millenium Falcon.

           EVENT:

      The gang round a corner, and Leia stops to take a shot at some
      stormtroopers who are pursuing. The rest of them run into a door,
      and if you take notice, you will see the white sole of boots on
      the bottom of Chewie's feet.

 33---==>}]SUBJECT:       Disappearing Troopers
           SCENE:

      Our heros desparately try to intercept Boba Fett's ship at the east
      platform, but are moments too late.

           EVENT:

      On the other side of the door to the platform, two stormtroopers appear
      and begin to fire at our heros. Chewbacca shoots one trooper, who
      falls to the ground. The camera then closes in on Chewie as he fires
      at the remaining trooper. The trooper that he shot just moments before
      no longer is laying on the ground.

 34---==>}]SUBJECT:       Ice Cream Break
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this scene takes place after Lando announces on
      the public address system that the city is under Imperial rule.

           EVENT:

      Chaos breaks out, and people run everywhere. In one of the hallways,
      a man with a light brown tunic runs by. He is carrying an ice cream
      maker from George Lucas' home.

 35---==>}]SUBJECT:       Do It Again Artoo
           SCENE:

      Our heros have made it to the platform where the Falcon is landed.

           EVENT:

      Artoo opens the door to the platform, and rolls out towards the ship.
      We see a few shots of our heros shooting down troopers, and then,
      Artoo spouts out some smoke as a distraction, and rolls out onto the
      platform again.

 36---==>}]SUBJECT:       Disappearing Lightsabers
           SCENE:

      Vader is battling Luke and forcing him out onto the thin catwalk over
      the huge shaft.

           EVENT:

      As the two move out of the room, out the door, watch Vader's lightsaber.
      As it swings, you can see it disappear several times. This is due
      either to the saber going behind the matte painting, or the effects
      crew just forgetting to colour the saber.

 37---==>}]SUBJECT:       Exploding Railing
           SCENE:

      Luke and Vader are duelling on the catwalk above the shaft on Bespin.

           EVENT:

      Vader's ferocious onslaught is forcing Luke backwards. Vader takes a
      very aggressive swing towards our hero and chops through a railing.
      You will notice however some black tape of some sort, most probably a
      pyrotechnic device of some sort, exactly where Vader sliced through,
      causing a lot of sparking.

 38---==>}]SUBJECT:       Insecure Helmet
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this scene occurs on the catwalk after Vader
      says the line "Search your feelings, you know it be true."

           EVENT:

      Look at Vader's helmet. It is moving noticeably in the wind of the
      shaft.

 39---==>}]SUBJECT:       Stealth Lightsaber
           SCENE:

      Luke and Vader are on the catwalk over the air shaft on Bespin, just
      after Vader says ". . . don't make me destroy you." and before the line
      ". . . you do not yet realize your importance . . ."

           EVENT:

      Vader's lightsaber has been ignited up until this point. As the scene
      changes between a shot of Vader from the torso up, to a shot of Luke
      from over Vader's shoulder, Vader's saber has been mysteriously turned
      off. It does not make the characteristic sound of a lightsaber being
      retracted. In fact, you could even hear the hum of his saber until
      the camera angle changes, and then the sound abruptly disappears.

 40---==>}]SUBJECT: I Thought Luke Lost That Hand
           SCENE:

      When Luke is tumbling in the air shaft after leaping away from Darth
      Vader.

           EVENT:

      There is a very short scene just before he gets dropped out the bottom
      of the Cloud City where you can see his right hand, which should have
      been sliced off just moments before by Darth Vader.

 41---==>}]SUBJECT:       City Of Lights
           SCENE:

      Leia senses Luke's trouble, and the Falcon goes back to Bespin to
      rescue him.

           EVENT:

      Leia maneuvers the Falcon underneath Luke, and Lando opens the top
      hatch to pull him in. Remembering it's sunset, AND they are underneath
      the floating city, the light is nearly blinding as the top hatch opens.
      However, it was quite dark during every other external shot of underneath
      the city.

           NOTES:

      This has been fixed in the Special Edition.

 42---==>}]SUBJECT:       Backwards Piett
           SCENE:

      In the scene where Darth Vader asks Piett, "Did your men disable the
      Millennium Falcon's hyperdrive?"

           EVENT:

      Piett's rank insignia switches from the left side to the right side of
      his uniform.

           NOTES:

      After Piett is promoted from Captain to Admiral, his rank insignia is
      upgraded from three red and three blue bars to six bars. However,
      throughout _Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi_, his insignia is three
      red and blue bars, though he is still has the same rank of Admiral.
      Also during this scene you will notice that sometimes the blue rank
      insignia on Piett's chest are sometimes coloured black. This is most
      probably due to the "blue screening" special effect, where everything
      that is one shade of blue is replaced in post production with another
      background. In this case, it is space outside the window, and that is
      what we are seeing. This is visible on several occasions during
      _Star Wars VI: Return Of The Jedi_ as well, on the bridge of the
      Executor.

  43--==>}]SUBJECT:       Juggling Threepio
           SCENE:

      Our heros struggle to fix the Falcon's hyperdrive as fast as possible.

           EVENT:

      Artoo rolls off to fix the hyperdrive, and a one-legged Threepio
      stands in a hallway begging to be fixed. He is holding his severed
      leg by the knee, with the foot closest to the floor. When the
      camera cuts back to him several shots later, he is holding it by
      the foot, with the knee closest to the ground.

  1---==>}]SUBJECT:       Unsanitary Employee
           SCENE:

      Vader's shuttle leaves the Star Destroyer and is en route to the
      Death Star.

           EVENT:

      The pilots of the shuttle contact the Death Star crew who check the
      credentials of the shuttle. Notice all of the crew in the control
      room are wearing black gloves. When the shuttle's identification
      checks out, we see a close up of a computer terminal. A hand reaches
      in and presses a button lowering the shields, and this hand is not
      wearing gloves at all.

  2---==>}]SUBJECT:       Rapid Construction
           SCENE:

      Darth Vader's shuttle is about to dock inside the Death Star.

           EVENT:

      As we watch the shuttle land, on the shuttle's left hand side, you can
      see a large tower of what appears to be scaffolding. It reaches quite
      high. However, when we later cut to more close-up shots of the shuttle,
      that structure is no longer there.

  3---==>}]SUBJECT:       Deja Vu
           SCENE:

      When the droids first enter Jabba's throne room.

           EVENT:

      You hear many alien voices in the background. One of them is Greedo's
      voice speaking the EXACT same dialogue he said to Han in _Star Wars IV:
      A New Hope_.

  4---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Moving Artoo
           SCENE:

      The droids have just been given permission to enter Jabba's throne room.

           EVENT:

      When we finally see the droids round the corner to enter the throne room,
      Threepio accidentally kicks an alien, and upsets it. Artoo then follows
      and stops, unsure of how to traverse the steps down to the main floor.

      The camera pans to the left, and as soon as Artoo is out of site, a
      three legged Artoo rolls out from the right, now on the main floor.

      Then, when the camera instantly cuts from this rear shot of the droids,
      to a shot of their fronts, Artoo no longer has his third leg deployed.

  5---==>}]SUBJECT:       Confusing Message
           SCENE:

      Artoo begins to play the holographic message from Luke to Jabba.

           EVENT:

      Look at the full body shot of the holographic Luke. Luke, who
      normally has his lightsaber clipped to his left hip, now has it hung
      from his right hip. As well, his hair, which normally has a part on
      his left hand side, is now parted on the right.

      Afterwards, just before Artoo turns the message off, we get a shot
      from behind Artoo, and Luke's hologram is visible on the extreme
      right of the screen. Luke's lightsaber is now hanging from his
      left hip where it normally is.

           NOTES:

      This is a result of film being flipped in post production.

  6---==>}]SUBJECT:       Jabba in Rewind
           SCENE:

      Just after Artoo plays Luke's hologram to the palace.

           EVENT:

      In one of these early scenes, the film is actually running backwards.
      If you look closely, you can see the smoke from his pipe moving
      downwards and back into the pipe. The bubbles in his bong are also
      moving downwards.

  7---==>}]SUBJECT:       Universal Translator
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this happens any time that Jabba speaks.

           EVENT:

      During filming of the Jabba scenes, they were acted out in english.
      Later, Jabba's english lines were taken out, and substituted with
      his Hutteese language. But if you read the english subtitles and
      watch Jabba's lips, he is actually mouthing the english equivelant
      of the alien lines he's speaking.

  8---==>}]SUBJECT:       Jabba's Stripper
           SCENE:

      During the scene where Oola (Jabba's dancing girl) is trying to escape
      from Jabba.

           EVENT:

      Oola accidentally "falls out of her costume" during a medium close up
      of her. Her breast can be seen for a second or two.

           NOTE:

      The close up scene has been deleted from the VHS Letterboxed version,
      but a shot from further away is still in this version of the movie.

  9---==>}]SUBJECT:       Boba's Reversible Costume
           SCENE:

      In Jabba's palace when Boushh (Leia) threatens the court with the
      thermal detonator.

           EVENT:

      As Boba Fett nods to Boushh his costume is reversed due to the negative
      being flipped. The easiest part of his costume to see this on is his
      antenna, which is on the left-hand side of his head, whereas normally
      it would be on his right.

 10---==>}]SUBJECT:       Lando's Concussion
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this scene is just after Chewie is taken away by
      guards in Jabba's Palace, and we get our first view of Lando in his
      skiff outfit.

           EVENT:

      As Lando walks into the shot, he bumps his head on the ceiling just
      before he pulls his mask down the show the audience who he is. He hits
      his head hard enough that the mask cranks backwards for a second.

 11---==>}]SUBJECT:       Dry Cleaning
           SCENE:

      When Leia in disguise releases the frozen Han Solo.

           EVENT:

      When Han is released, he falls on the floor and gets the front of his
      white shirt all dirty and muddy. Later, when he is brought before
      Jabba, his shirt is clean again.

 12---==>}]SUBJECT:       Chewie's Moving Bandolier
           SCENE:

      When Leia looks out the window on Jabba's sail barge at Chewie, Han and
      Luke.

           EVENT:

      Chewie's bandolier is hanging from his RIGHT shoulder to his LEFT hip.
      In the next shot when Han says, "3PO, you tell that slimy piece . . . "
      Notice that Chewie's bandolier is hanging from his LEFT shoulder to his
      RIGHT hip. Also, when the scene shifts back inside the sail barge, a
      birthmark on Leia's back, normally on her right, is seen on her left.

           NOTES:

      This is due to the film being flipped in post production.

 13---==>}]SUBJECT:       Lando's Vanishing Trick
           SCENE:

      Right before Luke is to be pushed into the Sarlacc pit.

           EVENT:

      Luke nods at Lando to his RIGHT. The camera goes to other shots and
      when the shot comes back to the skiff guard prodding Luke to jump, and
      after Jabba says "Put him in", there is a quick shot where Lando is in
      the background on Luke's LEFT side. The next shot shows Luke jumping
      into the pit with Han and Chewie in the same position Lando was in
      during the previous shot.

 14---==>}]SUBJECT:       Speedy Hands
           SCENE:

      Luke has been ordered into the Sarlacc Pit.

           EVENT:

      Luke gives off his subtle goodbyes and jumps off of the plank. In one
      angle, Luke jumps, twists, and just before he grabs the plank, he has
      one hand way above his head, and only one hand positioned to grab the
      plank. When the camera instantly cuts to a different angle, Luke has
      grabbed the plank with both hands.

 15---==>}]SUBJECT:       Han Has Been Cured
           SCENE:

      Luke is jumping off the plank into the Sarlacc.

           EVENT:

      After Luke grabs the plank and jumps back up onto the skiff, he flips
      in the air, and then grabs his lightsaber, which Artoo has shot over
      to him. Watch Han in the background. He is supposed to be blind, but
      he follows the action quite closely.

 16---==>}]SUBJECT:       Exploding Gun
           SCENE:

      During the battle on the skiffs over the Sarlacc pit just after Boba
      Fett rockets himself into the fight.

           EVENT:

      Luke swings at the bounty hunter with his lightsaber and chops Fett's
      gun in two. But if you watch it in slow motion, Boba Fett's gun
      begins to explode one frame before Luke actually slices it.

 17---==>}]SUBJECT:       Lando's A Vampire
           SCENE:

      Luke is trying to avoid the laser fire from a second skiff.

           EVENT:

      Luke takes a running leap from the skiff that he was brough out to
      the Sarlacc on, and jumps over to a second one. When the camera cuts
      to a wide shot of Luke jumping, look at the skiff on the right. You
      can see a matte painting of Lando hanging on underneath it. Although
      the skiff and everything else in this shot casts a shadow onto the
      sand, Lando's body does not.

 18---==>}]SUBJECT:       Phantom Kick
           SCENE:

      Boba Fett is hit by Han Solo and his rocket pack misfires sending Boba
      Fett flying into the sky.

           EVENT:

      As we follow Fett's flight, we cut to a scene showing the front half
      of a skiff. Luke then kicks one of Jabba's henchman. He very clearly
      misses the man by a few inches, yet the man still tumbles to his doom
      none the less.

 19---==>}]SUBJECT:       Lando's Gloved Hand
           SCENE:

      When Lando is hanging onto the skiff to keep from falling into the
      Sarlacc pit.

           EVENT:

      On all of the close up shots, Lando does not have gloves on, but in the
      far shots, he has black gloves on.

 20---==>}]SUBJECT:       Hanging Han
           SCENE:

      When Luke, Han, etc. were to be thrown into the Sarlaac Pit on
      Tatooine, Han and Lando are standing on the levitating platform and
      one of Jabba's men fires a shot, hitting the vehicle, causing it to
      tilt at a precarious angle.

           EVENT:

      As everybody scrambles to balance themselves, you see Han grab the edge
      of the ship with his hands, and is hanging over the edge. But, a few
      seconds later, they show him hanging by his feet! If you watch
      carefully, when he goes out of view, you can see his shadow, and he
      begins to pull himself up, and flip around to hang by his feet!
      And maybe it's the author's imagination, but right afterwards when
      Chewie grabs Han's feet, it appears to take him several seconds in which
      there is nothing at all preventing Han from falling.

 21---==>}]SUBJECT:       Lando's Spear Trick
           SCENE:

      When Han is trying to rescue Lando from the grasp of the Sarlacc.

           EVENT:

      You should notice that when Lando finally grabs hold of the spear that
      Han offers him, he does so with his left hand. As soon as Han shoots
      the tentacle, Lando is no longer holding on to the spear. We then
      instantly cut to another angle where he is clutching the spear once
      again.

 22---==>}]SUBJECT:       Luke's Bum Hand
           SCENE:

      During the battle on the sail barge.

           EVENT:

      Luke is on the deck and his hand gets shot. His hand then appears
      charred and scarred, and if you pause the picture for the frames just
      before he's hit, you will see that his hand is already burned. The
      next time we see his hand is when he is running to get the fallen rope
      so that he and Leia could swing to safety. During this shot, Luke's
      damaged hand looks perfectly fine. About a second later, when he
      actually grabs the rope, we see a damaged hand again. And when the
      pair actually swings across, his hand is fine again. Finally we see
      that his hand looks really bad when he is leaving Tatooine in his
      X-Wing.

 23---==>}]SUBJECT:       Pulling the Droid
           SCENE:

      After Artoo rescues Threepio from Salacious Crumb.

           EVENT:

      Threepio says the line "Well, I can't possibly . . ." and then Artoo
      pushes Threepio off of the edge. If you look closely, you can see
      several wires actually pulling Threepio off of the skiff.

 24---==>}]SUBJECT:       Concealing Make-Up
           SCENE:

      Luke orders Leia to point the giant laser canon at the deck of the
      sail barge.

           EVENT:

      Leia runs from the right of the screen to the left, and turns her
      back to us. As she does so, notice her right lower back. She has
      a very noticeable brown birthmark there.

      Later on, when Luke and Leia swing from the sail barge to the
      waiting skiff, you can tell this is a stunt double, as the
      birthmark is no longer there.

 25---==>}]SUBJECT:       Luke's Ventriloquist Talents
           SCENE:

      Luke and Leia are about to swing to the skiff.

           EVENT:

      You can hear Luke yell "Come on," to Leia, and yet his lips do not
      move at all. Luke only gestures.

 26---==>}]SUBJECT:       Hold On
           SCENE:

      Luke and Leia swing away from the soon to be destroyed Sail Barge.

           EVENT:

      Leia grabs hold of her brother as they swing to safety. In the first
      set of angles she has her right arm resting on Luke's chest, and her
      left arm around Luke's back. But as they swing, her arms have magically
      changed positions. Her right arm is now clutching the rope, and her
      left arm is now around Luke's neck.

 27---==>}]SUBJECT:       Impossible Swing
           SCENE:

      Luke and Leia swing away from the soon to be destroyed Sail Barge.

           EVENT:

      The swing that they take is physically impossible as there is no focal
      point for the rope to be attached to. You can tell by the angles from
      when they leave, and when they land, that the rope is attached to a
      point somewhere between the skiff and the sail barge. Only there is
      nothing there for it to be attached to.

 28---==>}]SUBJECT:       Disappearing TIE Fighters
           SCENE:

      Just before the Emperor's shuttle lands on the Death Star, and the
      Imperial fleet is flying in formation outside the docking bay.

           EVENT:

      A stream of TIE fighters are circling the Death Star in a parade
      formation. In the first few seconds of this scene, two TIE fighter
      squadrons fly out from behind the camera towards the main group. Watch
      the first squadron. Just before it joins up with the main group, and
      just a moment before the scene ends, the squadron disappears from the
      picture.

 29---==>}]SUBJECT: Big Step For The Empire
           SCENE:

      The Emperor has landed on the Death Star and he speaks with Vader as
      they walk past the legions of troops.

           EVENT:

      At the very end of their conversation, we are tight on the Emperor.
      He is walking past a series of grey suited officers. But when we
      instantly cut to a wide angle shot, they are now in front of rows of
      stormtroopers.

 30---==>}]SUBJECT:       Bad Briefing
           SCENE:

      During Mon Mothma's briefing regarding the Death Star in orbit of the
      moon of Endor.

           EVENT:

      The lights darken and a hologram of the moon and the Death Star erupt
      in the middle of the room. When the hologram begins, the Death Star
      orbits the moon of Endor in a counter-clockwise motion. During all
      subsequent shots of the hologram, the Death Star orbits in a
      clockwise direction.

 31---==>}]SUBJECT:       Lando's Moving Gun Belt
           SCENE:

      When Han and Lando are talking in the rebel hanger right before the
      strike team departs in the stolen Imperial shuttle.

           EVENT:

      Lando's gun belt across his chest changes sides during his conversation
      with Han during the different shots making up this scene.

 32---==>}]SUBJECT:       Fly Casual, Not Crazy
           SCENE:

      Our heros wait nervously in the stolen shuttle to see if their code
      passes to get past the Death Star's shields.

           EVENT:

      Take note of the position of the shuttle and the Star Destroyer's
      bridge. The shots are very inconsistent in showing the position of the
      shuttle in relation to the bridge.

 33---==>}]SUBJECT:       Too Quick Hot Shot
           SCENE:

      The rebels have just landed on Endor and Han tries to take out the
      biker scouts.

           EVENT:

      Han attempts to sneak up behind a trooper but steps on a twig alerting
      him to Solo's presence. The scout quickly turns and swats Han in the
      face. If you watch closely or watch frame by frame, you'll notice that
      Han actually begins to recoil from the hit, before the scout even
      touches him.

 34---==>}]SUBJECT:       Waiting For Han
           SCENE:

      Han's failed attempt to ambush the Imperials results in a fight.

           EVENT:

      Two troopers leave on speeder bikes, and Luke and Leia follow. The
      camera comes back on Han. Notice in the very bottom right of the
      screen and you can see the trooper Han has been fighting with, and
      he is standing and waiting for his cue to re-enter the fight.

 35---==>}]SUBJECT:       See-Through Speeders
           SCENE:

      Leia and Luke are chasing the fleeing imperial troops on speeder bikes.

           EVENT:

      You can actually see through the speeder bikes and their pilots, and
      see the forest scene behind them. This is very similar to the snow
      speeder bloopers from _Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back_.

      This is best seen during the scene where Luke jumps from Leia's
      speeder to an Imperial speeder. It is also quite noticeable during the
      shots leading up to that when we have a high rear view of the back of
      the speeder bikes.

 36---==>}]SUBJECT: Luke's Confused About His Hand
           SCENE:

      During the Speeder Bike chase right before Luke jumps off his speeder
      that is about to crash.

           EVENT:

      In three shots, Luke's glove (covering his robotic hand) is on his
      right hand. In the next shot it is on his left, and back to his right
      again in the third shot.

 37---==>}]SUBJECT:       Magic Spear
           SCENE:

      Leia is laying on the ground unconscious and Wicket the Ewok has just
      discovered her.

           EVENT:

      As Wicket approaches Leia, watch his spear. In the shots from in
      front of the Ewok, his spear is visibly in front of the hood over his
      face. When the camera angle changes to a shot from over his shoulder,
      his spear is underneath the hood.

 38---==>}]SUBJECT:       Fast Food
           SCENE:

      Princess Leia and Wicket are getting to know each other on the log.

           EVENT:

      Leia asks Wicket if he wants some food. She holds it out to him in
      her left hand. However, in the next shot, the food has switched
      hands, and is now in her right.

 39---==>}]SUBJECT:       Leia's Deja Vu
           SCENE:

      During the initial encounter with Wicket the Ewok and Leia after she
      regains consciousness from her fall off of the speeder bike.

           EVENT:

      Leia sits down on a log and takes her helmet off. We cut to another
      angle that clearly shows it removed from her head. We then cut back
      to a closer shot, and she's taking it off again.

           NOTES:

      This blooper is best viewed on the letterboxed editions as you see the
      helmet off of her head only on the extreme left of the screen.

 40---==>}]SUBJECT:       Self Destruct
           SCENE:

      Imperial troops have discovered Leia and Wicket slashes his foot.

           EVENT:

      A second trooper boards his speeder and tries to escape. Leia shoots
      his speeder and it crashes into a parked speeder. If you watch this
      sequence in slow motion, the speeder it crashes into explodes a few
      frames before it is actually hit.

 41---==>}]SUBJECT:       Artoo's Early Escape
           SCENES:

      During the scenes around the capture of Luke and his entourage.

           EVENT:

      Luke tells Threepio to tell the Ewoks that if our heros are not set
      free, that he will use his magic. If you look on the right of the
      screen, Artoo is standing untied, even though at that point in the
      movie he had not been untied yet.

 42---==>}]SUBJECT:       Chewie's Escape
           SCENE:

      Threepio has been levitated by Luke in an attempt to free our heros.

           EVENT:

      As Threepio is frantically screaming as Luke makes him float over
      the heads of the Ewoks, listen for Threepio to say "Artoo . . .
      Quickly!!" Look at the extreme far left of the screen, and for a
      split second, you can see Chewbacca poke his head out. This is
      before Chewbacca had been released.

           NOTES:

      This can only be seen in the widescreen version.

 43---==>}]SUBJECT: Vader Should Have Hit His Head
           SCENE:

      When Vader is leaving the Imperial Shuttle Craft, on the landing pad on
      Endor.

           EVENT:

      While walking down the ramp, his head somehow manages to go through the
      front of the Shuttle Craft, unscathed.

 44---==>}]SUBJECT:       Mood Swing
           SCENE:

      The rebels are outside of the Imperial bunker deciding what their next
      move will be.

           EVENT:

      Han says "You stay here, we'll take care of this." Leia turns and she
      will be displaying a very large smile, even showing teeth. When the
      camera instantly cuts to a different angle of the scene, Leia is no
      longer smiling, displaying a deadpan look.

 45---==>}]SUBJECT:       Invisible Jedi
           SCENE:

      Vader takes a bound Luke to see his Emperor.

           EVENT:

      Luke and Vader exit the elevator and begin to walk towards the Emperor.
      We watch them walk towards the steps from behind. As Luke gets closer
      to the steps, you can see right through his black tunic and see the
      steps and the blue light behind them.

 46---==>}]SUBJECT:       The Emperor's Slugs
           SCENE:

      Most scenes with the Emperor.

           EVENT:

      The "slugs" to which I am referring to are dark areas in the picture
      that just don't look quite right. They are a result of poor colour or
      picture in a certain area, and the optical effects crew would have to
      actually draw in the right colour overtop of the picture to make it look
      better.

      These "slugs" can be found twice in this movie. The first is with
      Artoo Deetoo on Tatooine during the opening scenes of the movie, the
      second is with the Emperor onboard the Death Star. Since the Emperor's
      slugs are easier to find and explain I'll deal with them first.

      These can be seen is a few scenes, however the most prominent is when
      Luke is watching the Rebel fleet being led into a trap. During this
      time, small black spots are seen on the Emperors head, primarily on the
      left side. These are known as the "Emperor's slugs", due to their
      slug-like appearance.

      What follows is only speculation as to their existence.

      You will notice that the Emperor's eyes are lit by a soft sickly-green
      spotlight in that scene. The problem with normal spots, is that when
      you try to get them that tight, there is always a little spillover,
      which gets even worse if the subject is moving. Probably, the green
      light was lighting things that should not have been lit, like the back
      of the hood, or a part of him that had not been made up (ears or hair,
      perhaps). The optics crew then manually blacked out the "overflowing"
      area's.

      Artoo's slugs can be found on his main photoreceptor "eye" during the
      opening shots of the movie. It is believed that you could see through
      the eye and see the actor inside much like you could during the
      sandcrawler scene in _Star Wars IV: A New Hope_. If you look closely,
      you'll see that during some angles and shots it is coloured a colour
      that just doesn't look quite right and resembles the slugs found on the
      Emperor later on in the movie.

 47---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Reflexes
           SCENE:

      The rebel crew storm the shiel bunker on Endor and engage in combat
      with the imperials inside.

           EVENT:

      An imperial in black appears from the right of the screen in front of
      the ledge with the railing. Han throws the container in his hands at
      the imperial. If you notice, the imperial actually begins to jump
      over the railing before the box even hits him.

 48---==>}]SUBJECT:       Magically Appearing TIEs
           SCENE:

      The space battle over Endor is just beginning, and the rebels
      advance towards the Death Star

           EVENT:

      We see the view out of the Millenium Falcon as they approach the
      Imperial Fleet. If you pause the film and watch the advance of the
      TIE fighters frame by frame, take note of the area in the centre of
      your screen, about a third of the way up. Moments into the scene,
      four TIE fighters appear out of nowhere.

 49---==>}]SUBJECT:       More Disappearing TIE Fighters
           SCENE:

      Right after the rebels arrive at the Death Star, and figure out that
      the shields are still up. Admiral Ackbar says "It's a Trap!" followed
      by Lando saying, "Enemy fighters coming in."

           EVENT:

      As the Millennium Falcon flies directly at the screen, and leaves the
      screen (upper right), pause the picture. You will see two little white
      "H" shapes on the Falcon's underside, where space was reserved for two
      TIE fighters. The two TIEs are in the picture until the Falcon flies
      "over top of them." Then you can see the white places reserved for the
      fighters, and then as the Falcon leaves the shot, all trace of the
      fighters is gone.

           NOTES:

      If you don't notice it at first, rewind the shot watching the area
      where the TIE shapes are. The TIEs are in the deep background of the
      scene and are pretty much motionless. The fact that they appear on
      the FX element of the Falcon is a result of a forgotten black
      "blocking" matte in the optical printing stage.

      What had happened was that the Falcon had been exposed into an area of
      the film where the TIE's had already been exposed (or vice-versa)
      resulting in an overexposure in the shape of the TIE elements. This is
      why the area on the Falcon's belly is WHITE. If the area had been left
      for two fighters to be matted in, the "H" shapes would have appeared
      BLACK.

 50---==>}]SUBJECT:       Space Walk
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, the exact scene (if any) is known, but somewhere
      in the space battle above Endor.

           EVENT:

      There have been several reports saying that during the long and tedious
      shooting of the tremendously complex space battles that to help
      "relieve the tension", that special effects persons put a tennis shoe
      in the rebel fleet. No one seems to have found the shoe in any of the
      scenes of the movie, and it's very possible that the scene with the
      shoe may have been cut and never saw the silver screen.

 51---==>}]SUBJECT:       Rebel In Disguise
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this scene is when the rebels are planting
      charges in the bunker but get interrupted by the Imperials.

           EVENT:

      The rebels are escorted outside and we get a wide sweeping shot of the
      captured rebels in the forest, from left to right. You can see a
      circle of Stormtroopers around another stormtrooper with his helmet
      off. This person is a rebel in disguise.

 52---==>}]SUBJECT:       Blaster Misfire
           SCENE:

      The ground battle on Endor has just begun and Leia runs to the bunker
      as the doors close.

           EVENT:

      Watch carefully because just after Leia enters the screen on the right
      hand side, she fires a shot. It smokes, but there is no colour nor
      sound from the weapon.

 53---==>}]SUBJECT:       Then Kill The Emperor
           SCENE:

      The Emperor is taunting Luke and Luke calls his lightsaber to his hand.

           EVENT:

      Luke turns on his lightsaber and takes a swing at the Emperor. Vader
      ignites his saber and blocks the swing. However, when the camera cuts
      to a shot of the two lightsaber blades crossed in front of the
      Emperor, you will see that Luke's green lightsaber blade is behind
      Vader's. Therefore, it is closer to the Emperor and he should have
      been able to strike him down.

 54---==>}]SUBJECT:       Rapid Construction
           SCENE:

      Chewbacca and two Ewoks swing onto a two legged AT-ST walker.

           EVENT:

      In _Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi_, there is a scene where Chewie
      climbs on an AT-ST and tosses out the occupants. One of these men is
      really the (late) Richard Marquand, the film's director, and the other
      is another notable, but his identity has not been verified as of this
      date.

 55---==>}]SUBJECT:       Grabby Han
           SCENE:

      Although not a blooper, this scene is when Leia gets shot outside the
      Imperial bunker.

           EVENT:

      Leia leans back, and Han rushes over to see if she's alright. While
      pushing her out of the line of fire, his right hand grabs Leia's left
      breast.

 56---==>}]SUBJECT:       Fashion Fix
           SCENE:

      During the lightsaber battle after Leia gets shot.

           EVENT:

      Luke and Vader are in the heat of battle. You will notice that Vader's
      cape is draped behind his left shoulder. However, in the very next
      shot Vader's cape is now back OVER his shoulder and not behind it.

 57---==>}]SUBJECT:       Vader's Saber Casts a Shadow
           SCENE:

      During Luke and Vader's lightsaber battle in the Emperor's Throne Room
      on board the Death Star.

           EVENT:

      You can see a shadow of Vader's lightsaber on the floor, just after
      Luke knocks Vader down the stairs in front of the Emperor, and Vader
      gets up.

 58---==>}]SUBJECT:       More Saber Shadows
           SCENE:

      Just after Vader says "You are unwise to lower your defences."

           EVENT:

      Vader strikes at Luke and you can notice the shadow of a lightsaber
      on the stairs leading to the Emperor's chair.

 59---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Saber
           SCENE:

      Luke does a backflip to avoid Vader and jumps into the centre of a
      ring of computer terminals.

           EVENT:

      Vader walks towards Luke and puts his saber in the gap between two
      computer terminals. The camera cuts to another angle behind Vader,
      and his lightsaber is no longer visible anywhere near the terminals.

 60---==>}]SUBJECT:       Watch the Hair
           SCENE:

      In the Emperor's Throne Room during the duel between Luke and Vader,
      there is a scene where Luke does a somersault jump to a floor above
      where he originally was.

           EVENT:

      If you look at the hair of Luke jumping, you will notice that the stunt
      double's hair is much more blonde than Mark Hamill's.

 61---==>}]SUBJECT:       Wacky Lightsaber
           SCENE:

      Luke has jumped up to a catwalk to avoid Vader.

           EVENT:

      Vader says "then you will meet your destiny," and tosses his lightsaber
      up at Luke. Watch the toss in slow motion and as the lightsaber
      crosses in front of Luke, you can see that the lightsaber blade is
      actually coming out of the "handle" end of the lightsaber hilt.

 62---==>}]SUBJECT:       Quick Reflexes
           SCENE:

      The Imperials are fooled into leaving the bunker and they joyfully run
      out into the clearing.

           EVENT:

      Han is leaning against the right wall of the bunker. After all the
      Imperials have exited the building, Han runs behind them into the
      centre of the screen. At the end of this wide shot, Han glances to our
      left. The camera immediately cuts to a close up of Han who is now
      facing forward again.

 63---==>}]SUBJECT: Where Did Vader Get Luke's Lightsaber?
           SCENE:

      On the Death Star when Luke is hiding from Vader, and Vader is walking
      through the shadows trying to draw Luke out.

           EVENT:

      During the scene in which Vader says "If YOU will not turn to the dark
      side, then perhaps she will," he is holding Luke's lightsaber in his
      left hand.

 64---==>}]SUBJECT:       Even More Saber Shadows
           SCENE:

      Luke and Vader are ferociously battling and Luke is forcing Vader
      backwards.

           EVENT:

      The battle is first seen behind a flight of stairs and in front of a
      circular window. We then cut to an angle in which we look down upon the
      battle. The sabers once again cast quite noticeable shadows on the
      floor. This is scene right before Luke cuts Vader's hand off.

 65---==>}]SUBJECT:       Blast Protection
           SCENE:

      As the bunker on Endor is about to explode from the charges the rebels
      have set.

           EVENT:

      As everyone is running away from the bunker, Han calls out "Move!
      Move!". As he runs away from the building, the second time he calls
      out "MOVE!", you can see Han's reflection behind him running in
      opposite direction.

           NOTES:

      This is because there is a sheet of plexiglass between Han and the
      explosion used to protect the actors in case of an accident.

 66---==>}]SUBJECT:       Cleaning Service
           SCENE:

      The Emperor is shocking Luke with electricity from his fingertips.

           EVENT:

      Vader watches the action unfold from his position beside the Emperor.
      During different camera shots of Vader, his helmet is sometimes shown
      cleaner than other times.

 67---==>}]SUBJECT:       Elongated Arm
           SCENE:

      Vader has just saved his son by tosses the Emperor into the reactor
      shaft.

           EVENT:

      Vader tosses the Emperor and then collapses on some barrels next to the
      railing. Look at Vader's arm - the one with the severed hand. His arm
      is bent at the forearm in a way that arms just don't bend. This is
      because the actor's hand was inside an "elongated" arm to simulate it
      being chopped off. The actor was unable to keep his wrist straight,
      thus giving the appearance of a bent forearm.

 68---==>}]SUBJECT:       Vader Changed Helmets
           SCENE:

      Luke drags Vader's dying body to the ramp of a shuttle and Vader
      insists that his helmet be taken off.

           EVENT:

      When Luke removes the top of the helmet and the "face" portion of the
      helmet, the mouthpiece area is still there. When Luke lowers his head
      in memory of his father's passing, Anakin's head is visible in the
      foreground on the extreme left of the screen, but this time, the
      mouthpiece that was there before is now gone.

                                    HELP
                                 ---====---

The following are bloopers that I have yet to verify the EXACT scene and
location. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

-----==>}]SUBJECT:       Endor National Park
          SCENE: _Star Wars VI: Return Of The Jedi_

     Right after the Rebels have exited the shuttle Tyderium.

          EVENT:

     You can see a redwood fence in the background that made it into the
     shot from the on location shoot in a California National Park.

-----==>}]SUBJECT:       Smiley Faced Stormtrooper
          SCENE: _Star Wars VI: Return Of The Jedi_

     Perhaps during the Emperor's arrival on the Death Star.

          EVENT:

     There is a stormtrooper with a smiley face painted on his helmet.
