Digger is a 1994 film starring Joshua Jackson, Adam Hann-Byrd, Olympia Dukakis, and Leslie Nielson. Digger is sent to an island from his home in Vancouver to stay with his Aunt Anna and Uncle Sam while his parents 'work things out'. Here he meets Billy. The two become best friends for the summer. The two boys have an unusual friendship stemming from both of their situations. Together they deal with the many characteristics of life: love and death... |

In Digger Joshua Jackson plays Billy, a teenager who is in remission from leukemia (blood cancer), though due to the medication from that, he has a weak heart and cannot do what most boys can. He does have other special characteristics. He can "talk" to the trees, summon owls and the rain, and falls in love with the girl next door. He is a very complex and interesting character and Josh did an excellent job in his portrayl! |

Digger is a movie unlike most other movies. Where is lacks in plot, it gains in emotion. This film contains a unique cast of characters, at least one of whom everyone can relate. The real story is hard to pin down but the movie is entertaining anyway (especially for the die hard Josh fan). Most of the acting is well done, especially Joshua Jackson's. One problem with the movie is all of the references to Captin Nemo and Caprain Harding-- you can get confused so be sure to pay attention in the beginning! All in all it was a pretty good flick. |
