Mike Damus is the son of a heart surgeon and an epidemiologist and the brother of an ocean engineer. So it's natural that the guy would choose a career as an actor right? Actually, the boy from Queens was no slacker in the fields of math and science. He picked up prizes twice at the New York City Science Fair by illustrating the aerodynamics of a Nerf football — and we all know how difficult that can be. The boy-genius also won scientific nods by inventing an alcohol-detecting device that prevents a potential drunk driver from starting his car.

But alas, comedy won out over the sciences and at the age of 12, Damus headed to the Theatrical Learning Center. After achieving some success in school plays and local theater he landed the understudy role of Arty in Neil Simon's hit "Lost In Yonkers." A few months later, he scored the same role in the film version.

Damus met his future "Brutally Normal" castmate, Eddie Kaye Thomas during his sophomore year in high school at the Professional Children's School.

When Damus won the role of the mischievous angel, Marty DePolo, in ABC's now defunct sitcom "Teen Angel," he left the East Coast behind and headed to Hollywood. While on the West Coast, Damus enrolled at UCLA where he is currently pursuing a degree in history. Not only does Damus maintain a crazy work schedule but he hits the books pretty hard and plans to graduate from UCLA in 2001.

Now a college junior, Damus says he really enjoys the laid-back California lifestyle and spends his free time camping, studying astronomy, script writing and indulging his eclectic tastes in art, music and film.
