General Art

Here's a sampling of various drawings done, mostly within the past year during drawing class. They're sorted by medium, sort of. As for date, they're not sorted by that at all! Enjoy, and check back to see what's been added soon!

Conte Crayon

I got a little bored drawing the model the same way every time. So I made her a bit more... colorful.

An experiment with color and contes... Turned out fairly nice for a first attempt.

The same model again, this time rendered in a more elfin-style.
A colorful conte version of Gabriel... Once I finally learned to draw him, I started doing a lot of him...

An early concept of Esa... She no longer looks like this. Wonder why? ;D

A color test of Omenia, a creature from the same world as Gabriel and Esa... Yep, I was into these things that night.

Just a test... I think he failed.

Just a head done using minimal values. Another experiment.

Prae, a possible character in an upcoming story. One of a set of drawings of her from a single night.

Another drawing of Prae, this time on different paper. And yes, its the same pose. They're all the same pose. <g>

Kinda a full-body thing with Prae...

Random classmate... Part of a drawing of four random classmates. :)

A second head from the same drawing.

The last two heads from the drawing, which were too close together to separate without the files looking very weird...

A ballerina. Well, her head, anyway. Another experiment.

Esa, Gabriel, and Macavity. Not that great, but I didn't put much time into it. And I like how Gabriel's face looks, hence the next drawing:

Detail of Gabriel from the above drawing.

Another ballerina head.

Surprise! Another ballerina.

Detail of Esa from a really large drawing based on cc_016_fall_gmesms.jpg--the whole drawing's way too big to scan.

Detail of Gabriel from the same drawing. Took me three sittings to do this. Probably wouldn't have taken so long, but I had other things to do that night....

The same drawing strikes again! This is a larger detail of Gabriel... as much of him as I could fit on a standard scanner bed, in fact.

A rather old one titled "Zinnias on the Moon," because it depicts Zinnias... on the moon.... (Betcha saw that coming.)

Charcoal

Interesting technique used here... I was working on a larger drawing, and had a paper stump loaded with charcoal... I drew this with that stump.

Just a model lying down.

A little charcoal drawing from the Music of the Night scene in Phantom of the Opera... I chopped Christine out 'cuz she didn't turn out well...

The first ever decent drawing of Gabriel! I was so glad to be able to draw him after all this time! So, since I could finally do him right, I did another...

Here's said "another..." the first drawing of Gabriel that even looks like Gabriel!

Pencil Drawings and Sketches
A quick exercize in both values and extreme cropping--it's just an arm and a shirt. <g> I rather like how it turned out, though.
An unfinished sketch of the model's head--I think for being incomplete it looks fairly good...
Still life of some stuff on the drawing desk: A drink cup, pencil, paintbrush, eraser, and box of lead. Yep, these really are things I typically use in class... well, not the brush.
Things I carry around... ;) Specifically a Zip disk, 2 regular disks, 2 cases, 1 hairthing, and a book on Celtic design. :)
Weird still life of a hairbrush with a "scrunchie" around it.
A second drawing of the still life with disks and such. Now you can actually tell the bottom item is a book! (And the farthest bottom is a library book.)
Still life of three paintbrushes standing up. Was easy to make them stand, just jammed them in my eraser. <g>
One brush standing up now.
Four brushes laying on the desk.
A somewhat bad conceptual drawing of Prae, a character in a story I'm working on. This one was done first, and the conte drawings done from it.
A rather recent drawing; Gabriel casting a spell. Remarkably, the prof actually liked this one! (He only seems to like the weird stuff...)
Central Courtyard, a landscape-type sketch of part of the campus.
The artist in the Central Courtyard drawing--another of the people in the class that semester.
The flag in the Central Courtyard drawing--I just liked how the flag turned out. <g>
I doodled a cat's eye like this in some notes, and it looked so cool I just had to do a real drawing of it!
Very early, and not that great. Just one of the models, sitting. Nothing special.

ClarisWorks... a.k.a. Bad Computer Images
A fantasy creature of my own creation--please no stealing or copying or anysuchthing. :)
"Illusion Poles"--some fun things to look at, but not exactly the greatest of artistic accomplishments.

Paintings
More fantasy creatures of my own creation that are not here for you to steal. <g> This is a tiny excerpt from a very large mural. How large? Well, this section is about 6" long by 3" high, give or take. The entire mural is about 8' long and 4' high.
Value study from drawing class, it's based on a pen-and-ink like thing by Goya. I really like it. So did the prof, he put it on display! :D

Classic Pen and Ink
An interesting drawing of a chunk of driftwood, done in classic pen-and-ink style, but using "technical pen." The background's just a charcoal smudge used to offset the foreground.

Saqus
(Don't ask what it means...)
One of some drawings of a specific set that wouldn't fit anywhere else. This is yet another of my own creations, not here to leave with strangers. <g>
A page of a spellbook from a world-in-creation. Link here for the translation of the text on it. No stealing any of it! ;) (Like you would by now, right? <g>)

Tech Pen and Photoshop for Webpage Graphics

Group Poses
Lex, Macavity, Gabriel, and Esa in a not-that-great group shot.

Esa Shadowtree
For the "Wyvern Awards" icon... She kinda looks evil in this one, doesn't she? <g>
For the Gallery! Esa always did want to be an artist...
For her profile. It's not very ladylike to use a sword, is it? Actually, among her people, it's not very magelike either!

Gabriel Moonshadow
For the Library. Gabriel holding a book.
For the Scientific Discussion page. He looks kinda off-model here, doesn't he? <g>
Originally also for the Scientific Discussion page, but now part of the Contact page. Like the wings? They're fake. ;)

Macavity Shydekka
For the Hosts link. Just Maca sitting on a book, looking cute. <g>
For the Links page, hence the chain. Also a nice little pic where you can see some things that set her apart from your typical cat...
For the Pets page. Just Macavity staring at something beneath her. But then, when you're as great as she is, what isn't beneath you? ;P
For her Profile. She's holding a leaf. Why? Because she's a healer and uses stuff like that, of course! :D

Tech Pen and Colored Pencil Mixed Media
Part of the Title Design for the Christmas 'Fic The Holly and The Ivy.
Another part of the Title Design for The Holly and the Ivy.
The finished Title Design for the story.

Commission Pieces
Raccoon-Winged Cat hybrid. Copyright the owners of it. :)
Another of those hybrids. Ultimately there's supposed to be 6...
The third of the hybrids...
The parents of the hybrids. Awww, aren't they a cute couple? <g> Copyright the two players of the characters.
