TUPAC TRIBUTE
Chuck D
Interviewed by Rob Kenner the weekend of Tupac's death
To me he's like the James Dean of our times. Basically a rebel without a cause. And the industry and the media are partially responsable for whatever goes down, in accenting on the negative aspect of a black celebrity. It's the soup-up, gas-up treatment. They soup him up and they're not there on the downside. People think that this man's life was entertainment.
One of our best talents is gone over some bullshit. I'm fuckin' pissed. I ain't putting up tears. Tears ain't doing a damn thing. Interscope will go on to sell 10 million copies of this album. Make a scholarship fund out of their share of the money. That's what I call making things happen.
As of November 25, Chuck came to believe that Tupac may have facked his own death only to reappear elsewhere. Chuck shared some of his reasons behind his theory at an Atlanta press conference.
Tupac was a reader of Nicolo Machiavelli, author of The Prince.(Tupac even adopted this name for his Killuminati album.) This Italian author and theorist is famous for faking his own death to fool his enemies, something Shakur apparently also talked of doing.
Tupac died on Friday the 13th.
Tupac was cremated so soon after his death.
Neither the suspects nor the white cadillac they drove was ever found.
Tupac always wore a bulletproof vest, except this one time.
Las Vegas is a "Payoff city".
Death Row records had a lot to gain, with the material for three albums unreleased.
Tupac's final album cover art depicts the artist in the image of Jesus Christ on the cross, possibly setting up his future ressurrection.
Suge Knight and Tupac are the only two people with the guts and a high enough profile to pull off a stunt like this.
