Hammer (or MC Hammer), grew up in Oakland, California. He rocked the world in 1990 with that unforgettable track "U Can't Touch This". He won best rap artist at the '91 MTV Awards, and was proclaimed 'The King Of Rap'. His baggy pants, and fly dancin' moves had the world shakin', but it didn't last. Hammer spent his huge amounts of earnings quickly, and even a comeback album couldn't get him back on track. In 1996, he filed for bankruptcy. However, Death Row CEO Suge Knight thought he could bring Hammer back, and signed him to Death Row the same year. Apart from numerous public appearances, including at the hospital where Tupac was after he was shot in Las Vegas, Hammer never dropped his first Death Row joint. He was busy in the Death Row studios working on his new album which will be titled "Family Affair" and is rumored to include Tupac. However, Hammer has now left Death Row for Oaktown Records and the album will be released on that label, not Death Row. It will be interesting to see if this album remakes Hammer or proves he is just a one-hit wonder.
