a mid-season review

Well, as the season nears it's almost half-way mark, I thought I'd try something new. A review from me. I know you're just jumping for joy. :-) Feel free to post your own comments on the season so far and this new section on the message boards. If you guys like reading this, email me and I'll start doing them more often.

Well, after the first episode of Party of Five this season, I began to think that the show was showing some of the unique qualities that made the first seasons such a hit. I began to look forward to what this new season would bring. Well it's nearly halfway over and there have been some really good moments, but also a few upsets as well. First off, my thoughts on each storyline....

Charlie, Daphne, and Diana - I've thought that this storyline has been good so far. Charlie is so cute as an almost first-time dad. I thought the episode where Diana was born was very well done, and I loved the end where Charlie brought a picture of Diana to his parent's grave. However, I didn't like how Daphne seems to not care so much about the baby. Also, I have one question... I know that Charlie and Daphne sleep in the same bed, but are confused as to whether or not they're actually a couple. If they are, I would like to see them develop it more for the viewers to see, or else make it clear that nothing is happening.

Bailey and Sarah - I have loved seeing these two together, as did many others! I've liked them since the beginning, and am happy the writers have paired them up again. It's nice to see at least one happy couple on the show.... Let's just hope it continues.

Julia, Ned, and Griffin - I think that this has been alright so far... just one quick question... Are they ever gonna do something about Julia and Griffin's still existent MARRIAGE? I think that her and Griffin should decided things one way or the other before she get's too involved with Ned. As far as Ned goes I liked him at first, but he seems a little weird, adn way to dependent on being with Julia. However, I'm still interested to see how things progress.

Claudia - I think Claudia's story this season has been great. It was refreshing to see her in a storyline where she was with friends, and did normal teenager stuff. Also, I think Lacey Chabert has grown up a lot in the last two seasons, and I am really enjoying watching her storylines. I hope they continue to show her with a life outside of her family's crisis's.

Kirsten and Paul - I'm really happy to see Kirsten being such a part of the Salinger family again. I love her character, and I hope we continue to see her a lot. As for Paul, I didn't mind at all when he was not even mentioned until the November episodes. I don't like him and Kirsten together. What can I say... I'm an eternal Kirsten and Charlie fan!

Owen - I'm not sure what to say about Owen, except for, "Wow! He grew a lot over the summer!". I always used get bothered over how Owen would not be shown for numerous episodes, but now that they do show him... I wish they wouldn't. I think the character this season is whiney and annoying, and I just hope he doesn't continue like that for the whole season.

Thurber - After a few seasons's absence the family dog has returned. I think the scene where they showed him again was the funniest all season. But of course, we probably won't see him for another couple seasons! :-)

Best and Worst check:

Worst Scene

The worst scene has to go to anyone where Owen was whining. One of the worst was durring the Thanksgiving episode, when he was complaining in public about not getting some toy.

Worst Storyline

One storyline that bothered me was when Sarah left Bailey when he said he would definately support her if she got pregnant, but doesn't actually want a baby right now. I don't know how Sarah could've blamed him for not wanting kids at such a young age. She should have thought about these things before she got so involved with Bailey, and I think she made too much of the situation.

Worst Episode

The Thanksgiving one. I know a lot of people liked it, but I didn't. It reminded me more of an episode of cops. I think the writers were trying to make an exciting storyline for November Sweeps, while losing the whole Party of Five feeling. I thought that the only decent scene was the last one when they were all eating dinner in the backround while Owen talked to Claudia on the phone.

Best Scene

The one where Charlie took a picture of Diana to his parents grave, and said something along the lines of "Look what I made".

Best Performance

While I think that all the actors on the show do a great job, Matthew Fox has continued to give excellent performances. He's also been given some of the best material in the last two seasons.

Best Storyline

My favorite storyline so far has been Claudia at school, and Kirsten and Paul.... I love seeing them when they don't get along! :-)

Best Episode

My favorite episode so far has been The Christmas episode. I loved seeing the whole family back together, and the last scene with Charlie, Griffin, and Claudia eating takeout was great. Also worth mentioning was the episode where Diana was born. The whole thing where Charlie had to choose who to save was really well done.
