Black Mask!

Technical:
Starring:
Jet Li, Karen Mok, Lau Ching Wan.
Directed by: Daniel Lee Produced by: Tsui Hark
Length: 83min   Production year:1996.

This film is quite bizarre for an Jet Li film. It has a high level of both action and violence.
Jet playes a former member of a team of assasins, called the 701 squad, in this group he recived an operation.
This operation took away his feelings for anything, he could no longer feel any pain and therefore
became the perfect assassin. He fleed from the group and goes into hidding in Hong Kong as a library assistant.
He want no part of his previous life, and rarely uses violence. Then a series of Hong Kong drug lords are
killed, and the killer uses methodes only used by the 701. And when a friend of Jet, a policeman, is in danger.
Jet then use a mask to hide his identity as he tries to put a stop to the squad.
Although a somewhat futuristic atmosphere, it still has some great fighter scenes.
And eventhough guns are not that frequent in most Jet Li film, they are really great in this film.
In reflection, this film was really a great action film. I say this eventhough the version
I bought of the film was without widescreen and was dubbed into English.
