With the departure of Roger Moore the producers went back to the drawing board with a new Bond. They selected Pierce Brosnan to replace Roger in The Living Daylights in 1987. Pierce caught the eye of the producers with his lead role in the TV show Remington Steele. After NBC caught wind that Pierce was hot stuff they decided to continue producing Remington Steele. That meant that Pierce was out of the Bond role due to his contract with NBC. That opened the role up again and this time to Timothy Daulton who had a large theatre background. Timothy’s first appearance was a nice success, but it wasn’t huge. For many know and unknown reasons crowds didn’t flock to Timothy like they did Roger. Part of that is due to the different style that Timothy brought to Bond. He wasn’t big on the humor that Roger’s Bond had on screen. He wanted Bond to return to the Sean Connery style of Bond which was what he considered to be the only way. The Living Daylights follows Bond on a mission at first to help a Russian General Koskov to defect to Great Britain. Of course this turns out to be cover for a secret plan between Koskov and Brad Whitaker are selling drugs and guns.
