"How I became a fan..."

These are taken from the WyleFans mailing list.  If you have a story to contribute, let me know.

Since we are in the middle of a long ER dry spell here, I thought I'd ask if anyone actually noticed Noah when "A Few Good Men" first came out in 1992?  Believe it or not - I did.  I actually made my friends stay for the credits so I could see what his name was, went home and wrote it down.

Well, about TEN years ago, I remember sitting in a small artsy theatre in North Park, watching that classic John Waters movie.....LUST IN THE DUST.  And when the bar scenes came on the screen and all the men started crowding into the room to listen to Divine, I distinctly remember noticing how outstanding this ONE PARTICULAR extra was.  He was short, youthful, but had a full mustache.  Wore all white....a sarape and huge sombrero.  And at the point where he had this big beer in front of him, I distinctly remember thinking to myself...."This kid is going to make a name for himself some day....maybe even get nominated and win an emmy".  And then as a secondary thought...I distinctly remember thinking...."Hummm, wonder if he is going to get involved in independent films, not just as an actor, but maybe even as an associate producer.  I bet," I mused, "He might even get an Oscar nod for that one.....if he ever decided to do it......in the future."

OKOKOKOKOK....what do I win for that one?

First, Penny you are full of it!  ROFL  Don't force those of us who know to tell the real story about Lust in the Dust (which I actually did see in 1985 but did not notice that particular extra!).

Ok, I can't out-do anybody who has posted so far.  I first noticed Noah on ER.  But there is a story here.  When ER first premiered I decided that I didn't want to watch it.  To be completely honest, the reason was that I knew that it starred Anthony Edwards and I absolutely HATED that bubble-guy character he played on Northern Exposure.  Well, one Thursday, I broke down and watched.  For those of you who have seen it, it was the episode in which Carter was taking care of a transexual patient and the patient committed suicide by jumping off of the roof (the opening credit scene of Carter with his head down on his stethoscope is from this episode I think).  Anyway, I was absolutely mesmerized.  Couldn't take my eyes off of him.  Decided that I was willing to make the sacrifice of watching more Anthony Edwards if it also meant watching Noah Wyle.  Ok, so that's my story.  And it is the truth. BTW, I have since decided that Anthony Edwards is OK - rather like him now - I've even made it a point to watch a couple of AE movies.

Alright, am I the only one here who is honest enough to admit that
I never saw, or at least noticed Noah until ER came on.  I did however,
take real good notice on the pilot of ER and have been noticing Noah
ever since.  :)

Well in the first season I only watched occasionally but nevertheless I thought Noah was a good actor. Then I was vacationing in Colorado and I had a dream about Noah
and I thought about him a lot. Then when the second season came around I was hooked,in love and obsessed with Noah. So I have been a total Noah nut for about 2 years [pathetic isn't it?].

The first memory I have of Noah is the first time he appeared on ER.  I remember him putting on his white coat, and brushing it a bit with his hand, and then I remember two other ER-members (I don't remember, Anthony or Eric and one of the nurses I think) said something about that being the first time they saw a tailor made doctors coat.  At that very moment I had put Noah under my wings, and I truly became a fan.  I've been so afraid that he should leave when he got his degree, but now I feel secure he will not go away, as he is becoming a very valuable member of the cast.  I think Noah in many ways are the best actor of them all.  He has such a register to play on, and his character goes through so much more than the others (from student to doctor, from single to a pair back to single, dealing with death and birth for the first time and so on and so on).  I really am looking forward to the next season, even if it will not be until next year.
