BAD DREAMS

(1988, USA)

DIRECTED BY: Andrew Fleming.

Highly entertaining psychological thriller which leaves you baffled when it comes to a close. It has a young lady in a cult who refuses to commit mass suicide with the group. The rest of them do of course in the opening scene which is a great, chilling way to start the film.

The rest of it has the young survivor (Jennifer Rubin) in a mental hospital for young people under the care of doctor Bruce Abbott from Re-animator fame. Robin has continuing hallucinations of the cult leader (a now crispy Richard Lynch) showing up in the hospital.

The patients in the hospital start dying in some very nasty ways and Robin thinks that Lynch is back from the grave doing the killing. The movie uses a good cast, gruesome deaths, nice twists and a statement about mind altering drugs to deliver a very entertaining film.

Rating: 3 ½ Skulls
