BASKET CASE
(1981, USA)
DIRECTED BY: Frank Henenlotter.
US One of the most famous low-budget horror classics of the eighties is also one of the coolest cheese films to come in a long while. Kevin VanHentryck plays a shy young male who travels with a wicker basket in hand through the streets of New York City. What is inside the basket is his twin brother, a telepathic mutant who was once attached to the shy boy. The pair are on a quest to find the doctors who separated them years before and do them in most cruel ways. With a look and feel of a low budget film, Basket Case is that rare horror film that uses its bare bones budget to craft a movie that looks and feels like an early film by John Waters and David Lynch. Not really a bad movie but definitely a cheese flik!

BASKETCASE
(1981, USA)

Twisted and ultra low budget (it looks like the film was shot on a budget of a 100 bucks) monster tale with a nice twist. Its about a young man (Kevin Van Hentryck) who wanders around with a basket under his arm. In the basket is his Siamese twin brother who is a deformed creature.
Hentryck feeds his brother hamburgers, hookers and lowlifes from the seedy time square roach motel where he dwells. the creature looks a bit silly but he is effective. The ending is quite interesting and in general Hentryck is really quirky in his role. Film is a good time, what can I say.
Rating: 3 ½ Skulls
