BLOOD CULT

(1985, USA)

DIRECTED BY: Christopher Lewis.

Ultra low budget production by the same director who brought us The Ripper. Although this is slated to be one of the first straight to home video releases the film is undistinguishable from the herds of other low budget horror entries. The cast just doesn't work especially the old guy who investigates the ritualistic murders on a college campus

The acting is horrible and there is not enough gore for a low budget entry. That's the key when making a low budget horror/schlock film. Adding loads of da sauce. A couple of memorable (for the time being) kills include an arm and leg amputation but all has been done and seen before in greater abundance.

The film moves along at an excruciatingly slow rate. The ending is horribly done in a sloppy fashion and the conclusion leaves you unsatisfied because it doesn't tie up the loose ends. Bad film indeed. The low budget American horror film-makers could learn a lot from the low budget German horror film-makers and I mean A LOT! followed by a sequel titled Revenge.
