CON-AIR
(1997, USA)
DIRECTED BY: Jerry Buckenheimer.
Oh my fucking goodness! what do we have here? a new action film that has all the right elements to become one of my all time favourites. The hell with talentless shit like Speed, Eraser, Demolition Man, Bad Boys, True Lies, Under Siege etc,. Rarely does a new movie have classic potential but in my books this is one.
Nicoholas Cage plays Cameron Poe, a
special military unit soldier who returns
home to his pregnant wife. Poe fights off some asshole
boozers looking for trouble and
accidently slits one of the morons throats. Surprisingly for only defending his family he
gets thrown in the slammer for
around eight years. Cage keeps contact with his family
through the mail because he doesn't
want his daughter to see him in prison. The day finally comes when he is released. Cage
hitches a ride to freedom on a
plane loaded down with some of societys
worst killers.
The wide array of villians are good characters especially Steve Buscemi as a soft spoken cannibal! who is definetly the coolest of the bunch. Poe along with help from the excellent character of a marshall played by John Cusack "Saves The Day". Anyways the plane is hi-jacked by an in genious plan by Cirus The Virus played by John Malkovich who is the sort of character you don't mind one minute but you can't stomach him the next.
Great, classic and very enjoyable/watchable action pic. Superb goddamitt! with too many great moments and nice dialogue to keep track of, just watch it and find out. Cages character is very likable.
