EVIL ED

(1995, Sweden)

DIRECTED BY: Anders Jacobsson.

A low budget attempt at trying to make a humorous gore film but lets face it, this is no "Bad Taste". The bad part is the film tries to be funnier than gory with an over abundance of fake looking and sounding punches. There isn't much gore except for your usual decapitation, walls being sprayed with blood and severed limbs, nothing new is added to genre.

Its about a film editor named Edward who is asked to edit a horror series called Loose Limbs. In order to concentrate on his important project he is moved to a private cottage. After going through the films over and over the editor begins to lose his marbles and ends up killing, a good idea wasted. Theres a lot of talking to imaginary weirdos and stupid acting while the film tries to pass off a message that watching too many horror films can damage the mind. The only thing is horror fans don't care about a message like that because they like horror films.

I'm getting tired of watching films that try to pass themselves off as being moral (exceptions being classics Night Of The Living Dead 1968 version and Cannibal Holocaust). The movie was filmed in English but you can tell the actors are Swedish, the film isn't dubbed like I said but it is something about how they're mouths move. The only bit of gore in it which is any good but still heavily cliched from action films is the conclusion. I wouldn't be in a hurry to check this film out.
