Russ Meyer's opus to exploitation is not only one of his most fun but also has the coolest title of the day. You have three very sexy yet tough go-go dancers, all wearing slim hot pants and revealing blouses. As with any team of hot babes they each have a skill to make them who they are: Varla (Tura Satana) is the Karate expert, Rosie (Haji), Varla's lover, who is just plain mean and a typical girl next door gone bad named Billie (Lori Williams). The three babes are in an impromptu desert race in California when everything goes wrong. Soon they find themselves up to their knees in murder, kidnapping, lust and even robbery. They kidnap a young couple and Varla quickly dispatches the male with a swift Karate kick to the back. They then travel to a small town and inquire a gas attendant about an old man who may a have horde of cash at his farm. The old coot, who is wheelchair bound is a mean soul and his two grown sons are his faithful servants. The girls try to seduce the men to reveal the location of their money yet little do they realize the old man has plans of his own. A few years back a ruckus was raised over Ridley Scott's Thelma & Louise, yet few realize that Russ Meyer's film babes would make Thelma and Louise look like school girls. The film is both an ode to female empowerment and plain old fashioned ass-whooping. We have three very chesty woman who kick, steal, and murder to get what they want and no man can stop them. Arguably one of Russ Meyer's most famous films, fellow cult filmmaker John Waters (Hairspray) called Faster Pussycat "beyond a doubt, the best movie ever made. It is possibly better than any film that will be made in the future." No doubt the test of time has only made this film a bigger cult classic and an ironic nod to the exploitation genre which would dominate the industry a few years later.
