KING OF NEW YORK
(1990, USA)
DIRECTED BY: Abel Ferrara.
Entertaining mob film about head gangster Christopher Walken who just gets out of jail. Upon returning he wipes out the competition and must then deal with the cops who are after him in a very big way. Lots of violent shoot outs and a not so explosive or thought provoking conclusion, something which in that department Ferrara usually delivers.
Walken is great in his role and he actually makes a mob boss look like a nice guy. Laurence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes and David Caruso co-star. Even James Lorinz from Street Trash and Frankenhooker has a small role until he comes in contact with a fire hydrant, literally.
