LEATHERFACE: TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE III
(1989, USA)
DIRECTED BY: Jeff Burr.
The third installment to the classic first two falls very short to the point that I thought it was disappointing. The so called uncut version didn't have a whole lot more gore and it was missing the man being cut completely half scene I've been hearing about (is there such a scene in the first place?). This one is more like a remake of the first with the exhuming of bodies, gas station sequance and the old house in the backwoods. More family members are introduced and leatherface doesn't look half as cool as he did in the first two. Maybe this is not supposed to be a remake though as leatherface is wearing a brace on his leg from the wound he recieved in I. He was killed in the sequal as well (who can forget Savini's astonishing gore)
Movie isn't all that bad, the opening is superb with leatherface carving himself a new mask. Some nice metal music and Ken Foree kicking the families ass from here to Tuesday. The ear and finger shooting scenes are nice plus there is a nice messy saw death but you don't see much just lots of blood. The film just didn't try to be scary I mean leatherface just comes out of nowhere in one scene and they make the film too obvious. Worth a watch but don't expect anything spectacular.
