LONESTAR
(1996, USA)
DIRECTED BY: John Sayles.
This critically acclaimed mystery didn't seem all that appealing to me. Sure Siskel and Ebert said they liked it but they also like crap that sucks such as Fargo. I would still take this film over the latter mentioned anyday of course. I wanted to see this film and I was expecting a lot more out of it. It seemed like I was watching it and waiting for the film to take off into brilliant material. It was basically about a southern community with many different cultures of people. The skeleton of someone has been recently discovered and the sheriff of the town (Chris Cooper) tries to unfold the mystery.
The whole ordeal goes years back and it involves Coopers father. Surprisingly I was quite correct in my assumption concerning the turn out of the film. This was nothing special at all though for a film I've heard soooo much about. When you think of critically acclaimed it really doesn't mean much at all now does it. Think about it.
