MALL RATS

(1995, USA)

DIRECTED BY: Kevin Smith.

This film seems to attract negative energy. People I have talked to despised the film. Other critics alike have given their disapproval. Well I really liked it and so did a friend of mine I watched it with. You know this film has to be funny because I actually laughed while viewing on numerous occasions. There were a couple of moments involving non sense like the Batman shit and other stunts which were quite unamusing. That phrase snootchie-wootchies or whatever its called kinda grew on me although I'm sure some will be asking themselves "what the fuck!?"

Anyway the film has a couple of guys trying to get back with their girlfriends. They go to the mall and this is where the whole movie takes place. The comic book fellow ( I'm not sure if it's Jason Lee or Jeremy London) overacted quite nicely. The kid on the escalator bit was OTT hilarity so was the triple nippled fortune teller. The two psycho buddies (including director Smith as Silent Bob) were top notch characters. Shannon Dorhety didn't do much except look good. The same goes for Claire Forlani.

Can't forget the great Weezer song at the end. To like this film you have to have a particular sense of humor I guess. Oh ya, Stan Lee the head of Marvel Comics makes an appearance as well.
