Chris Sarandon
Chris was born July 24, 1942 in Beckley, West Virginia. Here, he did some outdoor drama productions, and also toured with the National Players for a season. He trained at the Catholic University of American Drama Department. He worked in an improv group and also did some work on Broadway before hitting the big screen. In 1975, he played Leon Shermer (a transsexual lover) in Dog Day Afternoon, which won him an Oscar nomination.
Chris married Susan (Tomalin) Sarandon in 1968, but has since divorced her. In 1994 he married Joanna Hall Gleason. Joanna is currently performing on Broadway in the new musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
