The Ultimate Kurt Russell Pages

Overboard

This film stars Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell as Dean Proffitt (they live together in real life, and have children but aren't married). It is a romantic comedy from Gary Marshall. It seems like it is a Walt Disney film, but was really made by MGM Pictures. Goldie plays the role of a rich woman and Kurt is a carpenter, who builds a closet for her.  The closet made of Oak, but Goldie complains that closets are supposed to be made of Cedar. She refuses to pay him even so Dean has done his job. She pushes Dean overboard along with his repair equipment. Anyway, later on Goldie's character falls overboard and completely looses her memory. Dean comes up with the idea that he can use her to get his chores done (and also because his children need a mother), so he pretends to be her husband. He tells her that they have had four boys together. Eventually they fall in love. Then when her memory returns she realizes that he has lied to her, and she returns to her boat. But she is not happy living without him, and so turns the boat around. In the end they live happily ever after.

The film made 27 million dollars in the United States, which is fairly good for a 1987 comedy. It is not a bad film, and sometimes it's good to get away from all the other graphic and violent movies that are made these days. Overboard is good for a couple of laughs, and it's relaxing to watch. I give it an 7 out of 10.

"Sure I love Goldie. How could you not love Goldie? Everyone loves Goldie. I love her, and I hope our love will continue, but I don't want to give an I-love-Goldie-Hawn interview."
