Riff Raff

(1935)

Riff Raff

Spencer Tracy plays a big-egoed fisherman, who after breaking up a strike is made head of the local union. Eventually, though, because of his own self-conceit he gets into trouble and is kicked out of the union. His wife (Harlow) tries to help him and ends up getting thrown in prison for stealing money. Merkel is good as Harlow's sister. Not Tracy's best, but entertaining none the less.
