"Staring through the knot hole, of Country's wooden fence..." Snack bar, lot, and over-parked car.

You can see the wooden screen tower several blocks down the road. Note the metal brackets hanging from the telephone poles toward the road. These are left over from the city's trolley line, kept open until the late 1970s as a freight line. A length of the line is still open as a tourist line and museum. What I wouldn't give for a photo of a trolley car running past the back of the screen.

Back of newer screen, and elementary school mural on fence.

This fence faces an elementary school, and has been painted as a school project.

Even the afore mentioned trolley line is remembered.

Bruce Humphrey writes: Jeff Anderson owns the Country Drive-In in Yakima which saw its last season last year (2001) and will not be reopening. Plans are to build a grocery store on this site.
