Act III, Aberdeen

I drove by this lot in the spring of 1999, and found it under advanced stages of demolition. It looked like this theater had been hit with the same nuclear bomb from the Terminator movies, but I didn't take any pictures because I hadn't started up this page yet. Luckily Ken Layton has saved the day and has lent me some of his pictures.

This photo is of the marquee. This marquee replaces the original "Paul Bunyon" huge neon marquee that Act 3 Theatres did not want to repair. It was located at 5515 Olympic Highway, Aberdeen, Wash. 98520 phone was (360) 533-1181. Operated by Act 3 Theatres when it was closed. Note the name of the theatre was originally the HARBOR Drive-in. Act 3 Theatres changed the name of the theater to HARBOR VUE. Endless Horizons mobile home dealer now occupies the site. Only the theater marquee remains as of July 2000. -- Ken Layton

This is a picture of the Projection/snack bar building with screen #1 in the background. This is the theater's original HUGE screen and is made with wooden telephone poles for support beams and the white face of the screen is made with ASBESTOS tiles. --Ken Layton.

(This screen was half torn down when I drove by it, yet it wasn't under wraps to control the spread of the dangerous fibers. I wonder if the workers even knew it was asbestos.)

This is screen # 2 which is all metal and was added in 1979 when it was operated by Tom Moyer's Luxury Theaters (based in Portland, Oregon). --Ken Layton

This is a picture of one of the cartoon murals. This one is of Minnie Mouse BREASTFEEDING! A very similar one is also at the Sunset Drive-in in Tumwater, Wash. --Ken Layton

Do mice even have breasts on their upper chest?

Microsoft Terraserver view of theater. I think the older, bigger screen was to the southwest, yet the lot for this screen is smaller, because the projection booth is closer to it.
