Security

Security on the show is a very serious issue. With the current topics, surprises and confrontations it is inevitible that violence and fighting will break out. It is with this in mind that off duty Chicago Police Officers are recruited as Security for the show with their primary task of looking after Jerry and their secondary task of keeping the peace between guests!

Steve Wilkos is Director Of Security on the show and as such is in charge of all security on the show.

"I'm almost like an audience member, except i interact if there's a physical confrontation," Steve said.

Steve's favourite shows are the relationship shows that are being done all the time due to the popularity of them!

"The show was successful, but now its really taking off. I think it's the nature of the show. We do relationship shows. They're very confrontational. They're very explosive, and i think people want to see that. And i think its something people can relate to," Steve said.

Steve says he uses necessary force when he intervenes onstage. "This last show, a woman was grabbing hair, and woman are hard to separate. But, if you apply pressure to the wrist, they'll let go," Steve said.

Being on America's #1 chat show has helped Steve in his job as a patrolman. "I got a call last night, domestic, the whole family is fighting. And we got there and they're like, 'oh, you're on Jerry!' and they forget about their problems. They want to know if they can get tickets, t-shirts, all that... its kind of making me a mini-celebrity," Steve said!
