Mel brilliantly satirizes Hitchcock. He stars a Dr. Richard Thorndyke,
who slowly uncovers some mysterious goings-on at the lunatic asylum
which he has recently taken over. Hitch's theme of voyeurism is the one
most prominently dealt with in the film, which contains parodies of
scenes from The Birds, Vertigo, and Psycho. Harvey Korman, Cloris
Leachman, and Madeline Kahn firmly established their status as Brooks
regulars with this one. 3 and half out of 4.

This is my second favorite Brooksfilm, you just can't top "Young Frankenstein". The reason I like it is the fact that it has the feel of the movies it's spoofing. It really feels like a Hitchcock thriller, but Hitchcock has never been this funny. Being a parody of many of Hitchcock's films, it has a wide range of laughter. Not unlike "Blazing Saddles" which had a million westerns to parody. The first time I saw it, I had never heard of it, and figured if it was an unheard of Mel Brooks movie then It must not be any good. But this movie is ten times better than the movies Mel has been turning out recently. Madeline Kahn is hilarious. This has to be her best preformance in any of Mel's movies. Harvey Korman and Cloris Leachman make a hilarious pair as Dr. Montague, the cowardly villan, and Nurse Diesel, his manly lover. Mel Brooks doesn't have enough room to be funny here, he's the main character and he has to be toned down a bit. A hilarious suprise was Howard Morris as Professor Lilloman, you may remember him as "faggot" from History of the World, or perhaps as the voice of "Gopher" on Winnie the Pooh. The cast is the best and the funniest. I give this movie the highest rating: ****
