I laughed a couple of times in Spaceballs, but it wasn't because of the witty diologue that made me love mel brooks movies. All the humor came from the names, and after the first time they became annoying. Sight Gags aren't what Mel's good at. I enjoyed all the scenes with Rick Moranus in them, but the protagonist scenes weren't funny at all. The fighting conversations that Vespa and Lone Star had weren't spoofs...Leia and Han could have had the same conversation. Mel Brooks gave the best preformances in the movie, coming in before Rick Moranis. Even though some of Mel's lines stunk, he can make you laugh with a bad joke. Good thing, or Spaceballs would've been sunk.

Funny spoof, but what's the point? Brooks has some extremely funny gags in the film, but there isn't his usual subtext of serious ideas. Too much of the jokes, also, are too lame. Very '80s, though. 2 and half out of 4
