Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet)
Rose, a young woman of high society, was
traveling on the Titanic with her fiance Cal
Hockley to Philadelphia. She doesn't like the
suffocating lifestyle she has, however, and longs
to control her own destiny.
Old Rose (Gloria Stuart)
Gloria Stuart plays Rose DeWitt Bukater at the
ripe old age of 101. Now known as Rose Calvert,
she is watching the news one day when she discovers
that a picture found aboard the sunken Titanic is of her.
Caledon Hockley (Billy Zane)
Caledon is a rich, aristocratic young man who
is engaged to Rose. He sees her not as a wife but
as a piece of property to suit his needs. As a token
of his "love" he gives to Rose as an engagement
present a beautiful blue necklace once owned by Louis
XVI known as the Coeur de la Mer (the Heart of the Ocean.)
Ruth DeWitt Bukater (Frances Fisher)
Ruth DeWitt Bukater is Rose's mother who fully
supports the marriage of Rose and Cal. She thought
that he was a good ally in her struggle to tame the
rebelious Rose. Their family had been marked by
financial troubles due to her husband's debts, and the
marriage of Rose and Cal would help to solve these
problems.
Molly Brown (Kathy Bates)
Molly Brown wasn't brought up as high society,
but came into money later on in life. Because of
this she held views different from the others and was
often shunned. Her efforts to steer the lifeboat
back to rescue those who were still in the water earned
her the nickname "The Unsinkable Molly Brown."
Captain Edward J. Smith (Bernard Hill)
Captain Edward J. Smith was a rather popular one
with his passengers, generally known as being an
easygoing and kind man. He was never before involved
in any kind of shipwreak, so White Starline often
invited him to be captain of ships on their maiden
voyage. His luck, and his life, ran out due to the
sinking of Titanic.
Spicer Lovejoy (David Warner)
Spicer Lovejoy was the tough, mean bodyguard
of Cal Hockley. He strived to keep Cal out of
trouble, and later to follow Rose and report her
whereabouts. He often had to resort to violence,
as was shown when he was put in charge of watching
Jack after he was arrested.
