I was in NY around Easter and saw "Nine"! What can I say? It was just wonderful!!! Mary Stuart was excellent; who new she can sing that good. The two songs she sings "My Husband Makes Movies" (in Act 1) and "Be On Your Own" (in Act 2) were really emotional, especially the second one. She also sings with the whole cast. And her acting was great as ever. She has to do an Italian accent and she does it really good. The musical is very well done!!

I loved you in Fried Green Tomatoes! But I have to say that by far Benny and Joon was my favorite. I am mentally ill and have a daughter who unfortunately shares the same mental illness. Your performance was outstanding and I felt gave some valuable insight into the dark side as well as the possible humor involved in the life of someone who is mentally ill. I don't think it's been confirmed yet, but there's been rumors that Mary Stuart Masterson is the next Sally Bowles in the Broadway production of Cabaret. I was lucky enough to catch "On The 2nd Day Of Christmas" in December, so I now have that to watch.
As English as I am, coming from London, I now reside in Reno, NV, & am still after "Love Lives On" & "My Little Girl". AND I'm after the "Amazing Stories" episode Mary Stuart did with Christopher Lloyd, "Go To The Head Of The Class".

I recently fell in love with MAry Stuart Masterson after seeing her in Heaven Help US and SKOW on cable TV. I noted the question as to the director of Mary Stuart's new movie "West of Here." According to the Daily Variety film production chart, the producer is Peter Masterson, Sr. The Director-Cameraman is simply listed as "Masterson" which I believe is Peter, Jr., her brother. He has been assistant camera on several films, including "Lily Dale." So, with Carlyn acting in the picture, it is truly a family affair. "The Performing Mastersons!" Love it!

Just thought you would all like to know that the stone-
framed "window" that Mary Stuart is looking out of in the
still from "Bad Girls" used in this web page is actually a
low, ground-level wall built to duplicate the top of the
Alamo chapel in John Wayne's "The Alamo." Previous
thespians to use the set were John Wayne, Laurence Harvey
and Richard Widmark when Harvey fires the cannon in answer
to the surrender demand made by General Santa Anna in this
1960 70mm epic. I'd say that Mary Stuart packs just as

I appreciate the Breast Cancer awareness symbol, as my
mother and sister are both survivors. I don't know why,
but I have always called her Melissa Sue, but now all I
have to remember is Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots to get it
straight. A person that reminds me of Mary Stu is the
Alternative Rocker, Juliana Hatfield. They both have that
serious intensity, and they are the same generation, and
share those same WASPy features. I appreciate Mary Stu's
work, as I think she is the Kate Hepburn of her generation,
displaying all the independence I can respect.

There's something about Mary. I don't think I've ever
connected with an actor before - in spirit that is. She must
have a heart even bigger than Texas. No one else has, to me
anyway, poured so much much emotion into a scene like she
has. Mary transcends spiritual boundaries like love
transcends even the essence of thought. I like to think of
her as one graceful willow tree on the bank of a quiet,
gently flowing river, and I another. Separated by a rising
bend, one never to see the other, I can can continue to
bloom year-after-year, because I know she's there. My
graceful willow.
