Synopsis

                           Tony Wendice, an ex-tennis player and playboy, fears that his noble, wealthy wife will leave
                    him and that he will lose her riches. He contacts an old friend and blackmails him into killing Margot
                    in their London apartment, while he is out. But the perfect crime goes awry.

- Hitchcock filmed the play as it had been performed on stage, using the single set to create a
claustrophobic feeling.

- Margot's clothes go from a briight, vivid wardrobe to a colourless and depressing one,
coinciding with the darkening of the plot.

       -    The M in tthe title refers to Maida Vale in North London, where the Wendices' apartment is located:
             in the 50's, different parts of London could be telephoned by prefixing the individual number with a
             code letter - in this case M.
