Frequently Asked Questions

Where am I going to live?

Chances are you'll be at Vista Way housing complex. You will be put in either a 4 or 6 person apartment. From my experience I would recommend the 6 person apartment. Not only will you have an extra $12 a week for spending, but you'll get to meet a lot more people, and will have more of a probability of finding your ideal roommate.

Does Disney pay for my transportation to Orlando?

Ideally that would be nice, but no. Chances are you can find a discounted airfare. Mears Schuttles will take you directly to Vista Way from the Orlando airport for only $15.

Can I have overnight visitors?

Because of security reasons all visitors to Vista Way have to leave prorerty before 2:00 AM. Take this serious, if your visitor gets caught, you're terminated! It has been well known for certain guests to hide in car trunks and jump fences, just remember Mickey's watching. So if mom and dad or cousin Jim come to visit, get them a room at the Gatorland Motel.

Do I have telephone service?

At Vista Way, you get free local service, all long distance needs to be done with a calling card. Calling cards can be purchased next to the Vista Way clubhouse, or Walgreens. I found that the Vista Way Clubhouse house phone, has a better dialing range than phones in your apartment, I used it often, especially to order Papa Johns, 560-7272.

What kind of benefits do I get for working for Disney?

FREE ADMISSION, thats right when ever the parks are open you can play for free. On Thursday nights cast members get into Pleasure Island for free, and occasionally they have discounted prices for the water parks. Cast members also get 20% discount on merchandise, and some discount at selected restaurants.

What about transportation?

If possible bring a car, you can get to work without it but lifes a hell of alot easier with one. Don't worry if you don't have one, Vista Way provides shuttles to and from all work locations, and also a shuttle to grocery stores. Who knows you might even meet a few friends while riding.

What to bring along?

You really don't need to bring too many things, Vista provides bed sheets, pillows, and cookware. Make sure to bring plenty of clothes, a TV & VCR if possible. We had a TV, but no VCR. The girls next door got mad because we would accidentally borrow it when they were gone. Try to bring plenty of CD's, you never know what your roommates taste in music will be.

Who will be my roommates?

Unfortanately Mickey is just to busy to let us know ahead of time. Chances are they'll come from all walks of the United States, and might be very different then you. Just come with an open attitude and I'm sure things will work out.

What if your not 21?

My first college program I was under 21, but my second I was over. You can still have a good time if your not 21. There are plenty of parties in Vista Way, the security guards are ususlly pretty cool and leniant if respected. I'm not condoning underage drinking or fake ID's, but I'm sure you know the risks. A few of my friends used fakes, and usually didn't have a problem, but if you get caught on Disney property, it could mean termination.

I've heard many stories about termination, are they true?

It is very easy to make it through the Disney program without getting terminated. Respect the Vista Way security officials, they're not out to get you, just to create some sanity. Don't call in sick a lot, although you'll have a good time, remember what you got hired for. Use common sense, if you think doing your outrageous stunt will get you terminated, it probably will, don't do it.

Will I meet many people?

How many people you meet is up to you. There are many people from all over the United States, chances are you'll meet a significant other. Vista Lay didn't get its nickname for no reason at all.
