Weekly Situation Report, USS HAMILTON
*******************************************************
The McCarter family dinner finally winds down with CSO
Mercedes McCarter introducing or reacquainting everyone
with s'mores and campfire stories. Instead of leaving
with the others hours later, she simply collapses on the
simulated grass and falls asleep. Bad idea, it turns out,
for she immediately begins dreaming she is with her
mother who leads her daughter to the barn where Jelek
murdered her and left Mercedes motherless. As they enter,
Mercedes' mother begins laughing Jelek's evil laugh and
turns into Jelek who lunges at Mercedes with a knife. She
escapes only to find her grave with today's date as the
date of death. At that moment, Jelek reappears and pushes
her backward into the grave the jolt coinciding with
Mercedes' gasping return to consciousness.
CNS Logaan Woods was released from Sickbay shortly before
the dinner ended, but went directly to his quarters since
he was on duty in a few hours. Woods shortly suffers
another episode in which a specter of his sister leads him
throughout the ship's corridors before he manages to corner
"her." When the illusion speaks, which is impossible since
she is autistic, Logaan races down to the Nursery, grabs
his sister while screaming at the caregiver, then races to
Shuttlebay 2 to hijack one of the little ships. A security
measure displaying false data to unauthorized personnel
allows Mercedes to persuade Logaan the shuttles aren't
ready for use and that, if he will come and wait with her,
she will have some Engineers fix them. With him in a cell
in the brig, Mercedes calls on Ensign Lehron, an ex-CNS who
is their new CSciO, to counsel the counsellor.
Beside Woods, Yossarian McCarter also sees a vision, but
Chandler T'krn is hardly running away from him. In fact the
wedding goes very smoothly and beautifully until Chandler's
father, Kevala (who was NOT invited), stands to say he
disapproves of the marriage. At that signal, three goons
attack Chandler, two of whom Mercedes phasers down and the
third of whom winds up on the floor after an encounter with
Chandler's fists. Since the minister was one, Kerry, a priest
and one of the members of the "football team" security gang,
finishes the ceremony. The reception is more peaceful, though
Jolie McCarter, who is attracted to CO Judah Gibbons, catches
Chandler's bouquet and Judah reflexively catches the garter
when it comes flying at him. This, according to tradition,
means that they will be the next ones to marry. According to
McCarter tradition, it means they will marry each other...

With the assistance of NIGHTINGALE's medical/science teams, Doctor
Poynton comes up with
a treatment for the Flu/Achilles virus. Further refining of the
antigen by Poynton results in a
treatment that would be 98% effective. The drug, Almoxcillindine, is
prepared for distribution.
Ens Goose 'awakens' to find himself in the bedroom of his youth on
Bolarus. His mother
informs him that he has been at home all this time and he had fallen in
the quarry and hit his
head.
Doctor Poynton shows up for his scheduled psychological evaluation. He
meets the eclectic
Counseling Staff and get invited for a game of poker. After the game
and session, CNS Kersh
retires to his quarters. There he picks up a gem, given to him by Katie
long ago. This brings
back a flood of memories. A red-haired Bajoran woman with her
six-year-old son arrives at DS
101...Katie?
Lt Rommel finds Captain Alyza's COMM badge in a turbolift, but no sign
of the Captain.
Ens Perrin Jones arrives at DS 101 to take the post of assistant Chief
Science Officer.

As Kelen concludes repairs on the Nightingale, the ship's staff begins
to
work on the problem caused by the Achilles virus: Thayer and McCuen
continue
their work while Stuart and Kel continue their own. Unfortunately, Kel
seems
to have contracted the virus, but a more thorough investigation shows
that
the Achilles virus has triggered the proliferation of a dormant virus in
his
system, putting an antigen within arm's reach for the crew.
Paly'n and Kel conclude their work on the antigen and ship it over to
the
station as Commander Canon recalls the rest of his crew back to the
Nightingale with a message: wrap it up on DS101, we're moving on.
The crew is nearly collected onboard the Nightingale, and the ship is
almost
ready to disembark on its next mission. Preparing the ship for this
event,
Stuart is called into the Commander's ready room for what seems like a
long-overdue meeting...

Amgine Sector and Andromeda Report (by Lt. Alac Nond)
*****************************************************
OP 108 activity has begun increasing with the completion of the orbital
docking platform.
Construction has begun on several new ships at the newly contstructed
shipyards there. In
addition, the Andromeda wormhole has shown no signs of unusual behavior
in recent months,
causing a return of commerce to the area.
Peaceful cooperation with races in the Amgine Sector continue to
increase in the aftermath of
the Noo'Ach Peace and Trade Conference.
Terrorist attacks continue to plague Starfleet ships in the Andromeda
Galaxy. Purist terrorist
cells, devoted to ridding Andromeda of all Federation presence, have
jeopardized the entrance of
Trasior into the Federation. Negotiators on Trasior report that the
Trasien council is considering
withdrawing their application for membership, while various attacks and
disappearances are
being investigated both by Trasien Security and by Starfleet.

Beyond the Portal (by LtCmdr. Eli Meyman)

Recent troop movements along Cardassia's border with Breen space has
sparked some interest in
the Union's possible plans. With relations still cold from the war, no
official inquiries have been
made, and no investigation is planned.
Betazoid Council chairman Beyard Mali and Alpha Centauran Council
chairwoman Vhesha
P'Nehbuddar have announced plans to begin a massive cultural exchange
between their two
peoples, including cultural centers on each of the two race's home
planets. The cultural centers
will be primarily devoted to exploration of similarities between the two
cultures and will include
expositions on the theoretical genetic links between Alpha Centaurans
and Betazoids.
Three suspected members of the Orion Syndicate were indicted today at a
Federation Council
hearing. Although the Orion Syndicate has been careful in the past to
remain outside of
Federation jurisdiction, the recent acceptance of Vermanda III into the
UFP has expanded
StarFleet presence into a previously unmoderated area, heavily used by
Syndicate trafficking.
StarFleet expects no retaliation, but also no more arrests, as the
Syndicate has most likely
changed their operations routes.
