Civ Yossarian McCarter takes his wife, ex-assistCSO Chandler T'krn
McCarter to see their friend Civ Carter Gillespie so they can share with
him their good news. After tormenting Carter for a few minutes by
beating around the bush, Yossarian tells him that Chandler is pregnant
and Carter offers to make some of his special chili in celebration. On
hearing that, Chandler makes the special request that he --not-- include
jalapenos so the child will survive the experience.
After reviewing updates on the ship's status, CO Judah Gibbons notices
an appointment with ship's CMO Chip slipped into his timetable of what's
going on. He takes the opportunity for a few minutes' break from the
paperwork and for FO Miranda Sands' and CSciO Jur Lehron's sake it's a
good thing he does. Jur managed to slap together a communications
device, but just before using it junior staff outside the holodeck
manage tolock onto them and transport them out... right onto the
captain's bed! Their amorous fires are rudely quenched when they realize
whose bed they were deposited on and they simultaneously leap out of it.
The replicator mystery is somewhat resolved when the hidden room turns
out to be forgotten, specially requested storage space that wound up not
being needed. The replicated items piled in the hideaway were produced
with energy allocated to the replicator in the wall blocking off the
unused space that was then erroneously not reported by software infected
with a low-grade, months old virus. Other files causing a stir are those
found by CSO Mercedes McCarter's computer search on the phrase from CNS
Logaan Woods' nightmares, "Sierra-Gamma21." It turns out to be the
apocalyptic 21st stage in the decay of Merlog civilization. A prophecy
about the period refers to two alien saviors that the telepathic race
must find or the cycle of near-total destruction followed by gradual
renewal of their race will continue. The descriptions of the alien
saviors fit Mercedes and Logaan in every particular.

Captain Burke takes some private time with his wife, enjoying each
other's body and forgetting for a moment about their work. After lunch,
he checks with CSO Mauler to see what they know about Dr. Haptfield. All
attempts from the CSO to contact the scientists have failed so far,
making Burke wonder if Haptfield is avoiding them.

Sending probes to investigate the planet, the Geltanians are humanoid,
but with some significant differences, one the Doctor Agah points out
was the pouch on the naked aliens, and with the help of Ayanna, both
officers are ordered to investigated why these aliens have the pouch, is
it from a species revolution, is it infact some kind of personal
identity factor, they had to figure this out, they knew that further
investigation was still needed, to answer these questions.
The FO called for a ship report from all senior staff, mainly to assure
him that the ship was ready for what they were to embark on, and just
incase they were to encounter an unexpected surprise. The meeting gets
underway, Ayanna and Jynn, describe the human race, with what seems to
be an intelligent life form living within their pouch.
With the Hermes arriving, keeping a safe distance, not to be seen, they
prepare for the mission at hand.

DS 101 and the USS NIGHTINGALE continue their joint mission.
Specialist Kari of the NIGHTINGALE helps in rescue work at the bomb
blast site. Ensign T''Mal, CSci-NIGHTINGALE, uses a specially modified
tricorder to emit anti-chroniton particles in Morwenna''s Coffee Shop.
He succeeds in returning Dr Poynton from the past. Poynton relates his
adventures, including the danger facing the DS 101 of the past. But that
problem will have to wait for another time. Now, events are pressing the
two crews to begin their search-and-rescue mission. A Starfleet supply
ship, USS TASMANIA, has crash-landed on a pre-warp world. Rescue must
take place mindful of the Prime Directive. Goodbyes are said and they
get underway.
Capt Alyza travels on the NIGHTINGALE. LtCmdr Fischer will command the
USS CURIE. Shortly after the ships depart, Cmdr Canon turns command of
the NIGHTINGALE to LtCmdr Stuart. Canon and Alyza go to Holodeck one,
presumably to run practice sims of their own separate mission (details
known only to the participants). Roberts settles quickly into his
position of CEO. Brunor, who reported the TASMANIA''s crash, has stowed
away on the NIGHTINGALE. By agreement the unnamed planet of the crash is
named Nescio. That is Latin for ''I don''t know'', which pretty much
summed up the answer to many questions. T''Mal discovers that many of
the monitoring satellites slotted for use upon arrival at Nescio simply
do not work.
