CSO Mercedes McCarter deploys her motley bunch at an intersection in the
disabled enemy vessel. Her civilian brother, Yossarian, and Marc, a
member of her staff, are sent toward living quarters. OPS Mara Thull and
Thomas, another Security man, are sent down to the shuttlebay and
Du'grath and Mercedes head for the bridge. Mara and Thomas almost
immediately become involved in a firefight. They take one fellow out
quickly, then settle into one dashing closer while the other covers,
then the first covering for the second until they have the 3 conscious
resistors pinned. At Mara's call to surrender, 2 come out, but Thomas
signals that the third has readied to ambush them and she calls him on
it. When he comes wisely out to surrender, though, he makes the unwise
choice to insult Mara, a Klingon. Quite conscious of her orders to bring
back her prisoners unharmed, Mara uses her blade on her own hand,
dribbling her blood over the smartmouth's head and saying her blood is
on him until his insult is washed away with his blood. He freaks out,
telling Thomas to get him away from this weirdo, and they
shortly --are-- beamed over to some nice Security cells over on the
HAMILTON. Then, Mara reports their area clear.
Planetside, the shuttle and CSciO Tyvek both are unlikely to ever leave
the surface. A primitive weapon, possibly similar to a rocket launcher,
rendered most of the shuttle systems useless midflight, resulting in a
spectacular crashlanding that it is startling that anyone came out of.
Yet, survive aCO Miranda Sands did, waking some distance from the
shuttle where someone had left her. After looking through the shuttle's
remains and finding Tyvek's, Miranda climbs the mound of earth plowed up
by the shuttle nose and clambers up onto the roof. An odd menagerie of
individuals, Human, Ferengi, Somethingorother, eventually gather around
the wreck and aim energy weapons as varied as themselves at her. She
contacts HAMILTON for a rescue party, provoking the startlement of her
audience (apparently their jammer isn't working). She then lays down on
the shuttle, shading her eyes from the sun with one arm, not
particularly caring now whether the 'locals' carry her off or not, since
she is such a rotten commander as to allow one of her officers to be
killed practically before he even has time to raise an eyebrow at the
peculiarities of their ship. When CNS Logaan Woods arrives with rescuers
drawn primarily from Security, Miranda has vanished though Tyvek is
still where he fell.

SOXO Nathan Cady is very displeased to have his boyfriend, OPS D'Art
Storm, seeing him in his current condition. CMO Electra Threin
administers the first dosage of the antidote she has been able to create
now that she has access to the Joyean medical databases. As Cady drifts
off into sleep, she reassures D'Art that Cady didn't mean all that he
said.
Knowing it's only a matter of time before Joye goes nova, Lt Awk and
Lt. Yudel help Troj'an, one of the Joyeans from the Pri-Sat, retrieve
stored data. Meanwhile, CNS Stan the Man is making good progress in
curing Ensign Oqqre from his aichmophobia.

FO Cmdr Thar Emond writes a letter home to his family before boarding
the HIKARU. Cmdr Roberts, LtCmdr Julian Tifflor and the First
Technician of the Usari Fleet proceed with converting space aboard DS
101 for Usari use.
The HIKARU, accompanied by the Usari vessels, enter the corridor through
Vurtedion space that the Vurtedion government have allowed them to use
to reach the Usari homeworld. Several Vurtedion vessels monitor their
progress, just as they will monitor NIGHTINGALE's and PERTH's passage
several days later. Cmdr Fischer, now commanding the YEARGER, sends
Hunter a letter relating his recent activites and how much he misses
her. Katie, upset at Kersh choosing to go on the mission and leave her
at the station - thus delaying the marriage, takes her son and departs
the station. She leaves only a not to Kersh to be delivered after his
departure.

Nalon tries to force Staurt into giving away McCuen's position. As he
gets to seriously injuring Stuart, McCuen appears from behind a
holographic wall and shoots down the changeling, Carbonizing him. Maka
helps McCuen in getting Stuart to sickbay and mends his broken rib.
After a few hours a meeting is held, where most off the crew is promoted
and awards are awarded.

Ens. Mac Giolla Phadriag suggests daily holotime for the abled Usari on
their next mission. Thayer recomends a crew reduction to minimum to be
able to accomodate maximm Usari. It is clear things will have to be
coordinated with the HIKARU crew. Pol and Maka spend some recreational
time on the holodecks, where they meet a Lion, who knows of Maka's
origins.

The crew start examining all possible known reasons that could
be connected with the relay troubles in an effort to ensure they
are fully prepared for whatever it is that they actually find
when they arrive. The mutant seed is still the only piece of
'hard' evidence they have found and as Naalauilos points out
there could be any number of reasons for the alteration in its
DNA, Subspace anomalies are one possibility but she wouldn't
know more till she gets a chance to take readings on the relay
stations themselves. The meeting begins to draw to a close with
the Romulan managing to make routine 'common-sense' preparations
sound like a pompous longwinded order.
Following the meeting the Captain addresses some of his
lovesickness by sending a message to Hunter on DS101 whilst
Naalauilos gets back to work analysing the seed, finally
cracking the genetic code to find it had once been a normal
Jasmine plant.. Though what exactly that it was now was still
anybody's guess.
