Shortly after she herself woke up and was startled by their Westernesque surroundings, aCO Miranda Sands tries to explain to CNS Logaan Woods their cowboy era garb and the group that has them in the group's under-dune tunnel hideaway. Logaan quickly slips on something more decent than just long underwear and they exit their 'quarters' to find someone with a better grasp of the goings on. Sands directs them left (without any true idea of the proper path) and actually does wind up leading the way to Veris, the only fellow in the team that 'caught' her who showed any concern. Veris talks in riddles though, practically anyway, and keeps repeating that the various things she wants can be found at the meeting in a few hours time, she'll get the answers she wants at the meeting, she'll most likely find their comrades at the meeting... etc. Clearly, Veris can't or won't lend them more help than he already has. Sands directs Logaan back to the room they woke up in by means of Veris' directions and sits down, staring at the wall to try to avoid a conversation with the counsellor about the shuttle crash. She nearly dozes off until a far off roar begins gaining volume and shortly after, water begins trickling, then spraying, then pouring into the room!!

The YEAGER is stalled near OMEGA with her warp drive inoperative. The deuterium fuel is contaminated with a protein-like substance. The origin of the contamination is unclear. Even more vexing, the turbolift to the Bridge is also inoperative. Lt Pataar helps Makhor with repairs. They discover that the control circuits to the turbolift had been severed during their short warp flight. Repairs to the turbolift are quickly accomplished. Now, however, the environmental temperature is rising. Nurse Lambeth finds a pieces crewman’s body in the corridor outside her quarters.
