Ambassador Pendar attends the crew's party on SB Omega. He still has
difficulty grasping numerous Federation customs--such as being off duty--but
he continues to learn and adjust. LtCmdr. 'n Galeda also continues to do so,
but in his case it is learning to actually be more Human, not only to
understand them better. He discusses some of the finer points of language
with astCSciO Lt Cuen. LtCmdr. Einicrox buys a fire monkey, a small and
furry pet, from a passing Ferengi trader; she calls the creature Fluffy.
Two days later, it is exactly ten years since the first USS Horizon assigned
to the Cocoon Fleet was launched. Captain Burke meets with Admiral Tandro
Landi, the Cocoon Fleet's XO, to discuss various things. Lt. O'Brady (OPS),
Lt Dwight (CEO) and Lt. Rademach (CMO) are being reassigned elsewhere.
The OPS position will be filled by Lt William Greyhawk, a former
instructor on the USS Destiny. Dr. T'Salek will be acting CMO. Almost all of
the survivors from the USS Chupacabra are moving to the Horizon to fill
other vacancies. Lt. Meera Dayrider and Lt Reyan Jolan are two of them.
Dayrider will work in strategic and diplomatic operations and she will serve
as bridge relief officer. Additional new crew are coming from a few ships
from Emerald Fleet. LtCmdr. Nova'Song may have to act as counsellor for some
of them, given the traumas they faced during the recent Telmarc war.
Tandro hands Burke the orders for the Horizon's next mission. The Woodland
Foundation, a civilian research organization, has lost contact with a team
on Athel Loren II, an M-class planet in the Tass sector. The Horizon is sent
to investigate. Professor Arahan of Caldonia, who heads the Foundation in
the Cocoon, will join them.

Robert Thornbush, the Diplomatic relations Hologram and Natalia
B'Ker, a sanitation officer, share more intimate moments.
The Horizon continued orbiting Fria IV as they waited on further
contact from the Frians. During this quiet moment, Mao'Syllis and
the sensors pick up an explosion. The GALE discovered the Frian ship
Silver Swan was attacked, and the Frian homeworld accused the
NIGHTINGALE of firing on them.
Hails went unheard as the Frians prepared to attack the GALE. The
Frian ships disappeared, and then another ship of unknown make
appeared and disappeared, causing mass confusion on the GALE's
bridge.
