COCOON ACADEMY
USS DESTINY
Duties for Academy Instructors
1. Have fun yourself, it will represent our best side to the beginners
2. Be sure to communicate with the cadets promptly (within 24 hours if at all
possible). A combination of e-mailing them and posting often works best.
(Net gremlins get one or the other but often not both).
3. Make sure...
* they produce a brief bio,
* that they work on a longer bio for presentation to their first Captain,
* that they post and email all their writing using the appropriate
headings (USS DESTINY *)
4. It should take 3 days to 2 weeks to get them through. Usually the
requirement is 3 posts. Then you graduate them. It is of course your
decision. If you think they need one more post to do it right go ahead.
Just don't keep them forever. Remember the ships need them.
5. When they graduate send a copy of the post you graduate them in to the
Fleet PO (fleet-po@egroups.com). Make sure they have selected their three
most desired positions.
6. Keep your sense of humor intact. They'll make mistakes the first few times
(or at least most of them will). Be gentle but get them to do it right.
7. We don't expect you to teach them to write. (Although if you want to give
helpful hints be our guest)
8. The kinds of scenarios they face are up to you. It's best if it's
something that can be completed in the short time they have.
How much involvement you have in writing with them is also up to you.
9. A roster should be maintained which includes all current students as well
as instructors. A list should also be maintained of graduates with the date
of their graduation.
Duties specific to the Chief Training Officer:
1. To ensure that the cadets have an environment conducive to a good RP environment.
The cadet should have ample NPCs and instructors to interadt with. Without this
interaction, the cadet will never learn what life is like on a real unit.
2. It is the CTOs duty to hire and fire instructors. The CTO should have enough
instructor's on hand to keep things running smoothly.
3. The CTO assigns cadet's to one of the various positions on board the ship and
maintain a roster of these positions.
4. The CTO is held accountable for the overall training experience on the DESTINY.
The CTO reports directly to the Fleet PO and should maintain good communication
with that office.
5. It is the CTOs duty to graduate cadets from the Academy. Before this can be done,
the CTO must make sure his/her cadets can do the following:
1. The cadet must understand the Chain of Command and how it works.
2. The cadet must understand how our list system works and know the difference
between RPG posts and NRPG posts.
3. The cadet must have an acceptable BIO for their character.
4. The cadet should know the basic structure of a post; subject lines, stardates
signatures.
5. The cadet should be subscribed to the announce list.
6. The cadet should have reviewed copies of the Etiquette Guide, HWF Manual,
and Cadet Handbook.
Thanks!
