What you think it is...
...your world is not!

Deep inside of everyone's reality is total indescribable peace and unbelievable joy. Because these experiences are truly yours when you become totally honest with yourself, it's not too hard to imagine that when your mind is quiet enough, or in your dreams at night, you find yourself craving living in a peaceful, joyous world. How does the old phrase go? "The grass is always greener...."

Yet old timers will invariably tell you they have traveled all over the world, lived in every climate and culture... and the grass is nowhere any different.

So... what is going on?

If you were surfing the Internet recently, you might have seen one or both of the following advertising banners:

These ads appeal to everyone's truest deepest heart and soul desire: really wonderful deep sigh happiness. But even more important, they inform people how to achieve what they have always really, really wanted. It requires allowing miracles in one's life.

But the only way you are ever going to allow miracles consistently and automatically, like the pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop of long-lasting fireworks, is to really experience that your world is not what you think it is.

Enter Jesus Christ our savior with His 21st century revelation A Course in Miracles. In His Course Jesus works every angle, so to speak, to show us that miracles show us an entirely different world than the world as we always imagined it to be:

"The miracle is a learning device that lessons the need for time. It establishes an out-of-pattern time interval not under the usual laws of time." (Miracles Principle 47)

"You believe that what your physical eyes cannot see does not exist. This leads to a denial of spiritual sight. Miracles rearrange perception and place all levels in true perspective." (Miracles Principles 22 & 23)

"Miracles transcend the body. They are sudden shifts into invisibility, away from the bodily level." (Miracles Principle 17)

In other words, the world of scientists, with their assumption of immutable laws and set-in-stone physical reality... simply doesn't exist.

Our Holy Spirit is fond of saying things like, "Don't try to teach spiritual reality in terms of science, as Christians tried with their ID (Intelligent Design) ideas. Rather teach the science of miracles."

Okay, so the world is not what we think it is.

Or is the world simply not? As early as Lesson 14 in the Course's Workbook Jesus tells us: "What God did not create does not exist. And everything that does exist exists as He created it. The world you see has nothing to do with reality. It is of your own making and it does not exist."

Whichever way we are ready to think of our world, Jesus can save us from the pain, sickness and suffering we have made for ourselves and lift us into incredible peace and joy by using a little willingness on our part and opening us spiritually so we can see things entirely differently. In an early section of the unedited version of His dictation to Helen, Jesus said: "The Spiritual eye is the mechanism of miracles, because what the Spiritual eye perceives IS truth. The Spiritual eye perceives both the Creations of God AND the creations of man. Among the creations of man, it can also separate the true from the false by its ability to perceive totally rather than selectively. It thus becomes the proper instrument for reality testing, which always involves the necessary distinction between the true and the false."

In case you are wondering whether Jesus is giving us new Christianity, or simply clarifying in modern words teachings already taught by the Apostle Paul, consider this passage from one of Paul's letters: "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead." (Romans 1:20)

The teachings are the same. Whether you use the Holy Bible or A Course in Miracles to help you open and understand, there has never been any change in the teachings of Jesus.

The question is: why is Jesus encouraging us to open up and see with spiritual eyes? Could we not experience just as much joy and peace and love seeing a solid world with science that does not allow for what it considers "impossible?"

The answer is no. The ego's device of insisting on making its world real is used precisely as a closing down mechanism. When the ego's world is seen as less and less real, the device is no longer effective as a mechanism, and the greatest spiritual opening occurs.

Finally, you are free to experience total enlightenment, total glory, the fulfillment of the promise of Jesus Christ.

To this end we believe in miracles, invite miracles, watch for miracles, rejoice in miracles and let miracles lead the way.

Miracles lead to seeing, seeing leads to opening as never before. Opening as we could never have imagined leads to glory.

Therefore, you can say with honesty each day, and with marvelous joy and gratitude:

"What I think it is....
My world is not!"
